I’m taking these Burgers with me this Weekend as an Army Veteran I’m doing the Great Tommy Sleep Out for Homeless Veterans, in me Basha, Gonk Bag, Hexi Blocks & Cooker with me Mess Tins. All for a great cause Brother. Great Review 👏👏👏👏
Takes me back to the 80s. The Carlisle chip shops all sold them. The burgers with cheese in the middle 'unbattered' in bread buns were on sale in the nightclubs. Happy days.
I've been waiting for someone to review these. I like you, bloody love em they remind me of rolling out the club in the late 80's early 90's. Great video, Gaz 👍
Brilliant…that’s when roughly I had my last one- battered burger was an indulgence of the naughtiest kind lol. I’m going to have to try it again for the memories 🙌👍
Tried all the "Grill house" , chicken shawarma, doner kebab meat, takeaway style chips and the salt n pepper pork plus the battered burgers and all really good , the chips are great .
Great review! I've never seen anything like these in Canada , and based on the amount of steam coming off them, they would be a great cold winter day meal. ☃🌨
I can remember battered burgers from chippy when I wazs young, they used to do a cowboy supper which was batter burger, battered sausage, chips & beans. Lovely stuff
Can't really say that I fancy these burgers much but on the subject of Chippy's doing battered food, there's a Chippy a couple of miles away from me that does battered Black Pudding and it is fantastic.
I miss the Iceland chilled cheeseburgers which were a 2 pack that came in a plastic container. It came with seeded buns and cheese slices and a jar of burger Relish in the middle. Loved those as a kid.
I saw a video on TH-cam that you, as an experienced cook !, might like to try. It was for sausage rolls but instead of sausage meat you used minced beef with grated cheese and onion mixed in.. It came out as a cheeseburger wrapped in puff pastry. Delicious !!!!!
Another great review with smiles and calories!... picked up the "2 XL American Hot Burgers" myself in Iceland which had "NEW" on them!... can always get battered single burgers in the chip shops here!🍔👍
We regularly take a run to the Gretna Outlets which is about 1hr 45mins from Ayr where we stay and there used to be a chippy in Gretna Green that sold battered burgers but it was the whole burger with the bun that was dipped in the batter, full of fat but so tasty, another enjoyable video Gareth,I quite like the look of them
.....Gonna give these a go ......we still have battered burgers an we can also get SPAM fritter as well in one of our chippies......they cost about £4.50 for 2 without chips ......
We've always had them in our chippies but they aren't as popular now . I really like them and think I'll pop and get some of these . Great review Gareth 👏
The chippy where I grew up sold pretty much battered everything. Battered burger, battered sausage, battered hotdog, spam fritter, corned beef fritter, potato fritter, apple fritter, the one thing they sold in batter I wasn't a fan of though was battered pizza. Remember those frozen snack pizzas from the early/mid 80's that were about 4 inches wide sold in a bag like a loaf of bread? They would dunk one of those in batter and deep fry it.
Hi Gareth, another great video...came across you by accident while looking for steak videos a few months back...now subscribed and enjoying watching all the back catalogue too! Being in Scotland (Aberdeen but Ayrshire born and bred) most of the chippers here do battered burgers but notice up here they quite often call them just a steak burger or steak chop, so you might have to ask the staff.
They take me back! My nanna used to work in a chippy at cullercoats when I was younger and she used to bring me 1 freshly cooked home after her shift when I stayed at hers! I'll have to pay that chippy a visit see if they still do them
Our local chippie used to do these years ago, minus the cheese. I think it’s the deep frying that made them so nice. They looked good to be fair .Thankyou for the rview❤
They used to do battered burgers round my way too, when I lived in Peckham. I never touched them. I always thought they were trying to hide something under all that batter. Same with battered sausages, though I did have one of those occasionally. Anyway, great review.
Hi Gareth, the local chippy dose battered burgers and sausages and they are nice. I bet the cheese was like molten lava, Great review on this battered cheese burgers, catch you soon Take care🤤😋😁👍
I've bought both that Stokes brown sauce and the Tracklements sweet mustard ketchup shown here from Amazon, can't wait to try them... and I will be visiting Iceland soon for those burgers, nothing wrong with a bit of stodge, as long as it's eaten in moderation!
They bring back memories of the chippy I went to on most lunchtimes when I was in secondary school they served battered burgers and I loved them. They were a lot smaller than those and no cheese inside so the iceland ones will be something I'll grab next time I visit one. There was doubt that burger was cooked properly the steam coming off it hope you didn't burn your mouth.
I love a battered burger, I love a cheese burger, so I should love these, but I don’t love processed cheese, so maybe not. If it was another cheese, I would grab these, but I suppose that would push the price up. Oh, well, can’t have everything. Thanks for the review, always useful. I agree that they are not healthy to eat on a regular basis, but shops sell what customers want, so if we want to improve the country’s health, we need to go right back to basics and educate children about nutrition and cooking. That way, they can make healthy choices and shops will sell healthy food because it makes money for them. Sorry for lecturing, but everyone in my extended family has health problems of one kind or another because of bad diet, so it’s one of my pet peeves. I’ll shut up now. 😀
Bloody Nora Gaz.....you need either better life insurance or sponsoring by Iceland 😂😂😂😂 It looks tasty mate but by Christ it's a cardiologists nightmare 🤣🤣🤣 Keep up the great work pal Gary 🙏
hi Gareth! I always take note of your reaction when you scoff your food and that's a message to me to buy it and, er scoff it down too? those battered cheese burgers you tried looked great,so I had my own taste test with mustard mayo , very good ! all the best John
My local chippy back home darn sarf used to have battered burgers, they were lovely but I remember the Iceland inside-out cheeseburgers, not sure if they still do them but they were great after a belly full of beer. Cheers Gaz
Look really nice them, thanks for reviewing them I’ll definitely try these myself, I like the local chippy burger in batter and these look better especially with the cheese I can’t wait 😋
Hehehe.... When I lived in the USA, there were places that would batter and deep fry anything. Beef burgers, chicken, even Mars bars.... One of my favourites was something called Chicken Fried Steak. It was basically a sirloin steak, turned into mince, formed into a patty, then dipped in batter and deep fried, Two of them would give you a heart attack from all the fat, but we ate them one at a time.... The seasoned batter and the juicy steak mince inside made this a delicacy... Soooo when you're ready for a heart attack, try an American Chicken Fried Steak.... You'll never look at plain mince the same way again!
They were pretty Greasy the battered burgers from the Chippy's here in North Wales along with the Chop Suey Rolls from what I can remember.Used to get them on way home after a night out sometimes.I can remember they used to turn the white paper they were wrapped in almost See Thru like Tracing Paper 😆
Just watched the video Gaz! The Chippy near me does them!, they’re not as tasty as Spam Fritters but still ok! Does’nt come close to Cod though!!lol. All the best and still making the nation happy!. Joel.
I've never tried these, looks good, I will tell my sister to try them, she lives near a iceland, aldi and tesco extra, gets to try everything before me, lol, she's tried the mega cheese burger toastie from Aldi amd liked that, she's going to try the sausage, beans and cheese one next she said, she's also got the bacon and cheese and sausage and cheese wraps that you did from iceland, great video, looking forward to watching more 😊
Nice review again, thanks, Gareth...though I consider them too sickly and, WAY too expensive at £2 a burger, wouldn't give them the room in my freezer! Rather buy Aldi/Lidl's four quarter pounders without batter, at £2.99. But keep the reviews coming, always love 'em from you!!! 😊
haha I like it, 'I regret to inform you it's tasty' you're like the Dr Evil from Gold member of food with that smile and laugh. I'm going to Iceland to buy some they look lush. Always good reviews keep up the honest appraisals
Matties Chippy on Ainslie Street used to do these waaaaaay back Gareth...(1980's) Maybe they still do... Been a long time since I've had one gonna have to try these out though...
That's a blast from the past, battered hamburger from the chippy, when we were kids my local chippy used to sell the "bits" from the fryer, in a little paper cone for a tuppence, these had different names around the country, but in my childhood locale they were called "a bag of scabs", revolting name 🤢 but what a treat !.
Considering the swiftness you tackle the words “the oven”. Is there any chance you’ll deal with “the air fryer” in such a similarly fast and efficient way? Asking for a friend.😊👍
That's broken my heart.........I grew up with battered burgers from the local chippy, and even at my tender age which was 40 years ago i knew it was wrong but again so right.
Hey Gareth, the first time I ever ate a battered burger was from my local chippy about 25 years ago when I was a kid. I bit into it and hot oil splattered all over my face🤣 was a great burger though! despite the burnt face haha

