It is a very nice choice. Most people buy the pro version for some reason, but I think that Air is much better, especially because you got 16Gb. A touch bar will go away in next versions too, and you do not have it already. I will watch your channel regularly now.
I think 256 GB should be enough for just study taking notes. If you afraid that is not enough space you can buy a external harddrive. But if u have enough budget to go for 512 GB I definitely would suggest 512 GB. Because more is better than less.

FYI Apple does not recommend accessories such as bars cases keyboard covers screen protectors etc as they can ruin the screen!!
