    Balanced. ( to continue with the story). And had proper alignment. ( anybody who would) have any input on the subject) . In conclusion it was the idle arm that was the cause of my death wobble. 💀 was so severe I had to slow down to 30 mph. To get it to stop,before I could continue on .

    My 2011 Silverado has the same issue and it's definitely the inner tie rods I changed everything but the inner and had this issue with brand new wheels and tires so now a year or so later I finally changed the inner and it feels better for sure with a proper alignment

  • @martinvirag5659

    First, try an alignment and tire balancing. Its not a “death wobble” its just a little shaking :D

    My buddy’s 2000 f150 with the IFS has the same issue at around 55 65 mph, it does have fab tech 4 inch long arm up front. All bushings and ball joints seem fine I told him the same thing, go get a alignment and see if it changes.

    @brianhaw9398 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I would check u-joints while you're there . But I also think it's a tire out of balance. Sometimes you lose the weights or they fly off.

    I think at that point if all four tires are the same size, I would rotate the tires front to rear and see if it goes away. Don't know if it is death wobble or any variant there of, but it kinda looks the way the brake pedal feels when the ABS goes off in winter.

    The chevys with the big wheels like that are notorious for never keeping the wheels balanced for long. Also probably not worth saying but did you torque the wheels in the proper crisscross pattern when you put them back? I’m sure you did but improperly torquing the wheels when you put them back on can also cause the weeblewobbles if the pressure of the wheel isn’t evenly distributed on the hub. Just making sure you checked the commonly overlooked basics

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting.. Hopefully it is just an off balance wheel in our case

    Looking like a tire is out of balance, I had a weight randomly self delete itself, drove me insane thinking I had an issue… till I was looking around and realized I was missing a weight between two other weights… got the tires rebalanced and all was good.
    Also, make sure the rotor is sitting flush on the hub, it being out just abit would make for a bad time at highway speed

    • @budtoo2636
      @budtoo2636 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep same thing. Bought escalade and at higher speed it got minor shake. Fixed rear brakes and see a weight missing. Balance all 4 n good to go

    My 2001 duramax 2500hd had a really bad wheel shake when at hwy. Speeds I would hit a bump, or bumpy patches while on hwys. I had already changed the steering box and pitman arm. And checked the tierods for play. I also noticed that the idle arm was not healthy however, it was not a priority issue ATM. But it was a 2x4 with front independent suspension. So no axles. New pads rotors and bering. Tires were new and properly balanced

    My avalanche was just doing something similar, and the front passenger side tire was wearing weird on the one side. Went ahead and replaced the tire, just got the alignment done today, and she’s smooth like butter again. Situation here seems really similar (my avy even shook at around the same speed)

    Did you try reseting the Electric Power Steering module/system? It's recommended by GM to reset the system after any front end work so the computer doesn't try to overcorrect for Steering vibrations.

    CUTE LITTLE GIRL, Any how NO NOT DEATH WOBBLE AT ALL. Like you said " THEY CALL IT DEATH WOBBLE BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO DIE ", LMAO. That play he has COULD CAUSE THAT LITTLE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. The tire wear is caused by 1 of these things, an alignment issue, the play in that wheel ( BALL JOINTS ), BAD TIRE & I would replace those shocks. Some vehicles can handle a bit of play in the ball joints & some can't from my personal experience. GREAT ADVICE YOU GAVE HIM & AS ALWAYS LOVE THE CHANNEL, Henry from N.E. PA.

    12, n 6 will also give signs of a loose hub bering to. Even with newer hub assemblys. Even if the bearings have no noise when spun by hand or on roadways.

    Check the shaft coming out of the steering box assembly to make sure the pitman arm is up tight against the steering box and no spines are showing on the shaft.

    I am in this situation with my 2011 Chevy Tahoe and I have new tires. I do know that I need new front struts and back shocks. I hope that fixes the issue. It can shack rumble bad but it’s inconsistent. 🥺 a balance was done with the new tires and I I’m sure it needs the front drive shaft u-joint fixed but I don’t think it’s that.

    These GMT900's are sensitive to the alignment being out, especially the toe.
    At the very least, have it checked.
    One thing that happened to me when replacing the front brakes at 95K miles, the front calipers ended up sticking after they were compressed fully...even with the old fluid evacuated. The fix for me was new calipers, didn't want to mess with rebuilding them.

  • @markthomas3853

    if you speed up a little further does the wobble go away?... if so it's likely just a balance issue... and the wear on the tire could alone be the issue... I'd still have the wheels balanced and have the alignment checked...

    His death wobble wasn't bad I have the same truck and mine gets like 10x worse than what I seen in the video. It weirdly only happens on this certain stretch of highway

  • @fleetofwjs1893
    @fleetofwjs1893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sorry, but if at 70mph you have to change the zoom on the camera to pick up on the minor steering wheel vibration (as opposed to changing your shorts), then its not death wobble.
    That being said, my middle boy had a similar issue on his minivan about 6 months ago, but a bit more pronounced. It was a passenger front tire issue. Suspected it, replaced the tire with a spare, and presto no shako. Put it back on the driver side for a test run and the shake returned, but with a shift in the "feel" to the driver side.
    Upon closer inspection there was damage to the tread that wasn't visually obvious but could be felt if you rubbed your hand across it. Put on a new tire and 6 months later the shake hasn't returned.

    If that's "death wobble", sign me up...🤣 I'd maybe call that a slight steering wheel shimmy, definitely not death wobble.
    Also, Toyotas don't deal with that stuff. As a Yota guy that's had 20+ (solid and IFS trucks and 4Runners, and 1 FJ80) since 1992 when I got my license, I've never had or heard of them having real death wobble like my current 04 & 99 WJ's. I did however have an 02 WJ that drove fantastic. As a guy in the auto repair industry the last 28 years, I'd say if you don't realize that they are ALL JUNK (although I will give you some more than others...haha), then I'm not sure I could watch you videos anymore...🤣
    I love my Toyotas, but like you with your Jeeps I can also admit their flaws. With Toyotas, it's no power and RUST!!!! And now their price! I'm pretty quickly becoming a WJ fan though. Hard to hate on them. I like the looks, they are comfortable, sufficient power, easy to work on, good ride, capable and still fairly cheap. If it wasn't for their damn death wobble issues!! I'm not used to that, with Toyotas you just drive them until rust apart...🤣 I have a decent variety pack now with the 2 WJ's and 1 1984 4Runner. I've had a mess of IFS Toyotas, but definitely prefer the solid axle trucks and 4Runners. Sadly most are going back to mother earth by way of rust, that aren't being sent to South America...😏 Keep on Jimmy Jamming! 👍👍
