The Laban Rosa Lilac was the first video I watched on your channel, and I actually sold it, regretted selling it, and repurchased it! It is now forever going to be in my collection even though I have much fancier ones now. I just love it and can't even explain why, but I have never regretted letting go of a pen before or since!
I love this video, so relatable and honest. I feel the part where you said you'd 'rather write with something else' than that particular pen...that it is a good sign to perhaps let it go. Appreciate you saying that. I have some thinking to do.
I’m glad this video resonated with you! I know some people have a hard time selling their pens, and that's okay. As long as your collection works for you, there is no right or wrong.
I was chuckling through your video…I can’t relate to what you do (I hardly think of selling anything) but my middle daughter thinks like you. She rarely purchases anything impulsively and doesn’t really struggle to let go of the things she no longer loves or uses. I could use more of that thinking. Good format to recap your pens sold!
That is a very good point! Some people just seem to have a knack for that. Everyone approaches their collections differently and that is the fun of this hobby!
Glad it was helpful! And selling a pen does not have to mean that it was not functioning, or get wrecked in some way. All the pens are beautiful and will be loved and appreciated elsewhere.
Great video!! So many lovely pens (my husband is still trying to understand why we catch and release but you’re so right.. collections are fluid and change year over year). The Sheaffer is still being loved here. 🫶🏽 - I don’t know if it would have meant it stayed with you longer, but the nib and feed were a bit separated, and I got some local help tightening that gap which really improved the writing experience. It’s so lovely and I definitely think I’ll have it for quite a while ☺️
Yes, our collections are definitely fluid! And I am so sorry that the nib and feed were separated. I had the nib looked at when I was at the PNW Pen Show and that was not discovered as an issue. I am glad you have it writing the way it should be (which means it was meant to be with you!).
Absolutely no worries! Promise! It honestly makes me love it more because I got to learn something new (and it’s my only lever filler right now so it’s super special) ☺️
Hey Karyna!!!! Great idea for a video. You know that Moonlit Raden was my favorite!!!!! If Bart wasn’t making me a pen from a blank he had, I would be in tears that I missed the sale….lol. So many pens I was surprised you sold like the Luck Star and about the issue with the Tokubetsu. I have the same problem but decided to use them as dip pens .Thank you so much for sharing!!!! and Happy Holidays to you & your family.
I always enjoy these videos and even go back to your older ones for reference. Now I’m confident that you may like a similar grip and weight in pens and because I can only buy online, these honest videos help me out. 💕
I’d really love for you to go into what makes a pen comfortable for you. Have you? I’m still figuring out what I do and don’t love and at times know I need to cull my collection because it is insanely overwhelming. I’m also the same. I fell for Benu and then bought 6 thinking I needed them all, but somehow I don’t always reach for them. Your videos have helped me realize being more intentional with pen purchases is a good thing.
This is a hard question to answer because every person is different. I like a smooth transition from the body to the grip, I like larger pens (with a grip section larger than 10.5mm approximately). I don't like facets (like the Benu Euphoria). But that is something I have learned over time.
I know of one of the pens that is being enjoyed and has been inked nearly every day since it was received. Sometimes a decision to let a pen go can be very easy and then there are times where it is incredibly difficult. Usually due to the sentimental value.
great video. I recently bought a pen that i kind of regret that I am thinking of selling. It's all good and part of the process I feel as we discover what pens really spark joy
Sometimes you have to let go to make space for something new. And it's true, it is all about the journey. I've enjoyed what I have learned about fountain pens in these last few years.
Thanks for sharing both your sales and the process -- a bit inspriing! Maybe this is the year I actually break down and sell some in the spirit of "dutch cleansing". I'm getting older and accept that no one else in my family has inherited my pen addiction so it's time to start culling my collection down to those I really enjoy/treasure. BTW, I agree with you on Sailor (and somewhat on Platinum, too); the writing experiences with those two just doesn't appeal to me. Now Pilot is a whole 'nother matter!
I saw your list first and saw the Pelikan M800 Renaissance Brown on this list. I was surprised because I know you love that pen, then I watched the video and it was not on there.
@@FarzBol ah there is an explanation for that. I had put it on preorder from Atlas then discovered that the Pelikan M1000 was at PenChalet. I had credit at PenChalet so decided to cancel the preorder with Atlas for the M800 and buy the M1000 instead.
Thank you for this video! It helps me a bit with guilt of buying pens, and then...not using them. The same Estie Rainforest might get sold (instead of adding Estie Jurassic to have green Esties), because i rarely use it, i gravitate more towards Leonardo/Kilk or other Esterbrook
Glad it was helpful! I see my collection as fluid, based on my tastes and my budget. And if a pen you sell can fund a pen you really want, I think that’s great!
I’m glad someone else out there also doesn’t suffer uncomfortable pens. I’m personally looking to part with my Platinum Century because the step up is just too uncomfortable for me. Also, I love the fine nib and the pencil feedback, but I actually am now realizing that it’s finer than I need it to be, considering the price of the pen. So I decided I’d be better off sticking with my Pilot Custom Heritage 912 , as it is fine enough for my most of my writing needs, and use my fine and extra fine Pilot Kakunos and Platinum Preppies if I require anything that writes finer. Of course fountain pens are a luxury purchase, but I still consider usages per dollar, which is why I don’t feel comfortable sinking a lot of money into a pen whose nib doesn’t suit my everyday writing habits, or is just not comfortable enough to use everyday. I own a standard black and gold Sailor Pro Gear 21K, but I’m still ambivalent toward Sailors overall, and I much prefer Pilot.
Gee I thought I was the only one that just could not warm up to Sailor pens. They write different than everything else. I quit buying them. Nice wrap up for the year. I do confess I don’t sell my pens. I’ve frequently fallen back in love with pens in storage.
Not everyone sells their pens and that's okay. I have not had any that I have regretted selling. I'm also the type of person to get overwhelmed if I have too many things sitting idle, not being used.
I'm not a Sailor person either. I really don't like how they write. Unlike you, I like a small pen but I really get it when it doesn't fit the way you want. Its distracting. Its hard because sometimes its not immediate and you have to write with it a bit to find out if it suits you or not.

