those tubs at the end, priceless. might as well ask the parts counter people for advise. i've been there.. my family does it that way. their go to is always a fuel filter, plugs and wires. i've even changed out a fuel pump on a car that i knew was good just to prove a point to my father inlaw. now he doesn't question me under the hood. admittedly i never figured out the very rare and random stall that thing had. it was a $350 car that replaced a free car i also had to fix. well close to free made a couple MINOR fixes, cv shaft, brake pads, valve pan gasket and re wired the plug wires where a family member screwed them up. less than a day's work. got sideways there, i've always been against fixing what's not broken. i've been wrenching since i could drive and literally a self taught person. just bought a manual and went at it. i've been the parts cannon guy. those days are at an end. bought a graphing scanner and been learning this stuff. i can atleast carry a conversation with people having knowledge and see what the likely issue is on the trims. i just want to say thanks for putting the info out there.

I spent yesterday evening "researching" how to fit an adjustable clutch without the special tool, because it said on the box I need one. I am a young auto mechanic from Canada and watch your channel often. I particularly like your tip, tricks and hacks videos, (the DLC connector tied to the key is something I never thought of) :). Your other videos explaining concepts such as fuel trim, voltage drop etc. are also very clear. For a DIY, I honestly think you are well ahead of many so-called "professional" auto mechanics. Wayyyyy to many guys go the parts-changing route. Thanks for your content and dedication to diagnostics. I like working with certainty and not by means of "plug and pray".

I have a great hack for lowering the spare on trucks, use the jack. slide the jack underneath the side of the spare, raise the jack so that you can lower the tire about half way down, while it's there you can drop the cable while it has no tension easier and then drop the jack with the tire on it and roll it out . no wrestling or struggling to lift just slide it out using the jack

I would like to see a Tips and Tricks part 4 video with information about what you're using for getting diagnostic and service information to repair your vehicles. I'm a part time mechanic and only work on a couple cars a week. I had been using ALLDataDIY but I just went to their site today and the pricing went up from $15.95 per year for a vehicle to $19.99 per month. I'm at a loss for affordable forms of service information and I'm sure there are others in a similar situation to the one I'm in. I can't really afford to pay $180+ per month for the volume of work I do. Thanks again for all of your awesome content!!!!

Hi Matt, I'm a new subscriber and have a story. bear with me it might be a little long.
I build homes, I do the wood framing. We build the wood structure here in So. Cal.
Well, years ago when we got up to building the roof structure I would get a big block of wood. A 2x8 or a 2x10 block of wood. I would then sit down with my calculator and start peramulating all the different length's of all the pieces of wood. ( Rafters, Hips, Valleys, Rafter jacks ect....)
After I had all my numbers documented, I would take my sharpie or magic marker and label that block of wood---- THE Tablet of Knowledge!! That term became very famous in my neck of the woods.
Needless to say I never in a bizzilion years expected another person to use that term.
But..... You have the white board of knowledge!! Very cool. I guess it's a small world!
I'm learning tons from your videos. Brian

To avoid buying so many boxes, can I just take take the list of possible parts for an error code to Autozone when I see that code? The first video of yours that I watched I understood the connection between you and your name (schrodingers box). To me it's a practical joke on scientist's whether the cat is dead or alive. They don't know, they can only guess, much like the 98% they say it's both..........dead and alive LOL. To me the name fits perfect with your sense of irony and sarcasm. I don't know if this is what you were going for, just how I see it. Also, shame on you! You got me with the box's!! I really thought a terrific hack was coming.........I should have known LOL

If you decide to make a Part 4, here's a hack you can try and see if you think it is useful. For stripped out bolt threads, you can either spend your lunch money on a package of helicoils, or you can use several strands of copper wire laid out crossing the bolt hole in various angles, insert the bolt, and it will tighten up with the copper forming into what remains of the grooves...you'll still get to eat lunch that day!

To add to your fingernail tip (punnnnnnnnnnnn). Vaseline on your hands will ensure they will come clean afterwards. It fills in the cracks and crevasses so the dirt and grease doesn't.
