If it’s a Lan video, it’s an instant click - her recipes and breakdowns are always incredible - and her _techniquely_ series is hands down my favorite of all of ATK
Hey Bridget, my daughter gave me an Instant Vortex mini for Christmas. My kitchen is tiny too, so I hear you! It's awesome and a perfect size. It stores away when I'm not using it but I'm finding myself using it several times a week!
Thank you for explaining a little better why air fryers are so good at what they did. I've been calling them little convection ovens but did not realized that one of the mechanisms by which they work was by pulling moisture away. I guess since convection is used in steam ovens that air fryers would use the humidity.
They've admitted before that they often use a special version of the thermometer for the cameras. They press a button and the desired temperature appears on the display.
Tried it today. Absolutely brilliant. I added a mix of flour and cornflour to the egg to reduce gluten. This was legit the lightest crispy chicken I've ever had, and the crunch was really good.
Love the content. I was a holdout initially on air fryers, but their functionality and efficiency are undeniable and they are here to stay. I have a bag full of frozen chicken breast waiting to be sandwiched 😋
Thank you Lan! Been wanting to make my own of these for a while but felt clueless in the chicken department. And you are always such a pleasure to learn from.
We made this tonight and it was amazing! We love all your recipes and techniques. Thanks to you, my family thinks I know what I'm doing in the kitchen.
I resisted buying an air fryer for years, thinking it was just another fad. I saw that it was not going away, instead there were even more recipes being published. I finally bought a small Cosari air fryer. I now use it almost daily! For a single person like me, it works out well, I can have things cooked and eaten almost in the time it takes my big oven to preheat. There is a learning curve, but it is not that steep, so if you have been on the fence, I say get an air fryer!
Why yes, this recipe segment did end rather abruptly. The last 45 seconds: Lan: And the nice balanced heat. It kind of hits you up front and then it mellows, but it's warm. Bridget: You were saying right - the crunch of the lettuce and the crunch of the chicken together? L: Yeah, it's great. B: Here comes the heat - little bit of heat L: Mm-hmm B: Loving it. Well - I'm sold! Thanks, Lan! L: You're welcome! B: If you'd like to make crunchy and spicy chicken sandwiches straight out of the air fryer, first toast panko for a crisp texture, add a little four to the egg mixture to help with binding and add in the heat at every step. So from America's Test Kitchen, right out of the air fryer it's spicy fried-chicken sandwiches. L: Who are you calling an air fryer? B: Air fryer B: : Air fryer B: I've been called worse.
Tried this out and was very happy with the result. Using Panko breadcrumbs are essential for the bigger crispier texture. I'm keen to try marinating in buttermilk next time around to see if that adds more flavour to the chicken
Wow I’m impressed. I know what I am making for supper tomorrow. I have the same air fryer (thanks to your equipment assessment segments) I also make fish fries too, yummm
I made this recipe and it was fantastic! Very delicious!!! I liked pickling the peppers. Thanks for the instructions. First time making chicken in my air fryer and it was a success. Yum!
I made this last night, 10/10. Even my sister, over to watch the football game, who doesn't like spicy foods thought the spice was right on point. I made it with Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Excellent recipe and it did only take about 30 minutes to make. Oh, and I made it with chicken thighs, still perfect!
This was sooo good!! I don't like spicy, so I just substituted Chick fil A sauce for the hot sauce and followed the rest of the recipe as written. My chicken cooked a minute or two faster, but no worries because I checked it early. It was wonderfully browned with a nice crunch yet tender and juicy inside. Finally found a good air fryer recipe - thanks so much!!
I like the fryer but haven't tried battered chicken because I thought it would end up soggy and the fryer messy. This is perfect. Thanks for the ideas.
Just made these and can't stop thinking about how good they are! I froze half of my batch before frying, interested to see how they turn out. I guess I have to have another one tomorrow :P
I will be giving this a try for sure. My parents bought me the larger Instant air fryer last christmas without me asking for one and I wasn't very sure about it. It's slowly grown on me! I will never do chicken wings or french fries in the oven again!!!
You could probably prep a bunch of these using fresh chicken, freeze them, and pop them in a hot air fryer when needed. You can cook any meat directly from frozen in an air fryer and it comes out delicious.
Just tried this recipe since it seemed so easy. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs and reduced the air fryer temp to 375 to slow the browning and cook the thighs to a higher temp. Good lord it’s a great chicken sandwich…although I’d probably add some cayenne and hot sauce to the batter to make it a bit more spicy
Looked like the browning on the cutlets was a little uneven. Would a little spray oil before cooking help? I’m still on the fence on getting an air fryer. I have only so much cabinet and counter space. Love Lan’s videos.
I wish there were some recipes producing crispy exteriors that don’t require flour or bread - for those 10’s of thousands of us who diligently follow the health promoting lowest carb or carnivore diets. Like using crushed pork rinds, without chemical additives. I’ve made my own and had a little success making good things with them, but you folks could provide some tremendous guidance for the best flavor and techniques. TIA!
Most recipes, you can just swap out the ground up pork rinds for panko and almond flour for regular flour. I use cream or half and half instead of milk.
I do not like deep frying at all, and haven't had much success with making crispy things in the air fryer that rival deep frying. That trick of microwaving the bread crumbs with oil...genius!!
Lan, Would you have alternative recipe to this spicy chicken sandwich, please? I want to use our air fryer, and this intrigues me. Looking for a different flavor profile, than this spicy one. Maybe I can use less in this one and make it mild. Thank you for posting this video.
I'm going to try this low carb style. Almond flour instead of the regular flour in the batter and ground up pork rinds instead of panko. I'll miss the bun but it should still be delicious.
@@nancycy9039 Almond flour won't thicken sauces but I've used it successfully when breading. I might get a better result by just using the pork rinds but perhaps an experiment is an order. 👍🏼
Lan, I love your videos. What is the alternative to microwaving the panko and EVOO? (My microwave quit working and I didn't replace it. I, for the most part, have not missed it.)
You don't need to mix the oil with the breadcrumbs. Just give them a spray before you close the drawer. Also. Instead of panko, try corn flakes. Trust me on this.
Lan is always amazing. I hope to see more air fryer stuff coming from her.
Not every recipe you see Lan present was developed by her, but she is a great explainer.
Agreed on both points. This recipe is solid.
They should put her in the airfryer
from her what?
Okay mixing the oil and breadcrumbs was genus

