Everyone saying 'her hair is damaged' 1.) it's a wig 2.) it's supposed to look that way! It's supposed to look like an authentic 80s hair. People back then had messed up hair from perms and stuff. 3.) it's not actually ruining the hair. The diffuser give it that look. 4.) he barely teased anything so there is minimum damage. I tease my hair all the time and it's perfectly fine. You have to know how to take it out right if you don't want too much breakage.
Hi! I tease my hair all the time too!!!!! I got some dread locks but I was an itiot and didn't brush my hair out well I still tease it and it looks great!!!
People keep saying like when you dry your hair with a hair dryer and comb it to get a look using heat it damages it , it really doesn’t damage hair unless you have been doing it in the same spot using for about 20 seconds
@@monikabarbie7453 hey! a difuser is something you add into ur dryer! it goes in the ‘’mouth’’ of it. it’s really easy to find and it’s usually used by people with curly hair to keep the shape of the curl
I found my Prom hair, I have this amazing green floral velvet dress with shoulder pads and my date has a brown plaid suit with elbow patches. So excited
It's so funny that you commented on this today.. I was just thinking I am going to give myself some bangs and start doing this on the regular so I found this 9 year old video! What a trip..
Lol finally someone nailed 80s hair! Crazy thing is we did this every day and it took a long time! I was glad to see you do the side scoop as everyone did that. Generally with most 80s hair shown today people forget or don’t know about the hairspray hair dryer trick 😊
Best tutorial on this. Also you need a pretty damaged hair to look like a perfect 80s hairdo. Nowadays hair is not damaged anymore so is hard to recreate that style really.
The wig was already very thick and textured. I don't think I'd have the time or determination to get it more textured than that, but man, she really did look like a member of a rock group.
Now I'll just go in my time machine to the 80's, where this look was considered 'hott'. lol I wouldn't wear this normally. But I'd do it for 80's inspired party/club/halloween. You did a very well job!
My mom used to style my bangs (and hers) like that. She split the top and bottom like the video but she used a curling iron to curl the bottom under and the top back and then fluffed it with a comb and a hell of a lot of aqua net.
Ummm....THAT....was kind of amazing, and it's what I've been searching for on youtube...for....forever. So thank you for finally having something useful on this sort of hair.
We always used 1/2 curling iron and done three or two back curls in n the bangs and then one under. Or all the bangs curled back and then teased out with a teasing comb and styled feathered back with a pick.
Styling this way for an 80s Halloween party tonight. I think what really gives it an extra oomph is that last detail of spraying the hair up and away from the ears!
Yep, you rocked it. Looking GOOOOOD! That is how we used to wear our hair. Lots of backcombing and hairspray, LOL! I often looked like I had just got out of bed, or been dragged through a hedge. Very much like Lockdown hair.
when i become rich i am going to hire you to be my personal hair stylist. even though im 15 i live in a pure 80s rock world and watching this video i almost cried!!! peace love and rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most of us had a lot more layering cut into the hair so it was only a 3+ or so inches long on the whole top and much easier to make big. I never used a diffuser and rarely teased it; I either had a perm or did it all with a curling iron and regular dryer to really set it (and a ton of product of course).
Well it just depended on the girl and her hair style as to how much time they spent. I remember girls saying they had to spend an hour on their hair each morning, others not so long. Anyway, a lot of girls just got a spiral perm with small curlers. Some would kind of have it burned so it had a permanent teased appearance anyway. So they didn't have to spend nearly as much time on it. Just pick it out, add hair spray, and go.
Theodore is a hair expert. You may have seen him as a guest on our talk show, Close Up & Personal. Don't worry, Daven is not gone! You'll still see more of him and Theodore in future videos on FAWN! :)
began doing this hairstyle in the 80s and yes, I still rock big hair and faux hawks. I love my Punk rock/heavy metal style. I will never change, that is who I am. However, I do it way differently than you do. No diffusers, mineral oil, etc. Just me my brush and a can of Aqua Net! lol
I like his blunt sarcasm and how he looks not so thrilled at some points (unlike the forced "happy go lucky" or "i'm so serious" vibe other people have). Also, I love how he didn't bust out a bunch of tools and suggest we spend 4 hours crimping bumps into our hair.
That's the same when girl does 80s make-up with modern cosmetics, since there's no makeup cosmetic from 80s available anymore. I don't care what he had used, the fact that it came out amazing matters.
I love 80's hairstyles. I'm a 15 year old guy, born in the wrong generation. I have long hair, I love Metal and Rock, Muscle Cars, and old Horror movies. I wish I was Generation X instead of Z. Missed it by a few decades. Anyone else with me?
I grew up in this time period and you all spent WAY too much time trying to achieve this look. We liked the bottom half of our hair to just hang naturally after it was blow dried and then we teased and hair sprayed the top and sides for volume. Thank God for Aquanet!
The real 80's look starts with a perm. Then tease, spray, tease, spray and tease some more. Use a curling iron to curl your bangs under. More teasing and then a final spray. That's how we did it!
Get a perm. Use some mousse on wet hair, then blow dry your hair upside down. Put in hot rollers until cooled then take out curlers,a nd pick out your style. You can teeze to get even more height, then spray generously with Aquanette.

Lauren fxoxo It'd be a bit of a struggle for me.I have straight hair;not that voluminous
No one in the 80's wasted THAT much time doing their big hair. We already had perms, our hair was already fried and it was just tease, spray, go.
Jennifer Maynard that's why you have to fake it these days lol
