I just got this tent and River country recommended that I seam seal it when it arrived. They didn't give me the impression that it would be waterproof right out of the box.

I have the Trekker 1 and Trekker 3. Seam seal and waterproofing spray. No Leakes!! great tent . I seal all tents before I use them.

I always seal all seams with Dry Guy. I spray it on with a small pump up sprayer and work it in with a soft paint brush. NO LEAKS.

That is definitely needed for this tent!! After that it is unparalleled a a family backpacking tent! I CANNOT find a better tent even for considerably more money!!

Thanks for doing the review. This tent checks all the boxes for a cheap backpacking tent. Bummer it leaks though. Still probably buy it and waterproof it myself.

Hey you are very welcome! I'm super glad it was helpful. It is still a fantastic tent for us. After water proofing it it is perfect for our needs and so inexpensive. My only minor gripe at this point is that I wish the vestibule was a bit bigger. But we can still cook in it if we need to. I don't think you'll regret it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

That is a nice looking tent. Nice space and I like the teepee style tent. Great review✌️

I really wanted it to work out too because I was just to about to order one till I seen this video. I looked the tent up and it’s $99.72 and that’s not counting price of the poles 😮

Oh really!!! Wow it's gone up!!... just like everything else I suppose. If you deal the seams and spray the fabric it's a pretty good tent! We're still using it!!

one should always assume any tent needs to be seam sealed and waterproofed before use.

Yes but i don't think most people starting off in camping or backpacking realize that! i know I didn't.

Unless you buy a tent that is already waterproofed. We have a Bug Agnes Manzanares and it was good to go right out of the box.

That's awesome! I've always heard good things about big agnes products!! We have one of their sleep pads and like it alot!

If they would address their water proofing issues out of the box they would be fantastic budget options.

For $62 what did you expect?

Well it may be naive but for new backpackers (who are more likely to buy budget Tents) when it didn't say anything in the description of the tent about sealing the seams i think the presumption is that a shelter at a minimum can keep water out. But hey live and learn! Thanks for commenting!!
