It's a beautiful location, and I love the dress and your fabric choice. Jamaica is a lovely country, so have a wonderful time.
@@mknowles2090 I agree. It's a beautiful place. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts.
I love that fabric. Great tutorial. Thank you. I just picked this pattern up. I’m a quilter but new to sewing my own clothes.
Thank you for watching. I am happy you found it helpful. Happy sewing 😀
Beautiful Dress and views. Talk to Islanders about how to repel those mosquitoes. I got a lot of advice that helped. My sweet perfume and lotions were a culprit. Have fun!
That will definitely do it. As of tomorrow, I will soley use sunblock and cortisone 10 for the itching. Thank you for watching and sharing valuable information 😀
What a lovely dress, and I am so glad you were able to go on your holiday.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your kind support. I finally did😀
The dress is beautiful and fit for the garden. Enjoy your vacation.
Hello silent sub here from Jamaica I have been enjoying your videos and style .Enjoy Jamaica.
Hello my fellow islander! You are no longer silent, Claudeen. I am happy you have commented, and it's good to know you are here. Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate you.
Love the make. You’re bad choice is gorgeous. Absolutely love that color looks good on you. Enjoy your vacation!
Thank you Marsha...trying to do so.

@karenchristensen9679 I appreciate it. Thank you!!
Lovely to see you in your sweet outfit! Very tropical! Might want to protect your pretty jewelry from the salty sea air, though. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much. The bracelet came out to play for the sake of the video. I will definitely get more wear once I am home.
Karon, so nice to see you are finally enjoying the vacation you’ve been preparing for. So fun to see your gorgeous makes for this trip! Hope you are able to show us pics of all the beautiful outfits you’ve worn. But most of all RELAX! You’ve earned it. ❤
Hi Donna, I have been busy every day and have not yet relaxed. There is home construction going on as well, so it's a challenge to balance both. Thanks for watching.
@ well girl, you do you and find some time to take it easy! Enjoy the company you are with and those lovely views!
Your dress is beautiful! And, French Man’s Cove looks so relaxing! I’d love to visit there someday. Thanks for sharing.
Pearline, it's quiet and peaceful, but I have a hard time keeping still. I am trying to enjoy the beauty of nature.

What blouse pattern is the black with white print and tie waist? Thanks in advance!
McCalls 81 98 is the pattern that was used to create the black and white blouse. Thank for watching and apology for the delay.
Hi Karon, I’m hoping all is well and that you are enjoying your hiatus. Enjoy the upcoming holidays. ❤ 🙏🏽 🦃🎄
Hi Pearline. I appreciate your kind thoughts and is still on vacation to return soon. Thanks for the lovely wishes.
Hi Karon, great sew along. Could you please direct me to where you saw the sleeve head gathering method. thank you
Hi Frances, I am sorry. I can't remember where I saw the method. I shared it because I thought it was helpful. If I find it, I will advise.
Hope you are doing ok. Can’t wait to see you next make. God bless you.
Hi Maritza... I am well, thank you. I am out of the country on vacation but will be back soon.
You are are soooooooo talented. You intimdate me with such talent 😅.
@@bregal6180 You are very kind. I appreciate your feedback and want to encourage you. Please do not be intimated as I am still learning myself.🙂
Karen. I have really enjoyed your videos especially the Simplicity 1538. I am making 2 shirts and all went fine until I got to the sleeve placket. I am following the pattern but can't make it work. Do you have a video on that subject?😢
@ceblair4974 I am happy it was helpful. No, I don't have a video on the sleeve placket, but I will think about doing one soon. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful garments. Don’t think the blue shirt looks patchwork at all. The patch work motif would have to be repeated elsewhere in the garment for it to read as such, my opinion only!
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your feedback. I appreciate your time.
Love this video. I have started a shirt and this has helped me so much. But did I miss the sleeve placket? This has thrown me.
