I worked at a middle school-aged summer camp in 2017 and we had not one, not two, but TEN different parents Amazon Prime their kids Borax and Elmer's Glue so they could make slime in their cabins. An absolute nightmare.
At Target we have to monitor the kids getting Borax but Elmer's Glue and Yeast was ok. At this point it's just better to get the kids premade slime if you can't monitor their slime-making process
I'm glad I was past the marketed audience when slime became the hit thing because I was a Playdough eater and I can see younger me traveling the same path with slime because of how many food themed ones there are
I work in an arcade and SLIME IS EVERYWHERE. They get sold more than any other toy, even the tiny bouncy balls. We once found a rat king of Pokemons, about 12 Pokemon plushies being glued together by neon goop. We have a goo with a plastic shark inside and kids go feral for them.
the rise of fidgeting toys is so facinating to me because as a neutrotypical person it honestly made it harder for me to fidget with items and toys because they’re seen as, well, toys, and not things i need to focus. it makes me wonder what the catalyst was for them to suddenly explode in the market

While it IS very annoying that NT’s treating fidget toys as just regular toys for fun makes it harder to use them in public without being judged for playing with toys, making stuff like slime, fidget spinners, pop sockets, etc DID make them easier to find and more accessible. Idk, it’s kinda interesting to think about.
Idk how old you are but I found that once I was out of high school, and in to college and jobs, people care a lot less about them and are a lot more open to their use. Most adults have something they fidget with but don’t notice (pens, markers, jewelry, ext), so once you say oh I just need something in my hands, they leave it at that (at least at the places I’ve worked). Fidgeting is used primarily as a coping skill for neurodivergent folk. A lot of neurotypical people copied the style of fidgeting, but to them fidgeting was more about playing with and having fun like a usual toy then helping with anxiety or sensory processing issues. I remember being neurodivergent in a classroom and needing fidgets to help stay still, and having other classmates who were neurotypical using fidget spinners to play with, which made a loud whirring noise I could pick up on especially well, and it did a good job distracting me while the fidgets I used were stress balls or stretchy toys and were quiet. I could pick up on small sounds especially well, and they didn’t even need fidgets in the first place, they just had them because they were trendy. Many neurodivergent adults need to use fidgets even though they are primarily seen as for kids.
AuDHD adult here! My bag is full of half a dozen fidget toys that I use regularly. I wish I'd had some in school because my teachers REALLY hated it when I clicked my ballpoint pens
Fidgeting is not only specific for neurodivergent people although they do this more often than neurotypical people. Fidgeting is literally a coping mechanism for any kind of stressful or uncomfortable situation but also when they are bored. So they didn't 'copy' it. They just adapted it into their life when it became popular, replacing playing with pens, clothing materials or their fingers with fidget toys.
I've recently re-entered my Slime Phase through watching a bunch of satisfying crunchy slime videos on TH-cam and Twitter. Over the years I've forgotten how cool the whole creation process is and the creativity of these slime shops with all their aesthetically pleasing slimes!
I'm just trying to comprehend why they thought it was a good idea to dump rotting food scraps on people in the first place ;u; I can't even wash dishes without gagging
I remember a Nickelodeon Magazine article that had a slime recipe - it was just thinned vanilla pudding and green food dye. I’m just going to think of this instead of the awful molded food scrap concoction.

