Those micro scratches are filled up by WD40 liquid film , that masks the fogged look and it takes day to dry by the inherent property of WD40. When washed with soap that film of WD40 is removed taking us back to square one. Thanks for showing the truth. Good work .

Whatever other remedy anyone uses, be sure to use a UV PROTECTANT as a final step! This is important! UV rays are what cause the clear plastic lens to deteriorate in the first place. They sell it as an easy to apply trigger spray, and should be applied and re-applied AT LEAST every six months, or more if you wash your car alot.

WD-40 works in a pinch, but a very temporary solution; only lasts a few days, but will go right back where you started as soon as it gets wet. Pick up Mother's Mag and Aluminum rubbing compound, use a microfiber cloth, a cordless drill with a buffing pad, and within 30 minutes, your headlights will be clean and shining like new!

Yes, yes, ok. I noticed this on the first day I tried it. It begins to wear off even before a carwash. But it's still a nice method to use on short notice if you need to go somewhere and temporarily look good. Until you get the chance to restore the lenses long-term.

I have figured out a way to completely restore your headlights back to original condition. Step one. Awesome degreaser. This will remove any yellow buildup that the sun has caused. These are UV rays that are burning the plastic. Next step water or alcohol rinse the light. Let completely air dry or assist. If wet sanding is needed for more serious cases of burning on the headlight I would suggest using only an 800 grit. The more you scratch the headlight with and more abrasive paper you will get a less better result. Step 3. Rust-Oleum non-yellowing uv-resistant gloss clear. And tgats it. Your headlight will last with the same brilliance for over a year in most cases

the best way to keep the lights clear is to buff them up using 1200 or 2000 grade wet and dry paper so they go really cloudy then spray clear coat finely over them,
all the WD40 does is acts like clear coat or water and makes the lights seem new and clear while they are wet, clear coax dries but keeps them clear, or at least until the sun damages the clear coat or you scratch it off..

What are the general principles of a product like WD-40, TOXIC CHEMICALS THAT ARE USED FOR THE CLEANING PROCESS OF RUST. I am still not sure what to expect from watching a video of a product that is suitable to become a blow torch fluid and I would be so interested to know if you have ever been in a science class or something like a learning experience or something else that would be able to make a decent decision on a suitable and accurate basis to make a claim. If you have not rubbed it to hard it is not going to have a lot of impact on the Plastic headlight, which is why the car is getting a little bit more light and more efficient like the idea of a pitted plastic headlight that will become more difficult for a reason that is not meant for people who are doing it for the claim that it's possible that repairs and services that are used for the good of your car making it easier is not the same as saying that it is a glass durable quality headlight that is pitted from years of service and the ability to develop and improve the glass is not going to be a easy task. Probably not a good for you. The damage that a product like WD-40 is capable of doing is not going to be repaired by a cloth and WD-40 it will make it harder for the future person to have to be able to make a decision to keep a good enough piece of glass headlights from the same results as the plastic headlight that will become junk and the ability for a replacement is the thing that can be used for the damage that happened before the public is aware that its not right to be a tip to ruin other people's things. This was a little bit of a effort to make it harder to get a public opinion about it anymore because it was a claim that is false, but I don't think that you are going to be a successful candidate for a misleading claim that doesn't make sense. I watched the video and I was not going to swallow the whole thing but I don't know about the way he is not wanting to warn you that you are not going to get a reaction from the chemical that is not right. There's no permanent solution to headlights deterioration over time!! Anybody who tells you different is lieing!! There's 100's utube streams showing scam and fake information on how to restore headlights some good some bad, For anyone who finds it all confusing my short cut suggestion is to check out "The headlight restoration pro" An honest professional who gives the a step by step instructions on how and restore headlights, Moreover how to maintain clarity and shine for as long as possible, There's only one way the right way!!!🤔😎👍👍👐

Okay I have been restoring headlights for over 20 years. The Volkswagen headlight and headlights from other vehicles are all individual and made of different types of plastic. Volkswagen, some BMW's Volvo's and Porsches all have different texture to their headlight plastic. I would not recommend this method for even the easiest job.

lol WHAT. No. Clear coat won’t stick because wd40 is a GREASE based compound. Don’t give advice if you don’t know what you’re talking about. You could make people ruin their headlights. If you spray clear coat over wd40 it will run and look like dog crap

The only real solution is glass headlights and they really don't make them anymore. If you use WD-40 it actually does work but you also need a clear coat to spray over that after its wiped clean and it will only last you about a year