Hello, thanks for watching. I am happy this was helpful. No, you did not. I did not include the sew along for the house placket on the sleeve.
I'm interested in how you sewed the button band. The directions are a bit confusing. Looks like you simply folded to the inside?
Yes, I simply folded to the inside.
@@cookeka Thank you! Still confused: If you fold twice (as pattern indicates) to inside then the top of the band has a raw edge (instructions indicate turning on fold, sewing across, then bag out and turn again to outside -- a weird finish). How did you finish that raw edge across the top?
@maryh8487 I think it's best I do a short video to show how I finished mine. I will try to do a short video to show you the finish on the last one I did and posted recently.
What does the pattern mean apply ribbon.? What ribbon? Number 39 on instructions
@@crazyleaf257 Hello, I do not have the instructions at this moment. However, I will take a look once I am off work.
@@cookeka thank you!!!!!
@@cookeka also noticed in the instructions there's no step for adding on the front strip on the right side. Only instructions for the one on the left I'm so confused
@crazyleaf257 The pattern did not identify ribbon as needed to sew the shirt. In the sew-along I showed how I made the shirt without using or applying a ribbon.
@crazyleaf257 Instructions for attaching left band is found #39 and #40 for the right band.
Karon, the wool is beautiful and I love that blue lining. That MimiG jacket and the McCall's are both classics. Please wait to sew until you are excited. If not, you may feel frustrated. All your plans are gorgeous. I have M7944 and your inspiration photo is to die for. You always have classic excellent taste.
Your words provide encouragement to be patient and take the time to refresh. The classic styles appeal to me, and I take the advice of many others like yourself who watch and support my work. Thanks Grace!
Absolutely fabulous!!!❤
Thank you!
Nothing wrong with a break, it usually gets me inspired with new ideas. Tidy your sewing room and take a breather. I'll be watching for your sewjo return.
@@deborahtate7763 Definitely taking a breather . Thank you for watching and sharing suggestions. Be back soon.
I have sewing fatigue too. It happens and to get me out of it, I tidy up my room and stash and then pick something super simple to stitch. Typically that would be a simple t-shirt or top. I put everything I need for that project in one place and do not touch or look at anything else until it’s done. Some times a 2 hour project like that will take me a couple of weeks, but it usually gets me back into the flow. I suffer from overthinking and feelings of overwhelm with my sewing plans so, dare I say it…. I often let my stash of patterns and fabrics go. Declutterring that area of my life really helps! If I don’t love it, it goes. To date I haven’t regretted or missed anything. It is our hobby and should be joyful. Hope you feel better about it all soon xx
Hello Ruth. Your perspective on the sewing fatigue is so relatable and fits me perfectly! I am so excited that this has worked for you. I definitely will try cleaning up and try applying your method of focusing on that specific small project. I will refrain from getting into other things, and I hope it helps. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience. I truly value your time.
Those are great projects - your gold button collection? There is no use sewing when you aren't feeling it. You've sewn a lot for your vacation. You might feel more inspired for fall after your vacation.
Kathy, I am okay with your perspective on the situation. I think I will call it the gold button collection. Let's see how things are after I return. I hope to capture lovely content in garments made. Thanks for watching 🙂
Karon, I love the fabrics you've chosen. I hope that you'll look at the fabric buying freeze as an opportunity to revel in what you already have. Because those pieces are really gorgeous. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
@kaygee8343 Hi Kay, I am happy you like them. Yes, I am trying to use the time to refocus and get projects outside of sewing completed, but it's difficult not to purchase fabric or sew. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts 🙂
A break would be good for you - it would revitalise you! Take some walks in the lovely autumn countryside. May I just ask Karon, what is the lovely blouse pattern you are wearing please? XxHelen
Helen, thank you so much for your encouragement. I am wearing a dress from the pattern M8285 with some sleeve adjustments.