Weirdly, in the UK, the stuff they dropped on people in game shows like that was always called "gunge", rather than slime, thought it pretty much looked to be exactly the same kind of stuff, as far as I can tell
It’s funny that nowadays when I think of slime on the internet, I think of “slime tutorials” and the specific use of that term in the Broadway/musical theatre community (iykyk).
I actually recall that when the Nickelodeon Studios was in Universal Studios, Orlando, FL, they had tours and during the tour, they had one of the kids try tasting the slime. According to the kid, it tasted like applesauce. It's always a memory that sticks out in my mind.
As a slime reviewer and soon to be shop owner, I feel like slime can be a super helpful tool for relaxation! As crazy as it is, I’d consider slime to be an art form of sorts. Hundreds of shop owners making their own products to look as pretty and aesthetically pleasing as possible sparks creativity in the community! It’s an awesome way to ease anxiety and I definitely think the market for slime gets bigger every day!
I remember slime becoming popular in my country (Spain) via Chinese Bazaars selling the garbage slime cans of unnamed brands for really cheap. The smell was weird and I'm pretty sure those slimes were toxic for the skin, but they were a little popular. Then the slime trend died out until internet slime happened and pharmacies made a nice profit out of contact solution to the point that you needed to present an eye prescription to buy contact liquid due to shortage
we also had those in the UAE! some were name-brand, some weren't. they smelled so bad, the smell would linger on your skin and they felt really wet, almost unpleasant now that i think of it. i remember seeing kids at school with them

I super blame Nickelodeon's 90s slime fascination for my present day putty addiction. I use the Crazy Aaron's putty nearly daily just to play with haha
I guess I have 0 taste because I never really wanted to get slimed. It just seemed like it'd be annoying as hell to clean and not that fun of an experience while it happened. That's also why I don't really like getting wet even, because it takes so long to dry off. It's just pointless downtime that isn't really worth it.
I've been pretty active in the slime community ever since it's rebirth in 2016, and watching it evolve through the years has been really neat. It started out as a cute, sparkly and and aesthetically pleasing kids toy, to being a sort of art-form. There are many smaller creators in the slime community that make slimes more "artistically driven," i guess you can say LOLLL. Apart from it being a satisfying fidget thing, it's also become an outlet to express emotion, share stories, and inspire. Slowly but surely, it's evolving to become a collectible of sorts. There are many older teen/adults who are genuinely interested in this hobby, and add their own unique spin to the products. It's very cool. I too am very curious to see how far slime will go in this day and age, especially with these more creative and artistic creators blossoming in the community 👍

Great video! I will say though, it wasn't Nickelodeon that was throwing rotten food on kids. YCDTOT was an acquired show from Canada and they were sliming kids for years before Nickelodeon picked up the show, even though they did request more at some point but that was much farther in when the slime wasn't rotting food anymore (and even the rotting food anecdote has been debated by people who worked on the set). And we know what the Double Dare Slime was. It was applesauce, vanilla pudding, green food dye and powder coffee creamer. There's a lot of different recipes for slime that have been used over the years but the slime used at Nick was always edible.

Never was a slime kid myself, but silly putty and flarp were how I calmed down in elementary school. Flarp was more for the funny noises and fun times, but silly putty has been therapeutic for me since I was young.
Oh man. As a child of the 90s, I wanted more than anything to know what slime tasted like. Interesting to learn there was never one consistent slime recipe! (and im super thankful for never getting the opportunity to try the version they used in the 80s!) Kinda surprised you didnt mention Slime Time Live, though! That show was DEDICATED to sliming people more than double dare ever did!
i used to play Slime Time in the bath with my sister lmao we would fill up buckets of water and ask/answer nickelodeon trivia- if we got it wrong we’d get “slimed” with cold bucket water (we were like tiny children soo shared baths weren’t weird yet)

I was NOT a kid who wanted to get slimed lol. Just watching those kids get slimed on Nickelodeon already made me cringe. It looked like a sensory nightmare, and I never knew how right I was.
back in the early-mid 2000's, i loved slime and remember searching far and wide online for slime recipes but could never find any good ones. i remember specifically a recipe that just used cornstarch and water. sure it was fun, i made it often, but it wasn't anywhere near as cool as the slime recipes you can find online today!
My fingers were crossed that you mentioned the TMNT Ooze, it’s been a mainstay for the franchise since the original line, I have a distinct memory of getting a 2003 Mutations Donatello that came with a canister of ooze for my birthday one year, some good memories.
Until watching this video I didn't realize that I was a "slime-kid". As a kid I loved these garbage can slimes with worms in it (they still kinda appeal to me to this day tbh) and I watched the slimey-content of Nickeloden on a daily basis. Today I really enjoy those ASMR slime posts on social media, those are calming like no other content. Maybe this was the result of the early influences of slime-based content and toys? I kinda just now realized how slime was pretty much consistent through my childhood up to this day. 🤔

