I typically overexhaust myself (with cleaning and prepping) before people get here and then I don’t even want to be around people. When I am tired it does not create a welcoming atmosphere. It doesn’t matter how beautiful the place is if I am grumpy and my energy is low.
I teach master classes in holiday decor and entertaining. This is the best of the best. I will absolutely be using the "Don't apologize for your house" tip. Love it! Thank you!
I love charcuterie! We have people over fairly regularly, and charcuterie is perfect! I just alternate the styles and flavors on the board so it doesn't get boring. It's a lifesaver!
I have to say a good hard salami with the harder gouda from Holland with a fresh artisan bread is life changing...also crackers with cream cheese and dried cranberries are a tried and true favorite 😋. Oh man...now I'm hungry! 😂
Such good ideas!! I was part of a ladies group once. We took turns hosting, one person a month. The rules were that you taught everyone else something (our activity) and you were not allowed to apologize for your house! 😂
Great tips. Beautifully done, but may I include that eating while prepping for others may throw guests off a bit. Many people are leery of eating at other people’s homes so being mindful of cross contamination is very important to me.
I just joined and I'm binge watching your Christmas series, you have a beautiful home. I've been entertaining for years and I just learned something new that never apologize for things to your guest, I never thought about that, Thank you for sharing that. Your spread looks so beautiful and delicious and your mom did an amazing job on that cake. I see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. 🤎🌿
I done my early Christmas last Sunday, made the children get involved with sparkle fruit juice as us Adults had mulled wine and prosecco. Then I done nibbles followed by a chille help your self followed by mince pie and chocolate cake... On arrival we played the Bobo Christmas present game 😂😂😂 it went down a treat Now getting prepared for Boxing day
Thank you for emphasising that it is not necessary nor advised to apologise for your house. I have not entertained because my home needs a lick of paint, the kitchen and bathroom need refurbishment and my living room chairs need re upholstering desperately. I need to stop trying for perfection and just enjoy the moment . Eating and drinking with fellow humans is what we have done as a community since the beginning of time why set yourself up for failure just have a great time!

Lol! I felt like that a few times:) I get what you are saying.
That’s how I used to host as well! It’s so much more enjoyable to take that stress off. ❤️❤️
Omg this sounds like me I'm very tired attitude out of nowhere. &&& I have to separate myself for at lest 30mins before I can be around anybbody🤦♀️
Sounds like me right now, before my party tomorrow! Attitude adjustment is in order! Thanks!
Less is best! Stop trying to impress! Most people just want to enjoy good company, laughter, and a cheerful host. Right?