You have a deep stash full of lovely, inspiring fabrics and buttons ❤❤. That golden herringbone with the golden lining is going to be a stunning and a beautiful contrast with the darker toned garments you’ve got lined up. Navy jacket, jean jacket, too. They will all serve you well. Sometimes when there are too many choices, indecision can set it, so take it slow and know that you’ll get started when you’re ready. Looking forward to more Karon videos! 😊 Suzanne
Suzanne, just reading your perspective on the golden jacket and the contrast it will bring to my darker garments got me excited. I truly appreciate the feedback and support I am given. It's always interesting as we all perceive this no sew period differently. I am anxious to begin sewing again, and I believe it will be over soon. Thank you for watching.
Hi Karon! That mood happens to us all! Hang in there! I’m also struggling and haven’t sewed for a few weeks. I wasn’t happy with my last 2 makes so that brings me down and I lose confidence in myself. This will pass and I know we’ll both be sewing again soon. Have a nice week!
Lori, I know the feeling and understand the challenges. I am in a hard place and hope to get out soon. It is important to sew as it keeps my mind clear and allows me a healthy space to mentally thrive. I hope we resume sewing soon.
@@cookeka we will get back to you I know we will!!
I made the Vogue dress you made with the loops for buttonholes and you put a piece of patterned brocade for the mid riff. It was challenging and the vlog you did was very helpful.
That is awesome! I am happy it was helpful for you. Enjoy your effort and time warring that dress.
Hi. Im also not buying new fabrics, opting to work through my stash first which is very small. 😊
That is a great idea but challenging at times.
Nice plans. I’m making the Ellis skirt by Cashmerette. This is the first time putting in a front fly. I did it! Also, I have made a Jean jacket. It has many pieces, but it’s not that difficult. I really enjoyed making it. I hope you do too. ❤
That's awesome. I am sure you will enjoy that beautiful jacket made with patience and effort. This will give you the best feeling wearing those pieces. Thanks for sharing 😀
Take a break to come back stronger Dear Karon.😊 love again from Thailand
Thanks Jennifer. A break is on the way.🙂
Hi Karon! I hope the mood improves soon. I really enjoy your channel and seeing how much you enjoy sewing. But we all go through different things and sometimes our interests and our needs change. Give yourself permission to find out what you are being called to at this point. As much as we love sewing, there might be a deeper need, or a deeper calling that sewing cannot fulfill. God bless you and give you peace!
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I understand it happens, and I am trying to occupy my time with other things. Hopefully, a vacation will change this.
@@cookeka enjoy your vacation!
Karon, nice fall sewing plans. I can't wait to see what you do!
Rochelle, thank you for watching. I appreciate it.
@@cookeka my pleasure!
Take a break. Some times we have to do that.
Helen... a break is definitely needed. Thank you.
S8845 Norris does a sew-a-long for that pattern. That helps walk you through.
Yes, that is correct. It was helpful during the making of the previous one I made. Thanks for watching Cynthia.
@cookeka Hi Karon, I always enjoy your projects. I feel you. I'm in a bit of a sewing drought myself. I am on a fabric and pattern band. And want to use what I have on hand as much as possible. But I am seeking help. How do you pre-treat your wool fabric? I was given three pieces of wool fabric, approx 5yds, each piece. They are nice pieces, but they have a slight odor. I want to remove it before working with the fabric. Also, what type of interfacing do you use in your blazers? Thanks for your assistance.
Hello Karon, With some time you’ll get to feeling like sewing again! Maybe just dig into your stash and you’ll get some inspiration to start thinking about sewing again. We all have times when it’s just good to rest and take a break from it all Have a great week, and take care. We know you are such a wonderful sewist, you’re wonderful with your fabric and pattern match ups. Such gorgeous makes you do! Nancy, from northern IN
Nancy, I appreciate your encouraging remarks. Yes, there will be more of these types of days. I'm catching up on some patterns and letting my creative mind relax. Thanks for watching.