I'm so thankfull for having discovered you channel! Normally when people do nostalgia thingies, it's the 2000s. But for some reason, you're always able to talk about the early 2010s children's entertainment which is exactly when I was growing up! I thought I was the only 'gore kid' back in the day (early 2010's) who wanted to get slimed in the most extreme way possible, and if not possible, see others get slimed in the most extreme way possible! Just a thingy, do y'all remember the slime car wash from 201x? That was my favourite year. I'm like one of the most clean and well-behaved children/young adults you'll ever meet. I've always wondered why I went through that 'gore phase' how, why etc. Thanks for clarifying my childhood! Your videos are a trip down memory lane. ;)
I once found a bottle of Green Slime Shampoo in the back of a linen closet in my childhood home. This was probably in like 2012. I was born in 1994 so it felt like uncovering a lost artifact of a long gone culture (my older brother's childhood). Still looked like slime, tho I didn't have the courage to put it on my body.
I think for me and many kids who were in primary school in the UK in the late 90's-early 00's, the craze of 'alien eggs' was an early experience of having your own slime. They were clear plastic eggs that could be opened, and contained a squishy rubber alien foetus wrapped in slime. They were collectables with many colour combinations which couldn't be seen until you opened the packaging, which made some colours rare and desirable. There were always rumours about how, if kept under the right conditions (temperature, slime colour), the alien could become pregnant and give birth to another alien (which was obviously false). I think it turned out that there was another company who did actually make 'pregnant' versions of the same toy, so it's no surprise this rumour spread.
my mom used to work for nickelodeon (the hotel!) so I got to see all about the sliming at a young age. not to mention the tradition at the kids choice awards. cool to see how all of that evolved (but also i was a part of that slime fad...my mom was not happy abt it)
Probably the closest thing I have to a slime toy are those Heroes of Goo-Jit-Zu figures. I'm almost convinced they were inspired by the popularity of slime toys from the late 2010's haha. Like with slime, you could stretch and squish the toys, and they have unique fillings that make them really fun to play with. Later waves also had some unique gimmick to make them more appealing. Half the appeal is the toys having characters you can get attached to like Blazagon and Trash, thus letting you play with them like with an action figure. I only have one toy from the Galaxy Attack line, but I'd love to get more of them! GA Blazagon is just so fun to hold and squish.
i have been going through a "slime phase" ever since i was basically a baby - i use to try and make slime without glue by stealing and using my moms makeup with a bunch of other random stuff i found in the house i ended up discovering a way to make playdoh and now i make it for my baby cousin whenever she comes over lol -
I can only think about how the nickelodeon slime period was probably the time that slime and messy fetishes were developed by watchers and producers on the show. I dont know if this is true but it sure is a disturbing but interesting thought.
Back as a kid, there was this slime toy that was marketed as a creepy body horror trinket because it had a fake eyeball in it. It was watery and not sticky but I found it relaxing to play! Fast forward to today, I dont like today's slime because the food slimes look too pretty and I have thid child-like instinct to eat them
I remember having a lot of slime in my childhood. I had an obsession with it but ended up having it for at least 1 week before it was totally ruined. I dont remember having ANY water snakes as well until now when im literally holding one right now. Im hoping to get more slime soon because it is so fun to play with, and it just relaxes me when i have stress. (I HAD to mention the water snakes because this is the first ever video im watching that's saying a product i literally bought in the same day, so that's why that off-topic area was there.)
Months ago, I watched the Arcade Culture video and thought it was some kid's school presentation simply being uploaded to YT. It was cute background noise while gaming. Now, without being subscribed, I am recommended everything you've done and it's surprisingly interesting to listen about what was popular after my childhood ended and how some trends from that childhood evolved to fit into your own. awesome video! loved the background & history of slime. it's safe to say there is a whole culture of slime, and i was unaware of how much it had evolved in recent years! i always loved slime and putty based toys and still have a jar of neon green dollar store slime in my room. the new slimes may be cute but i think classic radioactive green will always be my favorite.
Nickelodeon also made another kind of slime in the early 2000s called Gooze, I got some one year for Christmas and it wound up getting all over my mom's vintage table cloth and the next year, she "wrote a note to Santa" saying no more Gooze
My mom would buy me and my brother literally any other toys then slime and play doh. She would take it off of us if we got it as a gift and buy us a different toy. She didn't want us getting it in the carpet or in our hair. So I've just never really gotten into it.
Fun fact: There’s a kind of slime that is used in occupational therapy for adults meant to build hand strength. They call it a “putty” but having squished it myself I can confirm it most definitely feels like slime. My 68 year old mother’s occupational therapist introduced us to it. My husband even got some on Amazon some to build hand strength for the guitar.
In my country, I remember back then they sold slime-like toys in the street market, it actually baloon filled with flour with googly eye sticked to the baloon. It can be shaped like elephant, etc.
Omg Flubber!!! My childhood slime exposure in the 2000s consisted of Nickelodeon, little balls of slime from the quarter machine (where you get toys and candy), and people making diy borax and glue slime for science fairs. Another phenomenon has been the popularization of interactive experiences like the Museum of Ice Cream, Illusions, and even Sex, and Escape Rooms, etc. I was in Soho, NY one time when I walked by a line of parents and kids in line for a slime experience. I couldn’t believe we made it to that point.

