This is definitely more early 90s look for models or movies, which was really just an extension of the late 80s but with more neon. The crimped hair look is easy to get with small braids. Regular girls didn't do the full spectrum neon look on the eyes, but it's more inspired by pictures of 80s models which is okay. Regular girls in the late 80s did one, maybe two colors on the eyes but the way extra color was added was using colored eyeliner like teal, and colored mascara like purple with their eyeshadow. Also, it's a myth that 80s-early 90s girls didn't use highlighter. Highlighting was done, it just wasn't with a specific product called highlighter. We definitely carved out our cheekbones, we just used two different blush shades. Many girls only used the dark shade in the hollow and swept out toward their temples and outside to the brow bone. Others did that and then did a lighter pink on the actual cheek. It was definitely a more obvious and dramatic look but that's what was in style. Women becoming bold and artistic with "the most possible presence" was the vibe and it reflected in how hair and makeup were done.
I can remember my mum having a three colour blush kit and it had a really dark shade to put in the hollow under the cheekbones, a bright for the cheekbones and a shimmery light colour for the top of the cheekbones.
Great tutorial. I remember in the 80s following a tutorial out of a pop magazine for Toyah Wilson. Pre TH-cam, so lots of photos of different stages. I am going to attempt something similar to this for an 80s party next week xx
Thank you!! 🥰 You can find it online at kimchichicbeauty.com or they actually just got into some CVS locations!! So you can check their site to see if they are in any near you! 💕
I am going to braid my hair the night before as well. I used to do that in the 80s before I owned a crimper. Wish I still owned one it would be much easier.
Another phenomenal look! The music choice this week was too notch, too. Have you tried searching specifically for makeup advertisements? I feel like back in the day makeup advertisements (in magazines and stuff) always had a photo of someone in a full glam look to show off the product! Maybe that will help in finding era specific looks that aren’t inspired looks?
Thank you for watching!! 🥺❤️ Oh you know what that’s such a good idea!!! My dumbass just googled 80s makeup and went through those images but that probably would have been easier!! You’re a genius 💖
You made this pretty simple, I love it!! I'm not that good with makeup, lol. My birthday is in August, turning 35 😩 I want an 80s themed look, I already bought my shirt that says I love the 80s, fishnet gloves and 80s looking earrings lol. Just needed the makeup! I will definitely practice!! 💙 Thank you!!! 😊
@@TheresaKilgore Thank you!! I kinda tried it, I say that because I was rushing a little. And I actually like it! I just need more brushes, but it looks pretty decent, especially for my first time lol. Again, THANK YOU!! 😁💙
I was a teen in the 80s and I can guarantee you nobody wear their make up like this 🤭you’re looking at models makeup was very basic in the 1980s you had brown shadows for brown eyes green for eyes and blue for blue eyes 🤔there wasn’t no setting powder there wasn’t any brushes you put your make up on with your fingers that’s all we had back in the day look at the movies look at breakfast club look at that make up basic simple we didn’t look like bozo the clown🤯🤣😂🤪
This was so fun! I'm ushering for Rock of Ages and I needed a good 80's look! Thanks!
Omg how cool!! Happy to help! 🤘🏻🎸❤️
Love theming the robe and headband. Truly an eighties Barbie doll in style and spirit!
Thank you so much friend!! It means a lot coming from a fellow Barbie lover 💖

This was super insightful!! I definitely just pulled inspiration from 80s models so that’s probably why it was reminiscent of that!!
