I used an audio meter to measure the sound levels and the red unit was quieter than the black unit. You may not have noticed yourself doing this, but, on the black unit, you left the pulse switch in the lower speed setting when you were alternating between the red and black units. Look at 4:20+ and you can see switching between the high (switch up) and low (switch down). Then at 4:39, you put the switch in low and leave it there for the comparison a 2nd time & final judgement.
I have the Vitamix 750 at home plus the 32oz container at home. I use both daily. I used to work for Sur La Table. As far as the container fitting under your cabinets it's actually advertised as fitting under "Most" cabinets. If you have small kids running around the 750 is the best way to go because of the preset features. You can turn it on and it will shut itself off. Also with the 300 and the 750 they have the higher 2.2hp motor vs. the standard 2 which will do the jobs more quickly.
Just got the VM Professional Series 750. LOVE IT!!! It does fit under my kitchen cabinets with plenty of room left over but to be fair my cabinets were just installed and they are raised high.
for the longevity of your blender, start the thing on setting 1 or 2, then dial it up. That harsh clicking sound is the motor going from 0 to 999 immediately, which is pretty taxing on the socket, I'd imagine.
So for quick comparison on noise: G Series Vitamix Pro 530 1:33 | w/ water 3:58 C Series Vitamix 5200 64oz: 2:18 | w/ water 5:33 C Series Vitamix 5200 32oz: 3:22 | w/ water 4:20
Very nice job! I just got the 5200 3 weeks ago. Wondered if I would like the newer one better. This comparison lets me know I am set! I have ordered the Dry container and am trying to decide now whether to get the smaller 32 oz. or 48 oz for smaller projects. Thank you and enjoy your new VitaMix!
Great review of these blenders. We just got the 750 model and after seeing many of the comparison videos it's fairly close in sound to the 5200 & 300 Pro model. We really like the 5 preset options on the 750 which enables us to make smoothies, frozen desserts, soups, puree's and to clean the pitcher easily. We got rid of a KitchenAid Pro and Ninja Ultimate blenders because the Vita Mix does everything they did and a LOT more. Thanks for sharing.
I love my 5200 and will continue using it. I have not had any problems and the noise really is not that bad. I have a large kitchen and the only thing they could of added was a pulse, But as far as moving up I have no plans to. Love the 5200
Your vitamix will probably never die and to be honest being a chef I have used many different and there are none like the Vitamix.l They are hands down the best.
Thanks for this BUT...would've been more useful to see a finished smoothie along with your comments as to the smoothness/consistency they make, as opposed to noise or fitting under the counter. Most will find that with a standard 18" counter or higher, the height won't matter and/or use a smaller 300 container if it is, and to be honest the noise is considerable for either so WTF lol
The noise comparison test was done wrong because the 5200 was not flipped to high. High on the 5200 is the same as 10 on the 300 and other G series blenders. The 5200 has a louder higher pitch tone. You cant go wrong with either choice though. It's all personal preference and budget allowance.
Yes, you are correct - the first comparison I did wrong. Later in the video, it is flipped up to high and you get an equal comparison. Thanks for your note!
Agapemom, you are right. At the beginning when I crush the ice, I am using the 5200 on variable 10. I should have put it also on high. However, at about 4:30 min in the video, you can see and hear the 5200 on high. Is the pro "pulse" button not the same as "high" on the 5200? I assumed they were the same when I was using it. This video is actually my very first time using the vitamix. I wanted everyone to see a genuine first time user respond to the machines :) ...
Thanks so much for your review. I have the 5200 and while I love it, I wish it would fit under the counter and I find it difficult to scrape thick stuff out of the tall container. I saw the 300 and fell in love but thought maybe I better check it out further. Now that I see it's really no quieter than the 5200 and still won't fit under my counter, I think I'll just buy the 32 ounce container!
I have the 5200 bought. Sure, the Pro 300 is certainly a little better, but that is not worth the high price difference. The 5200 in Germany costs € 544 ($ 605) and the Pro 300 costs € 694 ($ 772)! Pro 750 is € 894 (995 USD)
Liz, I think you picked the right one. Specially for the price. Besides both motors have the same power rating. I think is 11.5 amps on both machines. Check the name plate.
The dry blade is not a complete waste if you intend to make flours and grind your own grains. It's a matter of keeping the dry blade dry so you don't have to worry about any of your grains or flours getting wet.
I did end up buying the 32 ounce wet container which sits on the base, on my counter 24-7. I put the big container in a cupboard and take it out for smoothies and large amounts of liquids. The smaller container is "better" than the big one when scraping out contents but still a bit of a hassle. If my VitaMix ever dies, I'm going to shop around for a different high speed blender that's short and wide.
Hello, Liz, thank you for the demonstration video. I am currently waffling between Vitamix's Professional 300 or 7500 (essentially the same) and 5200 models. While Vitamix advertises their 5200 model with a tall 64-oz. wet container and a 32-oz. dry container, for your demonstration you use ice/liquid in the 32-oz. dry container. Is the 32-oz. dry container actually meant for dry OR wet uses...?
I am just starting my research as I want to get one for myself. I am torn between the two models. However, my main function will be making smoothies. I know all blenders are going to make noise, but on noise alone...which one seemed quieter?
Is there a difference in how things are blended between the two? The Pro 300 seems to have a wider bottom while the 5200 has a narrower bottom. I'm wondering if that affects how fast and well ingredients are blended.
I'm in the market for a new blender with the priorities of nut butter making, almond milk and nut flours. Does the Grain /dry attachment fit both machines?
Big thanks to you. Great job. Been wanting to hear a noise comparison. I live in an apartment, and my neighbors don't need to log my blender usage. The new motor might be quieter at low speeds (???), but obviously not at high speed. Sure, the new motor works fast -- after all, the blades are bigger too. But maybe I'll be happiest with the 5200 motor and one of those nice (but expensive, ugh) smaller containers.
I did not ever find a difference in anything I made in the dry container versus the wet personally. I tried all the grains I could think of except wheatberries that I didn't have access to. I found it just as acceptable to use the wet container for anything that would normally consider a dry container product. Mine has been in the cabinet unused in ages.
... I hope this helps someone out there. I can't redo the video, as I no longer have the pro 300. I do love the 5200. Even dh was impressed, and he's a traditional-blender pro.
I agree on the fitting it under the counter idea. When I bought the extra container it is my dry container; which in retrospect is a total and complete waste. It doesn't do anything any better that I have seen thus far. I never use it, sits up in a cabinet. I would have liked to have it fit under the cabinets better.
We have the 5200 12 years old still in like new condition. In your video, the only thing is 1~10 is not yet the highest speed as you mentioned. You were comparing VM pro 300 on the highest and loudest speed to the 5200 on next to the highest speed. just saying :0) If you watch all the costco blender demos much is revealed on how well they made (without a complicated menu) the perfect professional manual bender. Today in 2023 If you're delegating the blender to family, non-experienced people that's where the newbie menus and safety features of the newer vitamix blenders possibly become something to consider in the kitchen. We recently purchased the SS 48oz container and the Steel makes the plastic ones seem quiet. Vitamix are loud we wear some ear muffs when we don't want the noise while blending.
They are the same machine. There are different color choices, and different cookbooks. I chose the 300 in "onyx", because I liked it better than the black that the 7500 offers. I like the cookbook I got, but haven't seen the other one.
For me, knowing that the Vitamix 7500 is the exact same blender as the Pro 300, which I happen to have, vs. my mother's Super 5200 that we bought, like, 10 years ago... That has much to be desired. I mean, I finally noticed that the variable speed on my mother's Vitamix was in working order. For the longest time it would only work on high speed for her. When I was working with hers vs. working with my 7500, the noise levels were fairly identical.
TronOfBorg, I wish I had you in my kitchen when I was testing! :) Regarding the sound, though, it's possible that the kitchen set up and the mike on the camera gave your equipment a less-than-accurate rating. (?) I'm not super technical about this, just going by my ears.
+AweSomo84 Hi, there is an equal comparison further into the video. When I shot this, I was new to Vitamixes, and the comparison you mention was an error on my part. Good catch!
Thanks so much for doing this! I think I would agree with you. BOTH sound like a jet engine (hahaha) but I do believe the red one is nosier. I like the fact you could get both the other containers for the same price as the red one with 1 container. I can't imagine what the "home user" would need with the additional power. Plus, looking at the "grind rate".. it's not THAT much more power. Nice work, and thanks again.
It's not quiet! But it's not horrible either. I have no issues with the noise, but the kids cover their ears. :) I got the smaller wet container for the black vitamix in addition to the standard big one, specifically so it would fit under my counter. The container that comes with the red blender is supposedly sized to fit under the counter, but it was too tall for mine.
Hi V Fran, They make two 32 oz. containers. One for dry, and one that's just like the standard container but smaller. The one in this video is the latter. Thanks for watching!.

