    Ashley, back in the Lakes again👍 Beautiful weather for the climb of Scafell Pike☀ Lovely walking along the river looking back down to the lake and that is some path. You got it just perfect with the cloud and mist for a fantastic summit👍 A really clear day with some outstanding views. The lake looked mirror flat on your steep descent. Great for you both to get this big tick in such great weather👍

      Thanks Gerry, we got a cracking day to do this one. It was our first day back so we just went for it. Navigating was easy as we went up the main tourist route but we were so glad we cut across to Lingmell for the descent as we got such good views on the way down. We got in 5 big walks on this trip so there'll be a few more videos to come. Where are you off to next? Regards, Ashley

    Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing. I will do the same route when I make it there in the Spring hopefully. Looking forward to your Great Gable video 😬

      Thanks for watching Nicola. We did Kirk Fell and Great Gable together and it was much tougher than this one, but very glad to have done both. Regards, Ashley

    I watched every second of this with a smile on my face, because it brought back so many great memories of when we were up there. It is and always will be the one we will remember with such pride. Glad you got the weather for it and the cloud sitting in the valley was stunning. Sorry I haven’t commented til now, I’ve been seriously poorly, to the point I was almost hospitalised, but thankfully on the mend now. Love to Andrea.

      Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it - we got a great weather day and we got more days like this too so there will be a few more videos to follow. Sorry to hear about your health and glad that you are on the mend. I know from your videos you always very open and honest about mental health and I think you are very brave to talk about it. As I've got older, I struggle to adapt to what I can no longer do physically, but hiking is a great leveller, all can do it, and the sense of achievement after a classic hike is immense. That's why I was so full of admiration for your kids and wife when they dId Bowfell, and Crinkle Crags, as they are tough. Andrea is far from being a fitness fanatic, and hiking is so far out of her comfort zone, but she excels on the tough hikes and I'm often more pleased for her than myself. So stay strong and hopefully you'll be back out filming again soon. Regards, Ashley

      @@ashleyjarnold thank you so much for your words of wisdom, encouragement & understanding. I can relate to your comments on physical ability because I too have limitations which I don’t speak about on our videos & the reasons for my mental health issues, however both are related. My Army career ended due to an injury back in 2002 & I have never fully recovered from it, both physically & psychologically, I lost my identity that day & still struggle with who I am even now. The fells & mountains allow me to fill that void for a short while & it does wonders for me. The girls are so supportive & understanding & are always there for me, as I am for them. Each of us have our own reasons for hiking, for example: Erica is on the autism spectrum & loves the outdoors & the challenges they offer, her confidence has grown expediently this year & it reflects in her school life. Thank you for your never wavering support my friend.

    Darren is hopefully climbing Scarfel Pike this year with a friend, Toni looking for something less challenging in the area with his wife. So any recommendations welcome for that. Beautiful views ,s so pleased the clouds cleared for you. Well done ❤❤❤

      Scafell Pike is one you kind of have to do, but we loved Great Gable far more near it. There are many lesser challenges, depends were you are staying. If near Ambleside I'd say Helm Crag, or Raven Crag. If near Keswick, then Dodd or even Castle Crag, or Latrigg. Near Ullswater there is Glenridding Dodd or even Gowbarrow Fell.

    Superb Ashley! Really enjoyed your Scafell Pike adventure. You had some cracking views throughout the walk. Watched it with Carol and it brought back memories for both of us. It is a really good route. The views from Lingmell are as good as Scafell Pike. Great stuff. Cheers. Eddie.

      It definitely was an adventure, Eddie! We stuck mostly to your route and I do think doing Lingmell too is the best option. The views coming down were epic even before it got really steep. Hope you will be back out recording soon? Regards, Ashley

    Looked a great day out for it Ashley. Nice one getting those cloud inversions. Not done Lingmell yet but done Scafell Pike via the corridor route. Super views over a calm Wast Water. Enjoyed watching 👍 Paul

      Thanks Paul. We got a good view of the corridor route when we came down from Great Gable in our next walk so it's one for the future. Thankfully, the clouds did clear for us mostly and we got great views are round. Great to have finally done Scafell Pike. Regards, Ashley

    Prefer the Mickledore route, more fun and you leave everyone else behind, as it is so quiet but the main objective ticked off, a first ever Scafell Pike summit and in perfect conditions as well. Shame about the 'sentimental value' bit of kit loss on the way to Lingmell, why didn't I bag Lingmell when I was up there last 😫. Not keen on the decent from Lingmell summit but would not fancy the assent either, there must be an easier way, need to check that out. Great walk and wonderful views all around, massive tick indeed, cheers Alan

      If we ever do it again Alan we will have to take the Mickledore route. Lingmell was really step at the end but you've done a lot worse than that so well within your scope. Andrea dropped a scarf somewhere between the descent on Scafell Pike and the ascent to Lingmell. I ran back down a bit but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. This was the first hike of the trip so it's Great Gable next! I've seen all the footage and it's good and scary - will try and have it ready for next weekend. Trust all good with you and the family and looking forward to your next adventure. Regards, Ashley and Andrea.

    I'd love to do this but I don't think I'd make it.

    • @ashleyjarnold
      @ashleyjarnold  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I don't think it's as hard as some others so if you just do the up and down to Scafell with all the crowds you might surprise yourself!! Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley
