- Hello,
I finally finished my trench coat with time to fully plan some quick pieces I would like to make to complement my Fall wardrobe.
I found a few pieces of fabric bursting with Fall colors, but I know my sewing inspiration does not follow a season, so I am cautious. I am inspired to sew and driven by an idea or a theme, and often it occurs out of season, but I embrace and sew as I am inspired.
Please enjoy my plan to sew a few tops and possibly a skirt😀
Thanks for watching, and happy sewing!

Your clothing rack looks like something that you'd see in a fancy boutique. I'm sure we'd all love to shop your closet! LOL! I love the gleam in your eyes when you show us your stack of fabrics at the end of the video. It's exciting to have all of the beautiful fabrics and great inspiration. I always sing the Sheryl Crow song to myself whenever I am in doubt, "If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad" which always puts a smile on my face. Have fun! It's nice to see this evolution of ideas.
Hello Milly. It always interesting when getting dressed because I get overwhelmed not knowing what to wear.. I began ensuring that pieces I make often mix or coordinate well with existing pieces, which helps to make it easier.
Yes, fabric makes me happy. Thanks for watching 🙂
Karon you are such an inspiration. I love your fabric & pattern pairings
Hi Cherie. I am truly happy that my selection is appreciated. Happy sewing 🙂
Love your fabric and pattern choices! This past summer I wore skirts for the first time in years and found they were nice and cool. It's great that you sew what you want whenever you want. Besides, you can always plan a trip to someplace warm to wear that blue and white stripe. 🙂
I totally agree, Paula. I can find some tropical places to wear that blue outfit.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. You definitely needed those skirts this past summer. Great idea.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Love your ideas Karon and your fabric choices rock. Look forward to seeing how they turn out. You inspire me.
Diane, thanks for watching. I am happy you like the fabric choices. I, too, am excited and hope that I sew what I intended and not switch because some crazy thought distracts me.😀
Hi Karon! I absolutely love all of your fabric, and can’t wait to see your finished garments! You are so right, sew what you love and what inspires you, irregardless of what the season is!❤️
Deidra, absolutely. I go with the inspiration, and sometimes it teaches lessons and perhaps allows me to go in a direction that helps to develop my skill. Thanks for watching 🙂
Lovely fabrics and pattern choices. I'm sure it will all be beautiful when finished! 🤌🏾🤌🏾
I hope so, Sandra😀 Thank you!
Your fabric choices are always so beautiful!!! Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching and sharing your feedback. Very kind.
Love love LOVE your plan for the New Look 6471 blouse. That circle fabric is fabulous!
I love the fabric, too, and I can't wait to get it done. Thanks for watching.
How cool! You have weeks of great videos ahead just on these projects.
Only if you don't mind one unsolicited opinion (ugh). I love wrap skirts but learned this along the way: some wrap skirts are ultra chic and comfortable to wear, but others are frankly challenging. Especially long narrow ones. Unless the fabric (or lining) has enough slip to it, and there's walking ease built in, you may have to walk in short steps and keep pulling the fabric over your knees whenever you sit down or climb stairs. To make sure you like the pattern as drafted it may be worth experimenting with a similarly sized piece of fabric tied around your waist and moving around a bit. A back pleat might help. Or adapting the pattern to a faux tie wrap. Or using the shorter wrap skirt version, which shouldn't restrict at all.
Unsolicited but greatly appreciated! I am happy you shared this feed as it is really helpful since I am inexperienced with making skirts.
I will definitely keep this in mind.
Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback 😀
I had made the 6471 about 5 years ago. It’s a great top and I think it will look awesome in the fabric you have. I don’t wear skirts either.
Lovely, I am sure your top is gorgeous. Aww, finally meet another person who doesn't wear skirts.
I am anxious and excited about that top and will definitely enjoy once completed. Thanks for watching.
I actually picked up that Woven Viscose as well. I think the green and gold could lean Fall or Spring but either way I am planning on making a summer dress with it. I don't really love Fall/Winter sewing as I don't really care to sew with knits. It just seems easier to buy/thrift ready made sweaters and coats instead of making them. So I too plan to continue sewing spring/summer because I love the bright color and the available designs. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome selection, Kristy! I finally found someone who sews their preference whenever. I agree. I don't enjoy sewing with knits, but that might be fun for others, so I respect that.
