Can I scalp my Emerald green zoysia this low here in Georgia? Do you have any large patch fungus in HI.? Great job guys, show it when it greens up, thanks David K
Yeah if you have zoysia you should definitely do this once a year to maintain it properly. We do get large fungus patches especially in the winter time but we treat it with our spray team using a liquid fungicide. Also David I just posted a video last week of the recovery check it out! @@EXTREMEGARDENS_ Thanks, keep up the good work, I no longer have my JD Tri plex or greensmower, I only have my old Locke reel which only goes down to 1/2" on the HOC, I haven't verticut my yard, 1ac in several years, just been keeping it cut at 1/2" this year and is recovering from a hard scalp, I screwed up and used a growth regulator on it which kept it from recovering quickly, live and learn
Can you do this to Bermuda grass? Don’t these two types of turf have similar traits? Do you have Bermuda grass down in South Florida? Have you done this method to Bermuda grass?
@@EXTREMEGARDENS_ it seems that everyone who verticuts Bermuda grass has a normal cutting height of 3/4”. Do you how well Bermuda grass that’s cut at a height of 2” to 2-1/4” (common Bermuda grass) handle verticutting? I’m afraid if you get to aggressive there won’t be much left.
@@jasonc5021 Just do it, if the grass is thick. Bermuda is an extremely vibrant "weed" and comes back with a vengeance. Just make sure to give it water and food, once the verticutting is done.
Do you know if I can do this with zeon zoysia? I have a reel mower but it doesnt want to go below .80 inch HOC. My push mower can get through it on the lowest setting and will scalp down to dirt almost. I'm assuming it will not kill the grass??
Yo Marcus. I have never worked with the zeon. However i really don’t think it’ll hurt the grass.. it will be more beneficial then anything. Just make sure when doing it u do it in the hotter months (summer) for optimal results.

Yes you can do this to Bermuda. We have done it many times to Bermuda grass here in south Florida. The zoysia and bermuda are very similar

Grass comes back automatically… we have never had to reseed after our cuts 👍