I wasn't a part of the Gak generation (I was born in 2000) but we had something similar called Flarp. It was sold at Walgreens for $1 and smelled like ammonia-infused bubble gum. We also had a Nickelodeon-branded slime called Goooze (that's Gooze with THREE O's) that is long forgotten but I remember it so vividly and was my first introduction to slime toys.
I used to work for one of the Nickelodeon theme parks and we were taught the propriety recipes for various slimes and gaks used in the Double Dare live show we did. What we made wasn’t any variety of edible slimes despite other versions of the show having it. I was a cast member of this live show version of Double Dare that ran twice daily for a month at various times during the year (we did Double Scare in October that was more Halloween themed). We got kids to sign up who would show up like an hour or half an hour or so before the show and we’d teach them how it worked and show them the slimes and gaks, we had to make sure they were totally ok with getting messy (though we provided them with outfits and shoes to wear during the game, and stuff to wash up with in the bathrooms). The game was two teams of two kids each competing in trivia rounds and physical challenges. At the end the winning team of 2 went through our Double Dare Obstacle Course (we had the wringer and the pick-it nose, among other items) and if they could complete that in time, they won what we called “Nickelodeon’s highest honor” of being slimed. (Even if they didn’t complete it in time, we made sure the slime didn’t go to waste and slimed them anyway for making it as far as they did lol) I slimed so many kids during my time there lol it was a wild time. Sad to say the show hasn’t been able to make a comeback in a world affected by covid (we were in rehearsals and set to open again right when the shutdowns began 🙃 and then we all got laid off lol some of us came back later on when Entertainment started to bounce back but it’s just not the same without Double Dare). I still have my tshirts from our show and I treasure them 💚

I don’t remember the specific amounts of any of the ingredients, but that’s what we used! This one is /not/ edible lol do not try at home 😅

Here in Mexico back in the 2000's a cookie company had a promotion with The Simpsons. If you got a winning card inside your cookie pack, you would win a "Bart Fart Slime". I remember the commercials pointing that out majorly, so it's odd how that marketing worked on me. I won one. It was my favorite toy and I ripped all the time

I actually recall that when the Nickelodeon Studios was in Universal Studios, Orlando, FL, they had tours and during the tour, they had one of the kids try tasting the slime. According to the kid, it tasted like applesauce. It's always a memory that sticks out in my mind.