I love this woman's vibe. She has a special way about her~
Lan is the best. She always looks to bring the best of any tool and technique available for chefs. You learn so much watching her every time!!
More Air-Fryer recipes, please 🙏
ATK'S already published at least two air fryer cookbooks.
This looks so much easier than all the stations to dip the chicken into. This will work for my tiny kitchen counter.
I made this today. The recipe is easy as can be. The chicken came out juice but still crispy. 10/10
These ladies have the best recipes for home cooks. Fast, easy, delicious and nutritious. They are a credit to their craft.
Mixing the egg and flour to make a batter to save trouble,✅ smarter, not harder😊
Lan is the bomb.

I have the mini and I love it!!
I have this specific air fryer, purchased on ATK’s recommendation. It is a quality appliance. Definitely happy with it.
Awesome! Bridget and Lan are superb together.

I love how the temperature of the food is always right on the button. A little creative editing? Never has mine been perfect temperature every time.
Oh for sure
They've admitted before that they often use a special version of the thermometer for the cameras. They press a button and the desired temperature appears on the display.
Yeah. Same thought crossed my mind.

Everything Lan makes is a treat!

At first I was like, "Airfryer chicken sandwich? Impossible!" But then I'm like, "It's Lan! Please tell me more!"
Thank you Lan! Been wanting to make my own of these for a while but felt clueless in the chicken department. And you are always such a pleasure to learn from.
Lan is the GOAT
She totally is!!

This is a great idea! I like how you guys explained the reasoning for every step, that will be very helpful for new cooks
Thank you for this one, Lan. Gotta try it. Love clicking on your videos.
More air fryer videos!

