Doesnt matter how good they are. Archers always retreat to range. They could've won this if they avoided that bridge and swarmed everything at once instead of going in bit by bit. The other way melee could've won was waiting the enemy out. Crossing the river is suicide obviously.

The melee units were incompetently lead. First, a competent leader would never had entered into this battle. Second, if forced to work this field, he would never have split his force. And worst, his units strolled into the engagement. Melee means man-to-man. All should have rushed with only a narrow exit path. The men would have stomped that stream dry with their boots. Crap.

Any general would realize when they arrived to the battlefield that the bridge was heavily defended so go to the Ford with the smaller force or find another spot to Ford in reality you don't have a birds eye view of the battle and you can easily get sneaked up on. Also with the largest force at the Ford you send them across to attack. Not a few at a time and let your men get slaughtered. Also I would build arrow walls. Basically move able walls that they fruitlessly fire into. Get up really close and attack. Basically the ai is a terrible general and I would have exploited the flaws in this man's plans already
Watching a video on youtube for graphics will not do a game justice, youtube lessens the quality of whatever your watching so...yeah what your watching isn't really the best quality
one thing i hate about this series is the only actually unit that blocks formation is anyone with testudo formation everyone else WITH SHIELDS does not do shit agenst arrows
if you get the radius and divide et impera mods it makes the game much better, pluss if you play as parthia and use the bronze masked archers (the strongest archers) and fight against odrisian kingdom and they use theyre mercenary flaxmen (they are so weak and have no sheilds) it is literally a slaughter
so, was your opponent actually playing? Or just doing it for cinematic value, because the #1 rule of fighting that many archers is to always present them with a shield, and never stop your approach, also, the bridges and the general were super OP in this, so that is why the archers were so successful.

Lutenant douche If you plan on having the best possible performance, you should go with a desktop PC and watch a few tutorials on youtube or some websites on how to install different PC parts. It will be so much cheaper when you buy the parts yourself and you can always upgrade your PC. If you're low on money, you should go with AMD parts. They ain't the best, but get's the job done so yeah. If the budget is no problem (say 1000$), you should go with some Intel parts. GTX 600-700 series are good and then there is i5 or i7 for a processor. Good for editing and recording.

Yes, the tick option when you go into custom battle, bottom right of the menu says "Large Army" You're thinking about campaign whereas this is just a custom battle. In campaign I'd imagine there is a mod on the workshop you can download but it's a bad idea if you ever get sick of it as it can corrupt your file when trying to remove it.

Welcome to releasing AAA title games that aren't finished. You will have to wait a while for Creative Assembly to "optimize" Rome II, I am sure by the time Rome IV comes out you will be able to play R2 without bugs. CA +1

How did you get the AI to cross the bridge? When I play, the AI is too stupid and just walks around the opposite bank or runs upstream.
First check on custom battle if you're the defender? Anyway the AI is pretty stupid, I bet it took him a while