As a slime reviewer and soon to be shop owner, I feel like slime can be a super helpful tool for relaxation! As crazy as it is, I’d consider slime to be an art form of sorts. Hundreds of shop owners making their own products to look as pretty and aesthetically pleasing as possible sparks creativity in the community! It’s an awesome way to ease anxiety and I definitely think the market for slime gets bigger every day!
I remember slime becoming popular in my country (Spain) via Chinese Bazaars selling the garbage slime cans of unnamed brands for really cheap. The smell was weird and I'm pretty sure those slimes were toxic for the skin, but they were a little popular. Then the slime trend died out until internet slime happened and pharmacies made a nice profit out of contact solution to the point that you needed to present an eye prescription to buy contact liquid due to shortage
we also had those in the UAE! some were name-brand, some weren't. they smelled so bad, the smell would linger on your skin and they felt really wet, almost unpleasant now that i think of it. i remember seeing kids at school with them

I guess I have 0 taste because I never really wanted to get slimed. It just seemed like it'd be annoying as hell to clean and not that fun of an experience while it happened. That's also why I don't really like getting wet even, because it takes so long to dry off. It's just pointless downtime that isn't really worth it.
I've been pretty active in the slime community ever since it's rebirth in 2016, and watching it evolve through the years has been really neat.
It started out as a cute, sparkly and and aesthetically pleasing kids toy, to being a sort of art-form.
There are many smaller creators in the slime community that make slimes more "artistically driven," i guess you can say LOLLL. Apart from it being a satisfying fidget thing, it's also become an outlet to express emotion, share stories, and inspire. Slowly but surely, it's evolving to become a collectible of sorts.
There are many older teen/adults who are genuinely interested in this hobby, and add their own unique spin to the products. It's very cool. I too am very curious to see how far slime will go in this day and age, especially with these more creative and artistic creators blossoming in the community 👍
I found your channel a few weeks ago an immediately got hooked on your videos. Most of the videos are relatable and make me think back to when I was like 8. You have a lot of good videos, and I know there will be more good ones to come :)
Great video! I will say though, it wasn't Nickelodeon that was throwing rotten food on kids. YCDTOT was an acquired show from Canada and they were sliming kids for years before Nickelodeon picked up the show, even though they did request more at some point but that was much farther in when the slime wasn't rotting food anymore (and even the rotting food anecdote has been debated by people who worked on the set). And we know what the Double Dare Slime was. It was applesauce, vanilla pudding, green food dye and powder coffee creamer. There's a lot of different recipes for slime that have been used over the years but the slime used at Nick was always edible.
Thank you for this! I got confused for a minute because I was pretty sure YCDTOT was Canadian, and we didn't get Nickelodeon up here until I was an adult. Makes sense though! Good to see we'd perfected the art of sliming before it made its way to Nickelodeon 😂

My sister had her own slime cartel at our elementary school. She charged a few cents per slime, but she took it so seriously.
Never was a slime kid myself, but silly putty and flarp were how I calmed down in elementary school. Flarp was more for the funny noises and fun times, but silly putty has been therapeutic for me since I was young.
Oh man. As a child of the 90s, I wanted more than anything to know what slime tasted like. Interesting to learn there was never one consistent slime recipe! (and im super thankful for never getting the opportunity to try the version they used in the 80s!) Kinda surprised you didnt mention Slime Time Live, though! That show was DEDICATED to sliming people more than double dare ever did!
i used to play Slime Time in the bath with my sister lmao we would fill up buckets of water and ask/answer nickelodeon trivia- if we got it wrong we’d get “slimed” with cold bucket water (we were like tiny children soo shared baths weren’t weird yet)

I was NOT a kid who wanted to get slimed lol. Just watching those kids get slimed on Nickelodeon already made me cringe. It looked like a sensory nightmare, and I never knew how right I was.
back in the early-mid 2000's, i loved slime and remember searching far and wide online for slime recipes but could never find any good ones. i remember specifically a recipe that just used cornstarch and water. sure it was fun, i made it often, but it wasn't anywhere near as cool as the slime recipes you can find online today!

