Book a plan ticket to a dark spot. It doesnt happy. That's why it's called light pollution unfortunately. Maybe try a light pollution filter. But it depends how bad your area is.
Hi! Thank you for this video but I'm still confused. I'm so new to this I don't fully understand. Do we really need to buy an additional lens kit to get good results? I plan to photograph the night sky with xt3 as well as the northern lights along with us in the subject . Would that work? Also your links are down like the fuji best night lens link.
Kit lens with a kitty!! Watched this video to understand how to shoot some astrophotography on a fuji and kit lens got to see a cute lil cat along the way
Just an FYI, The focus ring on that lens isn't mechanical. If you get your infinity focus during daytime, switch to manual focus, turn the camera off and remove the lens. you can then twist the focus ring all you want it won't effect the focus. When you get to your site, Attach lens, power on and you are ready to shoot. Your tape may only confuse you if you depend on it and the ring gets moved while in your bag. you would need to realign before powering the camera back on, or you will move your focus. The tape trick works wonderfully on lenses with mechanical focus rings (meaning they change the lens focus with or without power).

We have the same kit so I'll give it a shot tonight. Couple questions: Are you using back button and focusing peaking to nail focus? Do you use the same shutter speed when you stand in the composition? Thanks!
No problem I was about to say its a super moon this weekend. Youll have to wait 7 to 10 days for less moon. I manually focus its best to do this during the day before you head out. Secondly I did use the same Shutter speed when I stood in the image :D

Hi Matt, great video! I new to Fuji system and just got my XT-3. Plan to shot a Milky Way on Laowa 9mm. May I know how to set the camera to shot at 10s, 15,s 30s without a shutter release? I tried to set my camera at ISO6400, SS 500 & F2.8 and use the Fuji App, the remote just won't hold. Wonder what I need to do in the camera menu instead. Thanks.
You will need to find the timer on the camera set that to a 2 second delay or 10 second delay. Thrn on the top dial set the mode to 'T' and adjust the shutter speed to around 25 seconds for the Laowa
Will you be heading out to learn how to capture the Milky Way? If you need help please don't hesitate to contact me! :D

Hello, Mat. Have you tried the Sony a6400 and Fujifilm X-T30? I am wondering, between those two, which one is best for astrophotography and low light photography?
I have never tried the Sony A6400. But they would be similar. I can recommend the Samyang 12mm F/2 for both cameras if you go that way
Thank you so much for that video! Noticed it accidentally in the feed and now subscribed and watching other videos :) I am really new to cameras and stuff, I am basically at the start of my journey, and seeing that you can get that even with a kit is so encouraging!
I have Canon 80D with 18-55mm kit lens, so I definitely want to give it a try now! Just need to understand where and when I need to be to see something like that :) still struggling with understanding that :)
Thank you so much, fantastic video!
Thats awesome really glad you found the channel and hope it can help!! I have a series coming up explaining all this so hopefully it will help you out tremendously. If you need help with certaim things please dont be afraid to ask :)
Thanks 💐💐
I have 2 different Nikon cameras D60 and a much newer D5600 the kit lenses are both 18mm - 55mm .. Which do you think will give me the better star pictures ?
I have no idea sorry I have never used Nikon gear
Bruv. We are waiting for that 12 part series.
Will be released soon, Covid stuffed this up completely
Matthew Storer it’s all
Good bruv, we’re excited for it!
Key I’m shooting on a Pentax K1000 with a f2 50mm lens, suggestions on exposure time? Will be no moon and open sky’s on Milky Way. Thanks
Thanks buddy - appreciate it!
Cracking video Matthew, deffo share your love of the night sky my next video is my first milky way shoot this season, can't wait to get out for more. Do you use the cameras in build noise reduction I've used it and apart from the extended time it seems ok.
Thanks buddy - appreciate it! Nah I dont - will only affect JPEG images anyways
Apart from the preparation (focusing etc.). You can only do this by trial and error like you've done 👍
Yep, all about getting to know your camera in multiple situations. Totally agree!
We have the same kit so I'll give it a shot tonight. Couple questions: Are you using back button and focusing peaking to nail focus? Do you use the same shutter speed when you stand in the composition? Thanks!
Scratch that, it's nearly a full moon tonight. Although, I did pick up that Photopills app and it's very cool! Great suggestion.
No problem I was about to say its a super moon this weekend. Youll have to wait 7 to 10 days for less moon. I manually focus its best to do this during the day before you head out. Secondly I did use the same Shutter speed when I stood in the image :D
Hi, I have a fuji XT3
your video helped me a lot but there is still something missing...
IDK how to set the settings on my camera for star shooting, like how to set it to shoot every 3 seconds
Thanks buddy - appreciate it! Yeah I would just do interval timer
Sir, i wanna asking about the focus infinity with my cheap fujifilm xa10 with kit lens. so, with kit lens we must figure out manually for focus infinity?, and add mark on it after we find it?, thanks sir, please reply my question😙
Yes, definitely you'll need to find focus each time becuase of the type of focus in that lens.
@@matthewstorerphotography Thank you sir, i will try it again tonight. one attempt last night and i still confused about infinity focus on my lens😅 thabks for your help, sir🙏🥰
No problem mate. Goodluck :D
@@matthewstorerphotography 🥰👍
Waiting for my xt4 to arrive today. Photopills app closest option appears to be xt3. As there is no option for xt4 should I click xt3. ? At the moment I can only use xf 18-135mm F3.5-5.6. I guess I will go for 18mm @ F3.5. I haven't done astrophotography before so it will be interesting to see how I get here in London 🙂
Thanks buddy - appreciate it!
great video, keep it up bro :)
Appreciate it
i have Nikon Z fc with 28mm f2.8 SE what would be the best time at 2.8f?
Hi Matt, great video! I new to Fuji system and just got my XT-3. Plan to shot a Milky Way on Laowa 9mm. May I know how to set the camera to shot at 10s, 15,s 30s without a shutter release? I tried to set my camera at ISO6400, SS 500 & F2.8 and use the Fuji App, the remote just won't hold. Wonder what I need to do in the camera menu instead. Thanks.
You will need to find the timer on the camera set that to a 2 second delay or 10 second delay. Thrn on the top dial set the mode to 'T' and adjust the shutter speed to around 25 seconds for the Laowa
how to shot a star moving video and photos with xt-4 18-55 kit lens? Thanks for helping!
Same as the video. Aperture F2.8, ISO 6400 and Shutter Speed about 20 Seconds
Awesome, thanks!
No problem :)
