I use several Lee filters, including polarising and different ND (incl. all 3 "Stoppers") and grad ND filters, and I think they are an essential part of the kit for a landscape photographer. But I would not get these coloured filters though, since changing these things are easily done in post. The same goes to the mist filters. Though they in theory are kinda cool, in reality they do not look natural and this effect is also better done in post.

I love Lee Filters I have 6 grads and 2 stoppers plus a polariser but i am not sure if i am feeling these type of filters. Especially the mist filters which don't look right at all

Not just photographers use these filters but also some cinematographers. The film Mandy was shot using these filters too - I need some!!

0:44 - did you really expect to see nice sunSET colours on that lovely misty morning? 😉

@Rocky Jaziel , @Misael Jaylen - I don't know why you've replied to my comment. As far as I can see, your plugging of flixzone has no relevance to Marks's very informative video here, and you've missed my subtle point completely! 😔

I've always like using grads and ND grads, but shied away from effects filters which introduce something that isn't there. Having watched this video I have to say I loved the effect of the orange filter at Durdle Door on the clouds. They look like Monet's Seine at Argenteuil. They won't necessary be next on my Lee shopping list, but they will be on there. :)

This could be a silly question, but I would like to know what's the difference between using these nice filters on the scene and changing the colour temperature in post production.

Actually I recently tried the sunset filters with good results, specially with a flat sky. Changing the AWB in photoshop didn't give me the same effect..

can you guys please explain why would someone limit themselves to this versus photoshop?
don't get me wrong, i love your big stopper and HD filters in general, but why would one do this with an expensive, in the way filter with limited control on the areas affected and the degree affected? thank you

Honest opinion... mist does not look normal at all. Nice filters but mist doesn't look that natural.

I can see why these may have been useful years ago but nothing that can't be done in post easily now.

No way I would ever use any of those. All of those effects can be easily done in post and would look better for a heck of a lot less money.

U can never in this lifetime get what a polarizer filter does to your image in post .

Sorry, but the mist strips images are not natural looking at all..

Honestly, Lee is great but lost me with the coral filter. Kind of like wine perhaps, but the mist filters are just cheating.

You do realise that years but they use to use Vaseline in filters to get the same effect? Same can be said about post.

Not impressed, some look unnatural that he thinks looks good.

  • @milanmedek3555
    @milanmedek3555 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I didn't know they make filters like this but to me it's kind of cheating. It's interesting to see the results with them but if the light or mist are not there, they are just not there, so you have to come again.

I dont like the colored filters. No way. It dont looks natural and destroy the file.
