Wow, I don't play any instruments (sadly...), but for me, he was really impressive. Even if it wasn't his best performance ever (he's played Four Seasons multiple times), everyone can have a bad day. With his mindblowing passion and perfectionism, he definitely will be a true master of the violin when he gets older (he already is actually :D, but every talent needs nourishing). And he definitely is really talented, no one can deny that.

lynn This is Coming from someone who had played this solo piece in a college orchestra (note im in the 8th grade) Sure his innotation can be flat at times but to say you're "second hand embarrassed" I would like to see you play this piece with the counducter I had and not mess up without crying. Bet you will make a fool of yourself. Before saying you're embarrased. Do it yourself.

Alex Rivers I cannot agree with you. The first violin section can be equally part since in baroque music it is very common to double the solo with first violins (it's because of so-called cascade dynamics), just check out any Bach concerti. Beside that, even if the parts weren't equally hard, the other musicians deserve to be credited anyway.

I do not think that VIvaldi’s rather staid 'Four Seasons' suits Alexander at all. There are plenty of other TH-cam films up already that show Alexander excelling at Classical violin. If he wants to try other new ground, he should be playing instead Bruch, Brahms, Mendelssohn or Beethoven 'Violin Concertos', Tchaikovsky 'Serenade for Strings' or Concerto, Massenet Meditation, Vaughan Williams’ Lark because they have more natural Alexander-type passion or simplicity than VIvaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ has.
He's obviously struggling playing this, not used to it. Looks like a cute scared student. Out of tune several times, dragging it, hard not to fall asleep...Go to watch Garrett's interpretation to see a quality passionate performance which makes you feel alive. Or Perlman.

As the orchestra in which I play the violin performed the "Four Seasons" in February, we used the recording of the baroque ensemble "Il Giardino Armonico" for studying. Give them a try - the Performance sounds completely different to what we are used to hear (especially the second movement of the "winter") ...
