Just bought one of these to put with a Penn Fathom. Stoked! Great review. I’d either go Penn Fathom or if you want something more premium I would say a Shimano Trinidad or Talica.
I’d pair it with a penn fathom 30LD, Avet raptor MC cast or a accurate boss fury 400-600. I just got a penn fathom and I’m looking to buy that specific rod
What's the max weight you have casted with each rod? Phenix doesn't list any lure weight rating for these rods. Also I know this video is from a year ago but the new shimano takota reels have been released. They definitely are smaller.
Max I've casted are 9 oz jigs for rock fish. The Tekotas aren't a bad reel, but for me, I feel a higher quality reel balances the rods better. I switched out one Tekota for an Avet and haven't looked back.
I’m looking for a sensitive head boat rod that would be good for inshore bottom fishing like fluke, tautog, porgies. Would you recommend the ML rod and can you feel all the contact on the bait end while bouncing a 5 ounce sinker around ? Thanks.
Yes the ML is the way to go. I fish a 9oz jig and can tell the difference in the bottom and detect the smallest of rockfish hitting the jig. Tight lines!
Hello sir, I just subscribed and watch your video. thanks for the information about the PSW 700M phenix rod .. If you don't mind, you can make a video, bending a rod for weight 1 kilograms .. I would like to thank you for your help And I really appreciate it ..
Hey Chris, I want a strong backbone rod for head boat bottom fishing of 3-10 pound fish, never intending to cast only dropping sinkers would the PSW 700 ML be a great rod choice ?
I've beaten it up enough to feel like I've gotten my use of the heavier rod. I generally grab the 15-30 more often and it's been my go-to rod for the last two seasons. As long as the guides stay on, I'm good with it. Thanks for watching!
Subbed, you have some beautiful catches there! I'm heading out to the mountains tomorrow for some late season trout fishing before the snow comes. Be sure to check back in a few days. Be sure to subscribe to be notified of all my new videos. Tight lines!

Avet raptors 💪

Thinking about picking one up and pairing it with a Shimano Saragosa 8000 for surf, pier and jetty fishing.
How'd that work out, Im trying to do the same thing
Trinidad12a 40lb maxcuatro .With a 20-25lb top shot
That's sounds like a solid setup!
With out a doubt id put a bv300 on this! Thanks for the review. Im looking to get the east coast black diamond version in MH or H!
Any time, thanks for watching!
Got a Penn Fathom 25 Narrow on my Abyss 806
Pairing mine w/Trinidad 14
On my black diamond 40-130 I run a a talica 25 - 2speed. But for the smaller rods in this video I would go with the talica 12 or the new speedmaster
I have my Phenix Hybrid (PHD700X4H) 80-200lb with a Talica 25ii

Can you share the heaviest weight and species of fish that you have caught with the ML rod ?
The largest was around 30lbs lingcod. A picture of it is on my instragram page, middle of the pile of bottom fish.
“These rods deserve better”😂 I have mine paired up with a boss valiant 500 2sp , black diamond 8ft xh
Avet or Accurate
I've picked up an Avet at the end of November. Been too busy to try it out, but soon the weather will break and fishing season will be in full swing!
Accurate ...... if your money is Long 😊
Accurate tern 300 works great on mine
I would put a avet lx on it slim with 40 lb braid.
Accurate valiant 600N
I what one for my 20000 saragosa

Absolutely! That's how I mainly fish the rod, as well as salmon trolling.
I'd definitely put an accurate on them. What's the tip like on the 10-30? Is it really soft with a strong back bone?
Yes definitely, I prefer it over the 15-40. Even when using 3lb salmon trolling weights in the past.
Im sure if you send that rod in to phenix they'll fix or replace them for free or littlecost. They have a good warranty

Shimano tourium 20

A vet mxj g2
I did pick up an Avet, though the SX G2. Haven't used it yet, but salmon opens in two weeks!