Thanks for watching, and I am excited to hear how the dress turns out when you are finished.
Nice plans and haul
Thanks for watching Vanessa. I appreciate you😁
Hi Karon ...I really love your style...and for the white dress simplicity 9463 came to my mind.
Janet, I appreciate it! That pattern is perfect as it offers the pockets and front yoke as well. Thank you for helping 😀
Great plans, beautiful fabrics, can’t wait to see how everything turns out. I to sew whatever sparks my fancy and not necessarily in the season.
Thanks, Anita. It's a beautiful feeling to be free to sew based on your inspiration and needs opposed to the season.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Did you look at the Mimi G/Simplicity jumpsuit for the white one you were discussing?
Nope, but thanks for the tip. I will take a look. appreciate it🙂
Hi Karen. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us! I have some video requests: 1. Your sewing machines/sewing room equipment. 2. French seam finishing when working with lace. 3. fabric pattern matching (i.e., matching plaid, stripes, etc.)
Hello Mimi- I have a video on the channel showing my sewing room and equipment. I will add matching stripes to the list, but the only tip I have for matching stripes is cutting one pattern piece at a time, but I will plan a shirt project.
Sure, the next lace top I sew, I will definitely create a video.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Do YOU❣️❣️❣️ No rules with fabric like that…..🔥🔥🔥 you will be as cute in a skirt maam.. a skirt is the bottom part of a dress right😂😂😂 I’m smiling because I already know even if you don’t like it..I WILL🥰
Maxine, you made me laugh 😃
Thank you for the spin on the thought of wearing a skirt. I appreciate your continuous support.
Hi, for your white long blouse or dress inspiration, look at Butterick B5616, view D and add long sleeves. Beautiful fabrics! Can't wait to see the makes. You rock!
Awesome, that vest with top stitching and large pockets should work fine. I have made the jacket and loved it.
Thank you so much for watching and giving your recommendation.
That green and old gold fabric would give me sleepless nights as well!❤❤❤
It's definitely a beautiful one. I hope my idea is as gorgeous in reality as it's in my thoughts.
Well, you definitely have enough to keep you busy for awhile. Great Vision of ideas. Can't wait to see the reveal 🤗
I, too, am excited to seem them come alive. Hopefully, I don't ruin them. Thanks for watching 🙂
The green and gold is beautiful. I love the fabrics.
I agree, it's gorgeous!! Thanks for watching!
Your makes look so professional. Did you ever wear the animal print dress?
Thank you. Yes, I did wear it to work, eventually 😀
Karon let me say this before I even start looking at your video you always have such fabulous ideas
Hello Patricia... you are too kind. I appreciate your kind words and your time. Happy sewing 🙂
I have made the wrap skirt in linen. The pattern does not have facing in the front panel. I will add it next time I make this skirt. The ease of the linen allows the panel to sag a bit. Your fabrics are beautiful!
Hi Pat! Thanks for the useful tip regarding the use of linen to create this skirt. I will make adjustments as I had planned to use linen.
I will try to adjust a few things🙂
Do you know a good pattern for a shirt that contours at the waist?
Hello, I can't think of any.
I love the fabrics, sew whatever you like at the end of the day we need to do what makes us feel our best !
Thank you, Charisse! I thrive and get inspired by fabric and not the season.
Thanks for the pattern inspo!
You are welcome!!
Love all the fabrics! ❤
Thanks so much 😊 I am happy you do, and I appreciate you watching and sharing your feedback. Happy sewing 🙂
You are awesome!!!
Pamela, you are too kind. Thank you so much!!
I'm so glad you are back to sewing, don't overwhelm yourself!! I love your makes and patterns. I love short dresses also, so I watch your channel a lot. Can't wait to see your makes. Keep sewing 🧵
Awww, Cathy, thank you so much. I appreciate your support as we all have our preferences, which adds variety. The beauty of sewing allows you to decide on many aspects of your garment.
Happy sewing 🙂
@@cookeka I meant short dresses, not short
Gosh these looks are lovely !
Thank you. I appreciate you watching.
