Wow she was still gorgeous at age 65.In her prime she must have been just absolutely gorgeous. They say Elizabeth Taylor was considered the most beautiful women Well lena horne is just stunningly gorgeous
Ok. I think I want to chime in on this one. As a HUGE Judy fan and a HUGE Lena fan, I really think Lena does this better--it's simply her signature song. But all the greats have their signature song. NO ONE does "The Man That Got Away" better than Judy--that's her signature song and she does that one the best. Bottom line is: these women are two of a kind and we all love them both!
Cason and Horne had a great rapport. It’s evident in the interview. His admiration for her as a person and entertainer comes across as genuine and heartfelt.
Lena sang standards, but put a jazz flare w/it. She was amazingly talented that she could sing any style of music - jazz, blues, standards, soul or gospel. R.I.P.
Great story telling we'll miss her very much part of that group of old when stars were stars and Fred G Sanford. put it a Man and his Horne, or a Woman she was one of the greats of which we have very few left 2day. RIP MS HORNE
Hi Guys! I've read most of the commentary and I plan on signing up with the FIRST internet fan club i can .The year was 1998 and I was at some bodies 99 cent store and low and behold I found this 'cassette' of Lena Horne music . It fell apart 21 days later from My playing it 24/7. WHHYYY my local jazz station never played it I'll never comprehend. Yet the one woman Broadway show certainly proved she was indeed a JAZZ SINGER!
When one thinks of the song Stormy Weather, one thinks of Lena Horne...It's hers!...She owns it! Judy Garland couldn't carry that song across your room!
@lenahorneclub If someone says to you, "I just love that song Stormy Weather." I seriously doubt that they're speaking of the version by Ethel Waters or Frank Sinatra... Whether Lena likes the song or not, it is her signature song...And that was my whole point in the original comment. Judy Garland was a wonderful performer, but when it comes to Stormy Weather- she should really get out of the rain...and look for the rainbow
@eric9590 Yes, but you and EVERYONE must know what was not covered in the obits -- after movies, Lena became one of the top nighclub headliners in the world. She was up there with Sinatra, Elvis, Dean Martin -- there was nobody bigger for THREE DECADES. This was the peak of her career why wasn't it covered by the news? They don't like it that she was sooo successful and want her to always be the victim of? That does her a disservice.
@lenahorneclub lol i was looking that up i don't think Ethel and her were arch enemy's as it was just Ethel being a bit envious of a younger more attractive actress taking her spotlight but Ethel was amazing and i think we all would be a bit mad if some1 cast a shadow over us
It seems like a lot of people confuse "jazz singers" with "singers of standards." I've noticed that Lena is often grouped together with other pop singers like Tony Bennett and Rosemary Clooney and they're all branded as "jazz" singers. I wonder what causes this confusion?
@lenahorneclub well i dont know only the two ppl involved know for sure i cannot really discuss whats in some1 elses head but i was just simply giving my opinion
@lenahorneclub But she was definitely influenced by jazz tho. And her 90s albums for Blue Note were probably the closest she ever came to being a jazz singer.
@leplaq Ethel didn't get along with many people within her own age or younger then her. She was the first diva back then and the first famous bitch in show business. Ethel was great but she was something else. She insulted Billie Holiday and Valaida Snow too.
Stormy weather belongs to LENA! Certain songs just belong to certain artist, Patti Labelle could sing circles around Judy Garland but Someday over the rainbow belongs to JUDY!
She lived longer than all of her peers! Such a true lady and a true legend!
What a national treasure! I have loved Ms. Lena Horne all my life! Lord, we sincerely thank you for blessing us with her. May she rest in peace...
That voice just made me smile
Class grace and distinction. 😍
How Much class can one person have!
RIP MISS LENA! I'm only 20 years old and I've heard of her before. My generations musicality is wack!
I love her personality in these interviews.
Wow she was still gorgeous at age 65.In her prime she must have been just absolutely gorgeous. They say Elizabeth Taylor was considered the most beautiful women Well lena horne is just stunningly gorgeous
In the early 80's, she was on Vogue's list of the ten most beautiful women in the world, well into her 60's. 😎
Ok. I think I want to chime in on this one. As a HUGE Judy fan and a HUGE Lena fan, I really think Lena does this better--it's simply her signature song. But all the greats have their signature song. just sublime. she kills everytime!
Lena was everything. Extraordinary in every way.
Cason and Horne had a great rapport. It’s evident in the interview. His admiration for her as a person and entertainer comes across as genuine and heartfelt.