My fingers were crossed that you mentioned the TMNT Ooze, it’s been a mainstay for the franchise since the original line, I have a distinct memory of getting a 2003 Mutations Donatello that came with a canister of ooze for my birthday one year, some good memories.
Until watching this video I didn't realize that I was a "slime-kid". As a kid I loved these garbage can slimes with worms in it (they still kinda appeal to me to this day tbh) and I watched the slimey-content of Nickeloden on a daily basis. Today I really enjoy those ASMR slime posts on social media, those are calming like no other content. Maybe this was the result of the early influences of slime-based content and toys? I kinda just now realized how slime was pretty much consistent through my childhood up to this day. 🤔

I'm so thankfull for having discovered you channel! Normally when people do nostalgia thingies, it's the 2000s. But for some reason, you're always able to talk about the early 2010s children's entertainment which is exactly when I was growing up!
I thought I was the only 'gore kid' back in the day (early 2010's) who wanted to get slimed in the most extreme way possible, and if not possible, see others get slimed in the most extreme way possible!

I once found a bottle of Green Slime Shampoo in the back of a linen closet in my childhood home. This was probably in like 2012. I was born in 1994 so it felt like uncovering a lost artifact of a long gone culture (my older brother's childhood). Still looked like slime, tho I didn't have the courage to put it on my body.
I think for me and many kids who were in primary school in the UK in the late 90's-early 00's, the craze of 'alien eggs' was an early experience of having your own slime. They were clear plastic eggs that could be opened, and contained a squishy rubber alien foetus wrapped in slime. They were collectables with many colour combinations which couldn't be seen until you opened the packaging, which made some colours rare and desirable.
There were always rumours about how, if kept under the right conditions (temperature, slime colour), the alien could become pregnant and give birth to another alien (which was obviously false). I think it turned out that there was another company who did actually make 'pregnant' versions of the same toy, so it's no surprise this rumour spread.

my mom used to work for nickelodeon (the hotel!) so I got to see all about the sliming at a young age. not to mention the tradition at the kids choice awards. cool to see how all of that evolved (but also i was a part of that slime fad...my mom was not happy abt it)
Probably the closest thing I have to a slime toy are those Heroes of Goo-Jit-Zu figures. I'm almost convinced they were inspired by the popularity of slime toys from the late 2010's haha.
Like with slime, you could stretch and squish the toys, and they have unique fillings that make them really fun to play with. Later waves also had some unique gimmick to make them more appealing. Half the appeal is the toys having characters you can get attached to like Blazagon and Trash, thus letting you play with them like with an action figure. I only have one toy from the Galaxy Attack line, but I'd love to get more of them! GA Blazagon is just so fun to hold and squish.

i have been going through a "slime phase" ever since i was basically a baby - i use to try and make slime without glue by stealing and using my moms makeup with a bunch of other random stuff i found in the house
i ended up discovering a way to make playdoh and now i make it for my baby cousin whenever she comes over lol -
I can only think about how the nickelodeon slime period was probably the time that slime and messy fetishes were developed by watchers and producers on the show. I dont know if this is true but it sure is a disturbing but interesting thought.

