I’m proud to had a quite long experience as a singer on Viking.
It's really sad that Amorella is gone now, I've been on Amorella many times and have many (mostly forgotten lol) memories from it. Viking Glory is just not as good, I could even slightly move the wall in my cabin somehow
Viking Glory just feels really cheap, it's like they tried to make it look luxurious with everything being painted gold, but they've definitely overdone it. Amorella just had a charm to it that Viking Glory doesn't have.

Olympia and Mariella are siserships. Olympia was sold in 1993 and now her name is SPL Princess Anastasia, operating for St. Peters Line

In the 60s and 70s Viking line were a sort of nautical take on Dan Air. Every 2 years we used to drive from the UK to spend the Summer in Finland with my grandparents. Part of that involved the 12 hour ferry ride from Nortalje in Sweden to Turku in Finland. There were two ferry companies. Silja and Viking. Silja was the posh one with beautiful modern boats, clean, good food etc.
Viking was not posh...If the wind was right you could smell a Viking boat a full hour before you passed it. Their boats would not have looked out of place at Scapa Flow. Alcohol tourism was rife on both lines, but Viking had a real reputation for that and several times each Summer there would be a report of someone falling overboard. At least in the archipelago land was never far away! Needless to say my parents never booked on Viking...