Stormy Weather ,The Way We Are ,The Man That Got Away ,Over The Rainbow . are my favorites .
LENA HORNE IS A TRUE LEGEND HOW CAN YOU COMPARE PRIME RIBS TO HAMBURGER..CLASS ACT & REAL TALENT....
Lena sang standards, but put a jazz flare w/it. She was amazingly talented that she could sing any style of music - jazz, blues, standards, soul or gospel. R.I.P.
What a wonderful woman! Even her saying to Johnny, "I don't want to hear that... it could have been me."
Greatness lives on and on!!
A performance without flaw
Even In Her " Golden Years " Miss Horn Still Maintained An EXTRAORDINARY Voice !!!......
Horne
Great story telling we'll miss her very much part of that group of old when stars were stars and Fred G Sanford. put it a Man and his Horne, or a Woman she was one of the greats of which we have very few left 2day. RIP MS HORNE
Such an incredible woman in so many ways!
It's not the voice, it's her interpretation of the song. Her man is gone, she's feeling it....this is her expression in lyrical format
Lena, simply wonderful!
One of the greats.
talent, oh my god, absolutely gorgeous too, and yea female, thank you darling for all the songs

Her Voice is UNBELIEVABLE and she's 65!!!!! A Gift from God
No need to knock Judy down to build Lena up. They are both in that very small group that deserve to be called The Greatest Entertainers of All Time.
Gorgeous elegant woman. With wit.
1982 was the year that i came in to the world may 20 1982 and she was 62 year old when she was on this show i just love it ms horn we will miss you
myra mcclain to be exact she was 65 because you know 1982-1917=65

she's not one of my favorites however it's obvious that this woman has a great gift for singing. i'd be a fool not to recognize that.
You have some class.
Bravo
Hotel Theresa, across street from Apollo Theater.125st. Harlem.
Elegance embodied.
You obviously haven't heard the live broadway version.
@eric9590 Yes, but you and EVERYONE must know what was not covered in the obits -- after movies, Lena became one of the top nighclub headliners in the world. @butterlop 100% correct. Lena never sang jazz, she was a pop singer for the most part.
There is a podcast called You Must Remember this. It is all about Hollywood. One of podcasts is about Lena. It was very good.
💜
@lenahorneclub lol i was looking that up i don't think Ethel and her were arch enemy's as it was just Ethel being a bit envious of a younger more attractive actress taking her spotlight but Ethel was amazing and i think we all would be a bit mad if some1 cast a shadow over us
Class and sultry elegance
What a sweet lady ....and gorgeous !
WOW ,!!!!!,,,,,,, SUPREME!!!!!,,,,,,,, CLASS PERSONIFIED ❤
Lena Horne lookslike my mom
We share the same birthday! Kindred Spirits
It seems like a lot of people confuse "jazz singers" with "singers of standards." I've noticed that Lena is often grouped together with other pop singers like Tony Bennett and Rosemary Clooney and they're all branded as "jazz" singers. I wonder what causes this confusion?
My mom who's part Venezulan lookslike Lena Horne not sure if that would interest anyone
Lena saying she wasn't sexy enough. Then I dont want to know what sexy is
@44joints Thank u
@ChuckMonsey
LOL, Bravo! I totally agree!
@ChuckMonsey Yes, one thinks of Lena, but it was Ethel Waters song
😍😍😍😍😍
UMMMM Yes she could and UMMM yes she did!!! I do love lena too i must say but let's give judy her props
Unequalled
@88Habitrabbit1 NO< Lena was a pop singer, not a jazz singer. I'll bet she was very pissed when they wrote she was a *jazz singer.*
@lenahorneclub I'm aware of that, but Lena made the song her own- just my opinion. I hope I'm not offending anyone.
@lenahorneclub well i dont know only the two ppl involved know for sure i cannot really discuss whats in some1 elses head but i was just simply giving my opinion
@myralove83 Actually she was 65 here.
@leplaq Your comments indicate you have A LOT of reading to do. You have an obvious point but it's true that they also hated each other1
@carmenjones411 Ethel Waters -- Lena's arch enemy aside from Sinatra -- introduced "Stormy Weather' -- Lena does not like the song 1 sec ago
@lenahorneclub But she was definitely influenced by jazz tho. And her 90s albums for Blue Note were probably the closest she ever came to being a jazz singer.
That's news to me. Gospel? LOL.
@leplaq Ethel didn't get along with many people within her own age or younger then her. She was the first diva back then and the first famous bitch in show business. Ethel was great but she was something else. She insulted Billie Holiday and Valaida Snow too.
Yeah - they're ignorant
Stormy weather belongs to LENA! Certain songs just belong to certain artist, Patti Labelle could sing circles around Judy Garland but Someday over the rainbow belongs to JUDY!
Please for your own health go and check your hearing...
Lena was great, but sounding a little wobbly here...
she tried...its so great when she had her voice....sucks
