Nice work, man! Your getting the hang of it! Every fukup is a learning experience and plays into developing more efficient, foolproof ways of doing it next time. A lot of the nuances of wooden boat building and repair have been covered over by the sands of time and us mad lads taking on these restoration projects have to dig up the old ways and fuse them with modern tools, materials and techniques to get these vessels back on the water. its a lot of work, but well worth it. And fun.
OK Buddy boy, great thinking, planing and follow thru. Now if you can relax a bit more you will start to enjoy yourself. Oh, If you wish to keep that wood plane Blade sharp, always REST it in its SIDE, not the Blade. You are doing well under crappy circumstamces, so go with the flow a little better. @@richmelillo9637 good point about protecting the plane 👍 Right now I'm smoothing down all the new planking sections to match the rest of the hull - it's becoming my favourite job!
@@dunkirkdowager That is more like it! You Must enjoy your work, or just stop. Take your time, relax, each piece is making History! Sure you will make mistakes, but others do also! That is ok, each is a learning step.. Oh, one of the best ways to keep your tarp from being ripped by wind is to use LINES OVER the tarp as well, anchored on each side. The wind will still strain and rip it but LESS. Hang in there! One step at a time! Cheers, Rich
You really need to invest in a cutoff saw! Oh man the way you're doing that is going to take you forever! It just will make your diagonal cuts go quicker.
I wonder if there is a way a guy could make some supports to hold the tarp out and have a better shelter cover that was lashed down and not flopping in the wind and annoying a guy till he is cussing up a storm?