Homeless Veterans. That is a saying that should not exist. Bless you mate.

Brilliant…that’s when roughly I had my last one- battered burger was an indulgence of the naughtiest kind lol. I’m going to have to try it again for the memories 🙌👍
If you remember rolling out of a club and what you ate, you weren’t trying hard enough 🤣 (was always a cheese egg burger for me!)
@@pipipip815 not for everyone. I could drink vodka,or I should say be on a long session and be the last one- and I’d never lose my memory. Lol
Tried all the "Grill house" , chicken shawarma, doner kebab meat, takeaway style chips and the salt n pepper pork plus the battered burgers and all really good , the chips are great .
Pure comfort food. Not to be consumed every day, however tempting that might be.
Funny, got these in my Iceland grocery delivery today!
Enjoy 😉
Great review! I've never seen anything like these in Canada , and based on the amount of steam coming off them, they would be a great cold winter day meal. ☃🌨

I used to love battered spam from the fish shop,I am going to have an op on Friday,I will get back to the videos when I am better xx

I can’t eat wheat but the battered black pudding sounds very good
@@peterolley7159 If you ever come across it in a chippy I highly recommend that you try it.

Our local chippy does battered beefburger and they're lovely. ♥
My local butcher does 6oz steak burgers at £1.50 each so I definitely know where my money is going , glad you tried them though

I like to butter my buns when making burgers and i have the sliced red onion raw. I will have to try these next time I am in Iceland.
We used to get battered curry burgers as a kid from our local chippy in Liverpool, they were fantastic!
“This is so wrong but tastes so good” … superb review, thank you Gareth for your truly honest opinion

Nice looking burger and a decent size as well. Could make a third option for serving by putting a fried egg on top.
Great idea!
They do a sausage in batter round my chippy a bit greasy but lovely 😊
Can you try the Iceland pound range new sausage and bean melt
Not quite up there with the deep-fried, battered mushy pea and chip butty they sell somewhere in Leeds, but getting pretty close...

Gareth, they look just like what the old chippie used to sell, I loved them pity the chippie no longer exists, but thanks for the memories.

Kent Street chippie does battered burgers, i once had one from matties long time ago!🙂
Cheers Peter
That cheese wasn’t too bad, there was enough to even ooze out of the bun. If you like it, eat it. Works for me all the time.
That's broken my heart.........I grew up with battered burgers from the local chippy, and even at my tender age which was 40 years ago i knew it was wrong but again so right.
That's a right old naughty carb fest of fun, I suppose one in a while won't hurt 😆😆😆
Do they come with a free stent in the box ? 🙂
