      If you’re doing 24V, I recommend installing the Brake Reduction Module to help spare the gears and make them last a little longer. I do recommend installing the BRM with 18V as well.

Even her stock 12v sudden braking is pretty aggressive, and I'm about to add an 18v Ryobi 4amp with a speed controller. The higher past 12V you go, the sooner it breaks. But I’ve seen people run 54v in them, but longevity is not their strong suit at that voltage. Probably won’t last that long without significant upgrades to wiring, motors/gears/batteries/etc.

    Hi,
    I bought a new J4394-9319 Replacement Shifter Assembly for Jeep Hurricane. When I press the pedal the gear boxes only work in the forward position on high speed. Forward low speed and reverse do not work. Any idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks!

    • @WheelieMan
      @WheelieMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your Power Wheels won’t reverse, this could be due to a specific wire breaking off. It could also be because one of the wires has become disconnected. If you want to do a DIY fix yourself, you can open up the toy and check/clean the wires. It could also be a faulty shifter as well. Good luck. :)

    • @matthewrola8751
      @matthewrola8751 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I picked the toy up from the street. Someone was throwing it out. Currently trying to do a DIY rebuild off the mod you did in this video. I have the toy upside down with all wires exposed, rear wheels removed, gear box/pinions exposed. The shifter and Milwaukee adapter came in today. I hooked up the adapter with M18 battery to the black and white leads and changed the shifter. When I press the pedal only forward high gear works. All wires and connections look to be in tact. Also, the radio wire was connected to the old shifter. The new shifter doesn’t have a connection point for the radio wire. Idk what that’s about. Could it be the pedal that needs replacing as well?

High gear gives power to both motors, low gear gives power to driver's side motor only, and reverse gives reverse polarity to driver's side only@@WheelieMan

      Battery/electronics could be overheating, shutting off to prevent critical damage. Then when it cools off, it’s able to run again. Or could be a loose wire somewhere in the vehicle that is coming loose temporarily.

      @@WheelieMan Thanks again for the helpful video and response. I had one last question...I did the conversion and used the same low voltage cutoff you used. Everything was working great. I left the battery in the Power Wheels overnight thinking the low voltage cutoff would prevent over discharge and would cut the power when it needed to (I set it at 16.5v). I was wrong! The battery is completely shot and won't charge...do you remove the battery after each use? Have you had this issue?

    • @WheelieMan
      @WheelieMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael. Yes, I do remove the battery after each use. I believe I have my cutoff set to 16.5 volts too. This info below is direct from the Amazon product listing for the cutoff:
      ---------------------------Most people are confused about this question,Please read as follow message carefully---------------------------
      IMPORTANT TIPS
      This product works great to cut off the voltage when a battery discharges to a set level. It stops the output/load but you can NOT leave a battery hooked up to this product. This voltage cutoff (this product) stays on and will continue to drain the battery as this product (understandably) needs electricity to operate. True, this product will drain the battery much more slowly than your load was probably draining the battery, but make no mistake, this product consumes electricity after disconnecting the load and gets that electricity from your battery, eventually draining it.

    • @WheelieMan
      @WheelieMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you still have a warranty on the battery, I would make a warranty claim to get it replaced if it’s no longer charging.

    • @WheelieMan
      @WheelieMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kyron.
      It is 2 wheel drive, with a motor/gearbox in each of the rear wheels.
      Have you removed the screw in the gear selector switch to unlock speed 2/the high speed?
      Speed 1 (LO) only drives one wheel/motor primarily and sends very little power to the second wheel/motor and speed 2 (HI) drives both wheels.
      Could also possibly be a loose connection or a pinched wire or a failed motor or stripped gear in the wheel that is not turning.
      I’d start with looking at those first and see if something jumps out.
      Merry Christmas 🎄!

    • @WheelieMan
      @WheelieMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว
