Not really cause most BB players seem to dumb to realize that a Scharnhorst has torpedo launchers on the side and enough armor to unload them at near point blank range. Those idiots realize only too late that they’re eating all 3 torpedos right after you set them on fire and they burned their damage control putting out the fire.

@@Depressed_Nightfuryi just got the Scharnhorst and I will soon get the newly added Scharnhorst 43' from the event and to be honest if you push carefully and hide a bit around islands and avoid any engagement under 13km it's still very fun to play. Trash guns that appeared to be nerfed comparing to the video but excellent secondaries, maneuverability and torps make it good. In ten matches of random battles I only died 2 times and got 13 kills. If there is a jap sniper BB or some he cancer shooting you just run away and show them your buttocks, with 31 knots NOTHING but a DD will keep up

It is a Heavy Battlecruiser. A cruiser designed to hunt down and kill other cruisers like an Angel of Death with a tight schedule. It is best used as it was an Über Cruiser...
+gdbalck German BCs had tough armour and smaller guns, as opposed to what GB BCs had. Scharn sempai has also that awesome speed of 30knt and that superior belt armour.
I think the term coined by the British was "Pocket Battleship"
Pocket battleship was a term for the Deutschland-class, not the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
As said above, the term "Pocket Battleship" was used to refer to the Deutschland-class "Heavy Cruisers" that were built like battleships except smaller and called cruisers because of the Treaty of Versailles limitations on the size and power of German ships.
battle Cruiser can mean anything between Cruiser and Battleship. Alaska Class also should be considered a battle Cruiser.

Scharnhorst was designed and built as a battleship and her guns actually were battleship caliber, even though at the lower end of the scale (in WW2 era destroyers mounted up to 5.5" guns, cruisers 6 to 10" and battleships from 11" upwards). She was designed as a cruiser hunter and for that her faster firing 11" guns were better suited than the 14-16" mounts of "typical" battleships.

Panzerschiffs were cruisers with battleship turrets. Scharny however is a DD with armor and big guns.

You know, I bought this thing after watching your video. I was so excited, I went out with a friend who'd also bought it and did well for a match or two and then suddenly everything went to shit. I did no damage, I got wrecked routinely, I thought this thing was horrendously underpowered. I almost gave up on it.
Then, I watched your video again. And it all clicked. It's now my favorite ship and in my opinion the best tier for tier BB. It's the torps and the quick guns, I can't play other BB's because I'm addicted to brawling now. You did this to me you bastard. Thank you for making the Horst make sense to me, it was a superb purchase. Best shiptuber ever
Got it as my first premium recently after playing for years and she is a fantastic ship. And as someone who usually doesn't have premium account the income is really welcome. I also bought back the Gneisenau because I always regretted selling her and they are both just fantastic. I use my secondary/anti-fire/torp dodging Kurfürst captain on the Scharnhorst and it works amazing. While the Gneisenau I specced for full AA, it has a 93 AA rating with all the skills, modules but without the AA flag. Now I have so much fun just playing those two, especially the Scharnhorst with those fast firing guns can make for some awesome brawling. Most fun I ever had in this game are those two ships.

It's a ship you can't play properly, so all you can do is to rush enemy using covers and once you face them you use torps, german ap from close range or hydro for dds and you die, doing far more than all cruisers in team trying to play cautiously.
False. You get cozy with friendly battleships that gets sighted first and takes all the fires, then you smack everything repeatedly with your many guns.

Not sure if armor works differently in Legends (not sure why it would) but I've noticed mine getting consistently penned on the side armor regardless of angling. I've tried tons of different degrees of angling, but it's gotten to the point that I've actually found bow tanking to be more effective by a wide margin.
I've found that the thick armor plate is below the waterline so it really only shows during cqc when people try to shoot that part for easy citadel. Also most German BB in legends are strong if not invincible bow on so I guess in legends all German BB is Tirpitz clone
The Scharnhorst Mainbat. is from the Graf Spee (German Class), because she and her sister Gneisenau were planned to be Pocketcruisers.
I actually can't get enough of these videos - I have come across the Scharnhorst 4 times now, and have yet to do more than 10,000 damage total to one, because they always go on the side of the map I'm not ;_;
