Brings back nice memories of our round trip on the Jacobite Train in mid August 2017. You had a nice sunny weather, quite lucky, unlike ours in August. Beautiful video, it's like reliving the experience. Luigi & family from Malta

Really nice after you left your coach seat and all the noisy people. I love the sound of the train on the tracks and I could let go of the mute button...

Hi guys, would you be willing to allow us to use a brief excerpt of your footage for a music video - it is a cover of a Big Country song and in the original they had some footage of the train back in the 80S which we are trying to reference. We would credit you of course.

If you want to see just the line itself - and it is very beautiful and, in places, spectacular, the Scotrail diesel service is only a quarter the cost of the Jacobite, and is rarely crowded. The views from the windows are better too!

Sorry, but there is no such thing as the Great Glen Way Canal (at 15:25). It is called the Caledonian Canal and was opened in 1822. The Great Glen Way is a walking and cycling trail between Fort William and Inverness and was only opened in 2002. It parallels the canal for the most part and both run through the Great Glen.

Gourockian1, I assume that you are correct, but I don't make things up on my videos. If I identified the canal as the Great Glen Way Canal, there must have been something calling it by that name when I looked it up. I know that I consulted several online sources to find names of places for this video, but I know that such sources can sometimes be in error.

@@youtuuba I didn't mean to imply that you had made it up but after taking a quick look on Google Maps, I can see why you might have mistaken the name. It has multiple labels showing Great Glen Way alongside the canal, leaving Corpach but that is actually referring to the trail, not the canal itself. It does not seem to have any mention of Caledonian Canal, apart from a single tag when searching under that name.
Unfortunately, Google Maps are renowned for inaccuracies regarding basic things like street names etc. so it is not surprising that they omitted the canal's correct name. Further info can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caledonian_Canal

Good video but I still prefer the Durango to Silverton in Colorado for scenery and the experience of a vintage steam train.