This is a great recipe with very useful shortcuts!
I may actually get an air fryer just because of this.
Was just thinking the same, Christmas pricing is coming
Love mine - use it for so many things - pork chops /lamb chops /reheat steaks / pizza etc
I made this recipe and it was fantastic! Very delicious!!! I liked pickling the peppers. Thanks for the instructions. First time making chicken in my air fryer and it was a success. Yum!
Lan, I think you just convinced me that I need an airfryer.
Love you are doing recipes using Air fryers 👏🏾

I love the idea of mixing the oil with the bread crumbs ❤❤
Really clever techniques!
You ladies are so beautiful keep up the good work. For some reason I can't get you all on regular TV but I'm trying real hard to make it happen
I'm not an air fryer fan but that actually looked really good.
Awesome, we use our air fryer often, this recipe I must try.
I make just the chicken and it turned out really good, thanks.
Amazing… I need to start thawing some chicken, now! I can’t wait to try these.
thaw 😢
Yeah! This worked for me. I just need to cut back on some of the salt. Thank you, Lan.
Lan is the GOAT amongst the ATK staff
Definitely will try this for dinner this week. Thanks, Lan ❤
I have a cosori dual blaze and love it! It's the best air fryer hands down
I’ve made this a few times, always a favorite.
I like the fryer but haven't tried battered chicken because I thought it would end up soggy and the fryer messy. This is perfect. Thanks for the ideas.
It's simple: I see Lan, I click. 😂this will make good spicy, crispy chicken sandwiches. Thank you!
Tastes better than any fried chicken in the restaurants.
5:12 , it is a small convectional;
5:45 instant pot air fryer 400F, 12 min.
This turned out amazing!!
Just made these and can't stop thinking about how good they are! I froze half of my batch before frying, interested to see how they turn out. I guess I have to have another one tomorrow :P
Lan Lam should start her own TH-cam channel now. She can be featured on ATC while building another option to share her talents.
i like this as a follow up to her other video where she made the schnitzel. I've been curious about the air fryers too
I definitely want to try this!! Looks simple and so delicious 🤤😋

next time put your wallet somewhere safe 🙏
Mmmm. I made this last evening. Wow so good!
Love the Breadcrumbs technique!
love it ??! 😮
thank you for this video, ive been trying to make crispy stuff in the air fryer w/o buying the frozen stuff

You guys really are amazing. Love you!!! ❤
I have that same air fryer and your hosts of gear heads recommend it love it and use it all the time .
yes!...I will try this 100% Looks fantastic !!
That looks delicious.
Awesome recipe 🌸
Beautiful! Use my air fryer/toaster oven for everything but turkey.
You can also pre- brown the breadcrumbs in the pan with very little oil if you’re watching the fat level..
Thank you. Skipping the second dish. Will add a slice of tomatoes.
miam miam miam, this looks so tasty, I added many ingredients to my shopping list for later this week. Thank you and looking for more airfryer recepes
This recipe looks really good! Making sandwiches tonight! I have the same Air Fryer, but I've only done tater tots. This should be fun!

Pork has lot of fat and is not good for you. It’s forbidden to eat it for a reason.
Most recipes, you can just swap out the ground up pork rinds for panko and almond flour for regular flour. I use cream or half and half instead of milk.
Thanks. I’ve tried them in meatloaf, which is ‘ok’. Not sure why, but haven’t tried in recipes like this one. On the to-do list now.
By adding to the oil to the panko, do you not have to spray the chicken with additional oil prior to air frying?
This was amazing. We used gluten free panko and a gluten free bun, and topped it with some smokey cheddar and it was a 10. Thanks for the recipe!
are you working for the anti gluten federation?
@billie6399 lol nope I just have a wife that gets an allergic reaction when she eats gluten, so we avoid it :)

I'm going to try this low carb style. Almond flour instead of the regular flour in the batter and ground up pork rinds instead of panko. I'll miss the bun but it should still be delicious.
Almond flour doesn’t thicken or bind liquids, though, does it?

do you like manbuns? it is also lowcarb
Lan, I love your videos. What is the alternative to microwaving the panko and EVOO? (My microwave quit working and I didn't replace it. I, for the most part, have not missed it.)
Toasting in a frying pan on a lowish heat should work.
We don’t often find charm these days, but Lan Lam has it.
Love this and can’t wait to try it
A slice of Hatch Green Chile cheese and you have air fryer perfection 🙂
You don't need to mix the oil with the breadcrumbs. Just give them a spray before you close the drawer.
Also. Instead of panko, try corn flakes. Trust me on this.
Spray contains vegetable oil types unhealthy for us.
If you don’t have an air fryer can you use the oven convection setting?
Delicious ❤
Thank you for this video!!
Can i substitute the hot sauce for chilli powder, or just leave it out entirely?
Definitely going to try this
I need to try this.
Can these be meal prepped with the Panko and then frozen??