I am so glad you ended up getting it back! Some pens just have a way of drawing us in.

This is a very useful video thank you. I particularly appreciated that 'just falling out of love' is a good enough reason to let a pen go.
Glad it was helpful! And selling a pen does not have to mean that it was not functioning, or get wrecked in some way. All the pens are beautiful and will be loved and appreciated elsewhere.
Loved the format. It was cool to see the actual pen you let go and as you explained your thoughts.
I’m glad you enjoyed the format! I was a little unsure but I am happy it turned out well.
Loved the subject matter and the format ❤
Thank you! I was unsure if this would work but glad it did.

I am so glad you enjoyed the video! And I'm happy to hear that you have an alternative with Bart. Happy Holidays to you too!

Glad you like them! It’s a good reference for me as well, looking back on what I sold.
I got that rainforest Estie from you and I LOVE IT 😍 thanks for letting that one go!
I'm so glad you're loving it!
I admire your ability to decide what you don’t need and move on and get money 💰 😊
Haha more money for more pens. 😊

I am so glad to hear that pen has gone to a good home! ☺️
Watching your expressions as you talk about the pens is just wonderful. I really enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ha! I knew you weren't in love with that Leo's sand. I told ya! greetings Karina !!
Yep you were right!

It is a good feeling to let go of some pens that we don't use as much, especially when it makes room for others!
And I agree - I LOVE the Pilot nibs!

Hello Karyna, I am not sure how I missed these pens being sold. Do you post on a specific platform?
I've posted here on TH-cam and on my Instagram profile. I don't post these in a video but as a photo.
Very nice video, so sad to see some of them go, but I’m sure they went to great home!
Thank you, I hope they are well-loved!

Comfort is a huge deal to me. If it starts to irritate me even a little bit, it ruins the whole experience!
💙💙💙 the Este Nouveau blue
So beautiful!

Oh man I am DYING for the Rainforest Estie but nobody has it anymore!! T_T
That’s tough - I found it on Reddit.
Omg I have been looking for that sailor nuts pen I would have loved to have bought it😢
Sorry you missed it, Carmen!

Yes, that's it - it's distracting if the pen is not comfortable, and that is such a personal thing.
