It used to be a fantastic mall. I have fond memories of the 1990s and 2010s there myself. But once the FYE closed, shoot it declined dramatically. I know the pain.
This is a mall that I’m surprised is even still open! Those 1950s-1960s era malls were built during a different time and demographics have changed dramatically since then. Northland, Southland, Westland and Eastland… Back when Detroit was something quite impressive and before urban sprawl went nuts.
I used to live at the Landings and at one time worked at the Olga's and the Panera. It's sad to see it like this. I believe a couple of years ago there was a shooting?
@stellarsky1 There have been many reasons why. The arcade, FYE, anchor stores, etc disappearing are big ones. That and online shopping. And the shooting I believe that happened.
Yep it's become desolate and barely standing. I visit it once every couple of months and get a feeling of kenopsia (the feeling that something once populated is now empty).
Love this video
Very sad that my hometown Mall is dying, Loved going to Westland Mall in the late 1960's through 1970's into the early 1980's.

Man, hard to believe what’s happened to this place. I used to love this place
Yeah and now it's kenopsia (feeling of being empty). What the heck will happen to it is in fates' hands.

I live walking and biking distance from this mall and honestly I'm surprised it's even still open. I think online shopping is partially to blame.
@jacobmccorry125 Yeah I agree with the online shopping. I've seen the decline just like you and yeah, it's not doing so great.
Man this place was booming 10 years ago. Wish the mall was still like that.
Yeah it was booming then. But now it's a shell of itself.
The ‘PS’ store was Pac Sun
Ah okay thanks for clarifying.

That mall doesn't have very much!!!