Back as a kid, there was this slime toy that was marketed as a creepy body horror trinket because it had a fake eyeball in it. It was watery and not sticky but I found it relaxing to play!
Fast forward to today, I dont like today's slime because the food slimes look too pretty and I have thid child-like instinct to eat them
I remember having a lot of slime in my childhood. I had an obsession with it but ended up having it for at least 1 week before it was totally ruined. I dont remember having ANY water snakes as well until now when im literally holding one right now. Im hoping to get more slime soon because it is so fun to play with, and it just relaxes me when i have stress. (I HAD to mention the water snakes because this is the first ever video im watching that's saying a product i literally bought in the same day, so that's why that off-topic area was there.)
Months ago, I watched the Arcade Culture video and thought it was some kid's school presentation simply being uploaded to YT. It was cute background noise while gaming. Now, without being subscribed, I am recommended everything you've done and it's surprisingly interesting to listen about what was popular after my childhood ended and how some trends from that childhood evolved to fit into your own. awesome video! loved the background & history of slime. it's safe to say there is a whole culture of slime, and i was unaware of how much it had evolved in recent years! i always loved slime and putty based toys and still have a jar of neon green dollar store slime in my room. the new slimes may be cute but i think classic radioactive green will always be my favorite.
Nickelodeon also made another kind of slime in the early 2000s called Gooze, I got some one year for Christmas and it wound up getting all over my mom's vintage table cloth and the next year, she "wrote a note to Santa" saying no more Gooze
My mom would buy me and my brother literally any other toys then slime and play doh. She would take it off of us if we got it as a gift and buy us a different toy. She didn't want us getting it in the carpet or in our hair. So I've just never really gotten into it.

Fun fact: There’s a kind of slime that is used in occupational therapy for adults meant to build hand strength. They call it a “putty” but having squished it myself I can confirm it most definitely feels like slime. My 68 year old mother’s occupational therapist introduced us to it. My husband even got some on Amazon some to build hand strength for the guitar.
In my country, I remember back then they sold slime-like toys in the street market, it actually baloon filled with flour with googly eye sticked to the baloon. It can be shaped like elephant, etc.
we had these too! though instead of googly eyes, i think faces were drawn on the balloons with a marker. i loved them!

Omg Flubber!!! My childhood slime exposure in the 2000s consisted of Nickelodeon, little balls of slime from the quarter machine (where you get toys and candy), and people making diy borax and glue slime for science fairs. Another phenomenon has been the popularization of interactive experiences like the Museum of Ice Cream, Illusions, and even Sex, and Escape Rooms, etc. I was in Soho, NY one time when I walked by a line of parents and kids in line for a slime experience. I couldn’t believe we made it to that point.

I wasn't a part of the Gak generation (I was born in 2000) but we had something similar called Flarp. It was sold at Walgreens for $1 and smelled like ammonia-infused bubble gum. We also had a Nickelodeon-branded slime called Goooze (that's Gooze with THREE O's) that is long forgotten but I remember it so vividly and was my first introduction to slime toys.
First Willy Wonka Cinematic Universe and now the Slimeverse, Dream Jelly I hope they both manifest on the silver screen!
I used to work for one of the Nickelodeon theme parks and we were taught the propriety recipes for various slimes and gaks used in the Double Dare live show we did. What we made wasn’t any variety of edible slimes despite other versions of the show having it. I was a cast member of this live show version of Double Dare that ran twice daily for a month at various times during the year (we did Double Scare in October that was more Halloween themed). We got kids to sign up who would show up like an hour or half an hour or so before the show and we’d teach them how it worked and show them the slimes and gaks, we had to make sure they were totally ok with getting messy (though we provided them with outfits and shoes to wear during the game, and stuff to wash up with in the bathrooms). The game was two teams of two kids each competing in trivia rounds and physical challenges. At the end the winning team of 2 went through our Double Dare Obstacle Course (we had the wringer and the pick-it nose, among other items) and if they could complete that in time, they won what we called “Nickelodeon’s highest honor” of being slimed. (Even if they didn’t complete it in time, we made sure the slime didn’t go to waste and slimed them anyway for making it as far as they did lol) I slimed so many kids during my time there lol it was a wild time. Sad to say the show hasn’t been able to make a comeback in a world affected by covid (we were in rehearsals and set to open again right when the shutdowns began 🙃 and then we all got laid off lol some of us came back later on when Entertainment started to bounce back but it’s just not the same without Double Dare). I still have my tshirts from our show and I treasure them 💚

I don’t remember the specific amounts of any of the ingredients, but that’s what we used! This one is /not/ edible lol do not try at home 😅
