I am working on a project where i am making multiple textures that use this technique, but all of a sudden I am locked out of using master palette settings. I have it set to 8 bit RGB so I am unsure why photoshop decided now is the time to start misbehaving, any and all insight would be appreciated, thanks!
1. Downscale Image. Menu bar. Go to Image>Image Size switch 2045pixels to 550pixels width and height, 72 resolution, Set to nearest neighbor (hard edges) 2. Change to Index color. Menu bar: Go to Mode> Was in RGB, instead Select Index color, 8 bits. Pop-up Prompt: Flatten layers? Hit okay. Next Menu: Set Palette to Master(Adaptive), or Master (Selective). Colors set to 20. Options >Dither: Diffusion set to 50%. He uses any number from 50% to 90%. Click preview on. 3. Now Upscale. Go to Image>Image Size> make it about 10”. 300ppi resolution. Resample set to nearest neighbor(hard edges).

Interesting! Why and when would someone use this?
Would be used for aesthetics. Can also be used for DTG printing.
