Awesome videos! Very informative. I have a digital camera that scares the crap out of me. I don't use it. Haven't used it in a very long time. Not that it's anything awesome anymore. It's a Lumix G4. Watching you set your camera is showing me how to work this freaking camera! I shot old school my whole life with a Pentax k1000 and got to develop my own images in the dark room. Digital cameras have made me feel very detached from process.

Hi, loved your video, you make it look so easy, pity I don’t have a star tracker yet, maybe one day. I have a question, quality wise, what’s the difference between the canon 75-300 and 75-300 miii, which I have? I’ve taken some nice shots of Orion, but because I don’t have a tracker and didn’t know about dark and lights then they weren’t very long shots.
Someone else may have already commented, but you can usually find a dummy battery with a USB connection. Depending on the power requirements of your camera, you may need a more powerful power bank - PD3 with 15W or better output. My Canon T6 was fine with just a standard power bank, but my Nikon D600 requires a PD3 with 30W (I think) output.
The photo at the end was processed in Pixinsight! 😂 I do want to do more PI videos, but my last one didn't do well at all. I'm thinking about starting a Patreon or TH-cam membership so I can do requests like that for my members.
@@deltaastrophotography I think everyone is slowly migrating to PI. It is different than PS and is designed for astrophotography. I think with your unique teaching skills you can gently move the beginners in your group forward
Loving your videos mate. Just after a bit of advice. I use a canon 500mm f4 for wildlife. I also have the 50mm nifty fifty which I've been advised would be good for landscape style shots, but for things a bit deeper, would a 500mm be any use? Also, as it's a heavy lens (9lb) would it be compatible with a star tracker? Really appreciate any advice. I'm itching to have a blast! 👍
Star Trackers have a weight limit of 11 pounds. At 500mm you will need to add a guide camera and scope. Combine all that with your actual camera and you're going to be over 11 pounds. I would suggest something like a Tamron or Sigma 150-600.
Hey Walt. So FINALLY!! My dark site is aligned with a clear night and a new moon. I dont even know what to do with myself, lol. So a couple of questions. I recently got an SVBony CLS clip-in filter for my camera. I was going to try it out until i realized that only my 50mm lens will attach with the filter in. Any work around for that? Also, the bar you attached your camera to, do you have a link for that?

Any chance you could make a video and show us all the space objects you can shoot with a camera without a startracker? i know you can shoot the moon/milkyway but is there any other object we can shoot without the tracker and while using ''normal'' camera gear ( basicly the camera equipment in your moon/milkyway video) . i know im asking for alot so im very patient to see whats possible in either a video/comment

@@intrance5593 No problem and good luck! If I can give any more advice it would be investing in a decent microphone and good lighting. Most modern smartphones can take take great video but iPhones have the least amount of manual control. An actual camera will get better results, but only a camera made in the past six or so years is going to have decent autofocus.
Have a question I live in bortle 6 what is best to do drop the ISO to get long exposure or shorter exposure and higher ISO, or drop the f stop to get longer exposure or dose not make any difference.
Yeah, bro go ahead and do another processing tutorial for this sequence. Folks shit on that lens so hard and though it's cheap and limited in plenty of ways, it's a beast of a lens for beginners to cut their teeth and learn stuff that they'll have to learn on a much more expensive lens anyway. The summer targets are starting to come out in the early morning hours. You can get the Milky Way core, the Lagoon Nebula, The Veil Nebula, and the North America Nebula around 4:00 in the morning.
Correct. The higher the ISO, the more you are going to start blowing out stars and cores even at short exposures. Lower ISOs will retain a little bit more of the core detail but you have to take longer exposures. It's always a battle.
@@deltaastrophotography what if I take 1-2min subs at ISO 200? Would that keep most of the core from blowing out? I know I would have to take like 300-400 exposures, but once it was stacked, the fainter stuff should show right?
@@kevinashley478 800 should be ok. A lower ISO would give you a better dynamic range but you're just going to start making yourself work way too hard. You've got to make some sacrifices sometimes and just enjoy yourself. Eventually you can get a better camera that has a bigger dynamic range and you won't have to worry too much about that.
@@deltaastrophotography oh ok. I was wondering at what point I would hit diminishing returns. As for a better camera with more dynamic range, what would you suggest? Also, I know a dedicated astronomy camera can obviously fit onto a telescope, but can they also fit onto camera lenses?

I have used gaffer tape to set focus on lenses and it holds well and leaves no residue.

I was using my Samsung Galaxy S21 in Pro Video mode. I had a low ISO and a shutter speed of 1/60. I used two GVM video lights.

It could be light pollution, moonlight, high clouds, humidity, or your camera could just be more sensitive to light.

i have coma on the same lense how come you dont?
Oh I do. It's pretty bad around the edges. But the biggest problem with my kit lens is chromatic aberration throughout the entire image.
that's looks a budget setup till you see the very expensive clip filter you are not going to be able to reuse with other cameras
