    How many fatal accidents begin with a plane trying to tell the pilot something before takeoff and the pilot ignoring it?

      Good question! Some call it Gethomeitis (Get home ‘itis).....got to get home attitude outweighs warning signs.

    Best plane ever made, I have always loved those birds!

      Yes, they are very beautiful airplanes. The owner of the seaplane base has 2 gorgeous piston powered Mallards.

    I was going to say, that airplane is full of water, or lead!!!!! Can't believe the pilots alarm bells in his head were not going off. Surprised he kept pushing it!!!!!

      I was standing next to a couple of Mallard and Goose pilots when I was taking the video, and they were all surprised he kept pushing it. We were all concerned something bad was going to happen.

    The porpoising was completely pilot induced combined with leaving a drain plug out, the pilot is probably an accident waiting to happen.

    Just a bit more instruction on water take offs and that would not have happened. Water in the hull was not the problem apparently.

      Fred, sorry for the delayed response. I think we used to have a mutual friend, Dale S from Palouse. Dale used to talk about you often…..if this is the same Fred I’m thinking of.

      Yes! And when the first try doesn’t work, it’s best to stop and figure out why.

      You’re one up on me. I’ve never flown in one, but have some quality time in a Goose.

    What day was this video taken? I'm almost certain that I was out on the water boating that day and I have a video if it taking off 😂

      That was taken at Cavanaugh Bay in 2018. I forget which day, but it was July or August as I recall. I just happened to be boating up there when it came in. I know the people at the seaplane base there and they invited me to come take a tour of the Albatross. Lots of fun.

    I don’t know about the drain plug bit… These planes are meant to carry a lot of weight more than just some water.???

    • @gregotterson6724
      @gregotterson6724  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they can carry a lot of weight and it certainly could have been something else on top of the water problem. They were encouraged to have it checked out before trying to takeoff again, but chose not to. I sure hope they did when they got back.
