I was fortunate enough to see the Dregs several times back in the late 70s/early 80s era and have been a Steve Morse fan ever since. Watch Steve Morseband - Live 1990; Full Concert to see Steve in his prime. Steve developed a degenerative wrist injury, which comes from 50 years of constant shredding and you would never know that he was playing in pain during this time. It's a breath of fresh air when these top guitarists continue to site each other as influences. That's what makes a G3 tour special.
Only 3 guitarists have won the Best Overall Guitarist award 5 years in a row, retiring them from the competition and putting them in the Gallery of Greats. They are Steve Howe of YES, Steve Morse and Eric Johnson.
Ok now, this is so incredibly beyond the rest of us. Otherworldly guitar, this man's peers would quickly pale in a jam-o-thon. Steve Morse, what planet exactly are you from? You have my reverence.
joeyRapps, it is actually refreshing to see u hash it out with someone about such matters :). it is predicated on the fact you respect both, and know enough to try and be diplomatic. personally, i much prefer Satriani because i love the soulful feel of his melodies, and his legato arpeggio rolls are exactly what i want to do when i play/just an amateur. anyway, Joe Satriani AND Steve Morse tomorrow night in Durham, NC! two greats -t zgonna be a great night! AUW-HHAU-WH!!!
Hoping i live long enough to see Steve and Jeff share a stage together. Fusion and stuff... whatever. So so so glad he gave up flying for a music career. There's lots of mediocre pilots, but God gave us only one Steve Morse, musician.
Mui MasMacho. Yes..Steve and Jeff. Master interpreters of feel and tone, time and taste. That would be a show. Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's Lounge is unbelievable.
I was at that concert and I was caught completely off guard when Steve Morse came out. I agree the sound man totally screwed up on the sound. The song he played on the nylon string guitar was great.
I saw him blow Rush off their own stage at the cow palace in 1986. He could have played all night. His solo broke into "Dazed and Confused". After that, nobody cared much if Rush even showed up that night
maybe you need to check guitar players best over all guitarist consecutive wins...Steve Morse hands down!! and a five time Grammy winner so what does take to get on your shallow top 10 list?!!
I pull this up.......8....count 'em......8 videos..........copyright infringement can shine my shoes...........and other things I'd get in trouble for typing here.
old guys are the reason young guys can do what they do now,we figured it all out so you young'ins can just find a way to play faster or with more distortion
I went to see Satriani last night in Midland, TX. Not a word that Steve Morse was opening! So I walk in and am immediately floored! I have not seem Morse in 18 years and Satriani in maybe 20. Both are really good at what they do but I must say, I enjoy listening to Morse more than Satriani. That maybe material or style. So the price of admission was covered by seeing Morse! Except that the sound men really screwed up Morse's show (hard to hear his guitar) while Satriani's was clear. Why?
Ok, we need to discuss this Morse opening for Satriani shit. I really don't want to pay $100 at The Beacon to see The Master for only 40 minutes or so and then definitely leave during Satriani's set bc I know I'll become BORED. I'm gonna wait until Deep Purple is done touring Flurgen Fleugen, Europe. How does Satriani go on after Morse? I call BULLSHIT!!
There u go again with the playground behavior. Haha, right, Satch is a "showman". A regular Freddie Mercury lol. Enjoy Summer Song played in different keys and maybe the security at the door will let u bring a pillow. Those venue chairs aren't really made for sleeping.
ok, son. you wanna play? Satch is a great player BUT when it comes to not just knowledge of other styles but, MASTERY of them, Satch isn't on Morse's level. Satch is primarily a rock player, nothing wrong with that. Morse is proficient in rock, country/bluegrass, fusion, & classical. I would prefer lessons from Morse than Satch bc I WOULD LEARN MORE. Why are you calling names? Morse is a half wit?? Satch is a rocket surgeon now? Why do u write in a British accent? Stay in ur playground boy
looks like u lost the accent. another brave keyboard commando who starts name calling then tries to change the subject. My point is a comparison btwn Satch & Morse. Why r u comparing SM to every guitarist in the world? Have you already surveyed "anyone" for their lists? Check the dictionary for "proficient", smh. Started playing at college age, great, not impressed dude. Bottom line: If u think Satch is on Morse's level, ur cracked.
Even at his fastest, you can hear every note clearly,,,a master of Technique,Tone,Phrasing, and feel !!!
And don't forget he can play with this skill and naturality electric, folk, classic, 12 and mandolin!!!
All True
Oh my god! More than 30 years listening and I still love this song like the first time!!!

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic! The power of technique and the magic of sound fused in an extraordinary personality ⭐
The most distinctive and unique shredder out there...you always know Steve's playing as soon as you hear it, it's so different than any other!!!
best guitarist in the world...awesome
He will never equal Ritchie Blackmore, never!!! He lacks the subtlety.
@@josbehaeghel5808 🤣
'84's studio solo blow my head off, even today..thnx Steve!!
Most underrated guitarist ever.
just an amazing artist, love his stuff. and with DP
I like Steve Morse play guitar , he is great musician 👍

again steve shows his master-technique on his guitar
a true guitar god
Really GUITAR MAESTRO!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (61th) STEVE!!!
In the groove big time. Enjoy the brilliance while it lasts!!
this sounds truly amazing! like, the fidelity of your phone is insane
The three greatest out there now...all they need is for Jimmy Page to walk out on stage. I love watching Steve Morse play guitar...amazing.
Very well played
I love Joe Satriani AND I love Steve Morse. Comparing musicians is a fools game. They both have interesting and cool music to share with the world.
I put in my little unlimited recording plugs and let them both rip my brain out...........aaaaaaaaahh
Maybe I’m picky but I think The Introduction was the best Steve Morse album. Can’t say enough about Rod Morgenstein as his best former drummer.
It's good but Southern Steel is 'better' in my opinion!
I have his first 3 albums on vinyl, and yes Introduction stands out.
Ok now, this is so incredibly beyond the rest of us. Otherworldly guitar, this man's peers would quickly pale in a jam-o-thon. Steve Morse, what planet exactly are you from? You have my reverence.
The master!!!
Mind boggling!
Happy 60th birthday Steve Morse!!! (Born July 28, 1954)

With all respect to Dave LaRue, he is a great bass player.. but I still prefer the old live version with Jerry Peek on the bass
Don't know, I always loved Rod Morgenstein w/ Steve.
I think this is the piece from Ski Patrol movie

Is Thomas Lang at Drums?

who is on drums on this?
appears to be Dru Betts of the Dave LaRue Band: th-cam.com/video/ta4BzDM80nU/w-d-xo.html
Unless you're a co-headliner the opener never gets the full sound.
Who's the drummer ??
i've been trying to figure that out too! It's neither Van nor Rod.
@@IansUToob57 he's great
hey Gerard, I did some digging within my Morse hive mind, and they came up with Dru Betts as the drummer. I'm off to look for clips. :)
Dru is in Dave's band: th-cam.com/video/ta4BzDM80nU/w-d-xo.html
@@IansUToob57 It's Dru Betts. Orlando-area guy who was the Dave LaRue Band drummer before filling in for Van.

Who's on the drums?
It's Dru Betts! Only just now saw your question. It would not have taken me 9 years to figure it out.

I thought it was cool that Blackmore, a renowned jerk, had nothing but great things to say about Morse

Wow
who's the drummer?
Van Romaine , who is the drummer for Enrique Iglesias , believe it or not !
