I'm gonna tell you something about this type of riffs Wes Borland has: they stimulate specific parts of my brain that makes me feel so peaceful and comfortable when I heard them. I can describe this type of experience as Magical. Thank you, Wes.
I could listen to this guitar beat for the rest of my life. So much nostalgia and emotion listening to this and the song as a whole. I was 10 years old and remember exactly when this song came out back in February of 2001, I was hooked. Then when WWF announced this song was going to be the official theme song for WrestleMania 17 in April that year, I fell to the floor excited as hell. This song being incorporated in the Rock vs Austin WrestleMania promo was very beautiful and joyful. Wes Borland, you're a genius!!!
Wes Borland is my favorite guitar player, has been 15 years. I mean listen to his creativity. It’s breath taking. And just dark with light. I mean listen to the effects he uses, they are like none other. So on edge and controlled at the same time. Sounds like more than one guitar which means your really hanging it out there. MAN that sound at 0:46 , THAT delay is set so perfect that it bounces off of the bass rhythm beat and sounds like 2 guitars at once. So damn amazing
Dude just had the Midas touch when it comes to melody and riffs. Definitely up there on my list of favorite guitarists and maybe my favorite riff writer. Hopefully the next album has more bouncy heavy riffs he’s known for. Out of Style was a perfect example
Ikr? I fucking love melodic atmospheric breakdowns like that. I love when he just strums the main chords at 3:03. Sounds so profound to me. They sound so amazing and wide open especially in C# standard tuning :)

It does take skill. Just because it isn't hard for you to play doesn't mean it's not good. Something minimal can sound so much better and invoke more emotion than something complex that someone tried too hard to show off on. Wes is a great player. Limp Bizkit as a band are amazing. Listen to some of their jam sessions like the one captured in their 16m song 'Everything'. Wes has been in many other bands like Black Light Burns, Eat the Day, Daming Well and Big Dumb Face but none compare to LB.
I think people overlook a huge aspect of musical skill: Being able to write something that sounds good. You can be the most technically sound bedroom player on the planet and maybe run rings around Wes Borland doing scales and sweeps if you sat down next to him and started shredding, but he's written a lot of songs that got radio play, music video play, earned them top billing on tours and netted the band millions of dollars. Ask yourself: Have you?
I’ve always wanted a full Limp Bizkit album of just Instrumentals. A full Wes album of limp bizkit guitars would be amazing as well. The entire band is awesome, I really wish they had all their albums with instrumental versions. Fred’s Voice tends to hold the band back in my opinion. Wes is the most underrated Guitarist.

Fred is damn sure underrated as a vocalist. Wes, is underrated on not just Earth, but Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and every other planet. Enjoy what they've given us. We will never experience anything like this again.
this song inspired me to rip recording software off limewire so i can start laying my own guitar riffs down when I was 15 years old. I saw the music video on MTV one summer afternoon and Wes Borland's tone and emotion impacted the hell out of me.
also Wes has this super insanely rare amp fromt he 1950s called a Selmer Zodiac Twin, where the EQ is like, push buttoned in. He uses it on this song, and also on Loser from Gold Cobra. But this sounds better cause he was playing Mesa Boogie for the distorted parts here, whereas on GC he played orange amps, which fucking suck
I think wes is a very underrated guitar player.. Is a pity cause the sound is him in the LB and then come Dj lethal..but first come him, experimental sound with a bunch of effects..he play more easy chords but is a creative genius! Take the song "the one" and "nookie"...the only guitar player who play 4 strings guitar..genius!
It’s back to the early 2000’s, I was a kid, life was simple, life was fun, my grandparents were still around. The world was mad but not crazy PC, woke like it is today. I had friends, girls didn’t get in the way. Skateboarding, ps1 and 2 up all night staying over at friends. You used to go and call on them to see if they wanted to hang.
That's what I'm saying, this did not take skill lol I honestly don't think he even tried I think he just threw something together in a few minutes just to get a song out of the way. I've seen him play pretty good stuff but this is so crappy I'm shocked he did it. He could have been in a better band for sure
I love this guitar melody so much
Music is Life it's just Wes
Check out my melody

I know exactly that feeling, it's the same for me
Same for me. Especially the solo part of My Way that’s my favorite part ever out of all their songs 🙌
Agreed.
Same here
Thank you for putting this in words
Wes Borland is an underrated guitar player.

im learning this song rn, i came for that riff at :46. you are so right about the delay. this riff is so magical i wanted a lil piece too
Wes is the reason i started playing guitar 12 years ago ,he looked so badass !!
same man!
The bridge part gave the same feeling of RHCP's Californication solo part. Love these bands ❤
Dude just had the Midas touch when it comes to melody and riffs. Definitely up there on my list of favorite guitarists and maybe my favorite riff writer. Hopefully the next album has more bouncy heavy riffs he’s known for. Out of Style was a perfect example
the Melodic bridge in 2:44sec makes me get lost in that sound, I can hear this all day

That part reminds me of Pantera - Floods outro. Some influence maybe?
@@laurisaarinen1126 i can see the similarity. for me it sounds a bit like californication riff
This is such a cool melody. Gives me very interesting vibes. Especially with the reverb and delay on the clean riff
Wes goes so hard in the song. It’s just something about the song’s intro and consistent rockabilly-type riffs.
Music is about what you feel not about difficulty. It doesn't make sense to call a song "nice" or a musician "skilled" because the music is difficult.
That's contradicting a
Because that's like saying all musicians are just as good as long as it sounds good to you. No. Skill does exist

It's not about create super hard riffs and play them so technical but to be as musical as posible. Wes clearly can do that...
the distortion riffs are pretty hard to replicate and play. The clean verse is not easy as well
Agreed, never liked complicated songs from many Thrash metal bands

N3XUSP0LARIS yeah or at least get a good talented vocalist
@@patricklauer4452 Wes did release two albums with just instrumentals with his old band Eat The Day. He played the 4-string like a bass. Check it out!

2:45 always reminds me a little bit of the outro to Floods by Pantera. Maybe there was some inspiration there.
They are very similar chord shapes.
Exactly! both legends
Best bridge ever 0:46 !!
this guitar part is a master piece of the genre
these chords sound so epic and like from another dimenson.
Borlands riffs may seem simple but they’re iconic as hell.
Im never gonna forget the first time my dad showed me limp Bizkit, it was like a gift♡
Thx U Dad🤘🏿
Always got Heart Shaped Box vibes from this song.
Wes Borland is living legend, And bass guitar is also unique ❤️love you all listeners
What a classic, simple but so memorable and signature riff! Wish this was my theme music wherever I enter. Dont need the lyrics just this instrumental

he recorded it on a prs ce 24

An Ibanez Tonelok Flanger pedal with a setting called "Wackd"

Depression and being bullied. Thank you Wes
Can somebody explain the effect / tone in the verse?
When the electric guitar riffles on the 450 the notes get higher if u put the bass on +0.6 so the paranomormical effect gets higher momentum
how do you get these stems? this is fantastic

Where do you find guitar only?
🌏💓🎶👍 Does anybody really know the secret or the combination of this life and where to keep it?
I can tell Wes Borland is influenced by Adam Jones. Creates some lush clean guitar sounds while playing in a metal band.

feels like very spatial
takes skill though, to play a simple tune that sounds good and invokes
Protip: Play this at half the speed for maximum appreciation.