Hi Liz, You had the 5200 on low and not on high during your water ice comparison. I think you will hear a definite difference in noise.
So for quick comparison on noise:
G Series Vitamix Pro 530 1:33 | w/ water 3:58
C Series Vitamix 5200 64oz: 2:18 | w/ water 5:33

The pro 300 is exactly the same as the pro 750 but without the 5 preset options
Can you do a smoothy for one person in the 5300?
I love my 5200 and will continue using it. I have not had any problems and the noise really is not that bad. I have a large kitchen and the only thing they could of added was a pulse, But as far as moving up I have no plans to. Love the 5200

10 on the pro 300 is the same as high on the 5200., so this ice cube demo should ideally be redone.
Hi, unpoedic. The 32oz container I used is for wet. I do not have any of the dry containers.
Hi liz, i think you had the 5200 on low, tha's why it sounded lower than the 300

Vitamix Pro 300 you can resharpen the blades like i did buy the tool wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
she said the BLACK one was a "a slightly less irritating sound", but they are both quite noisy. Hope that helps
Hello, Liz, thank you for the demonstration video. I am currently waffling between Vitamix's Professional 300 or 7500 (essentially the same) and 5200 models. thanks!

I want a vitamix but it does not fit under my standard kitchen cabinet. Why they did not think about that.
Ia réne eid nége
Also, I originally thought they meant the container was 40% quieter, but it's the motor that's 40% quieter.
Great video Liz. The company should be paying you!
The mini jug also fits the 300 pro.
I have the Vitamix 5200 and love it. I use it everyday.

you are so right. I made a mistake there! But later in the video, I do get the proper comparison, so you can see it there.
I'm trying to decide between the vitamix pro 300 and vitamix 7500

Hahaha, love it! I actually have a pair for the kids hanging on the kitchen wall. For myself, the sound doesn't really bother me.
Did you actually buy both of these machines to compare?
Why put one on the Slow settings ... not fair comparisson.
+AweSomo84
Hi, there is an equal comparison further into the video. When I shot this, I was new to Vitamixes, and the comparison you mention was an error on my part. Good catch!
Liz Voosen can you do a video with real food like 🍎🍍🥒🥝🍓 please
Ooops you had wrong speed. But the first part of the test was still good.
You sent back the 300?
should use nultra bullet. I take mine with me to work in its own carry on bag
Thanks so much for doing this! I think I would agree with you. BOTH sound like a jet engine (hahaha) but I do believe the red one is nosier. the difference is the outer appearance and settings
Thank you Liz...
Why do you need two??
how loud are they? will it fit under my counter... I don't want a $500 blender if it doesn't fit under my counter.... #firstworldproblems
It's not quiet! But it's not horrible either. Damn the blades are super long on the 300
Vitamix Pro 300 is the winner.
Great share
The 32 oz is the DRY BLADE carafe. Not for wet ingredients.
Hi V Fran,
They make two 32 oz. containers. One for dry, and one that's just like the standard container but smaller. The one in this video is the latter.
Thanks for watching!.
10 on the
