My friend gave me a hand-me-down bow last year to get into archery. The Gas strings I put on it this year are worth more than the bow itself. This year was my first year hunting. I shot a little four point mule deer from about 40 yards. I am thoroughly hooked on archery. I love your channel and all I have learned from it.
Was able to share an amazing hunting experience with my 19yr old daughter. Her first time hunting whitetail, she shot a 7 point with her bow. Needless to say, that was a proud papa moment. Thanks for all the great content, really love the videos. 👍🏻
I took a 150” 16 point nontypical whitetail with a bow this year - still amazed by that buck. The shot was only 10 yards but I had to thread a needle and everything worked perfectly. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world, MFJJ. It’s really making a difference for myself and others.
@@bearinthewoods3jerehoff is just proud of what he shot this year and he should be! Just because he shot a bigger deer than you this year doesn’t mean you have to give him crap
This year, two hours into bow hunting for the first time in my life I took the biggest buck of my life. I’ve rifle hunted for a few years and have taken deer that way and was always told archery is way better. Man, do I wish I listened earlier. I got my bow about ten days before the opening and practiced every day. Two hours into my first sit a mature 10 pointer gave me an opportunity and I made a great shot. I’m completely hooked now.
I was fortunate enough to take off of work for 2.5 weeks in early November and I was able to shoot a 140 class 10 pt buck. My first true pope and young quality whitetail buck since I started my archery journey. The feeling of releasing an arrow and hearing that pop of the diaphragm after looking at the topo of our farm and going in a hang an hunt on random ridge off the north side of one of our food plots is indescribable. When a plan comes together and you release a perfect arrow on the buck you was hunting, it’s just magical. I hope everyone gets to experience that feeling. Happy hunting and good luck to all. I want to go out west and continue my archery journey soon on Muley and Elk.
That’s me! I’m learning because of you and Dan and Tim. I’ve learned a lot in one year from you and them so thanks. I’ve gone hunting and didn’t get one but going late bow season again. Wish me luck maybe I’ll get my first one thanks again. MFJJ YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Had an opportunity to go on a proper hunt for the first time in 10 years this year. Took down a personal best boar (29 4/6 DP) on that trip with my 15yo Mathews Drenalin LD Got the bow put together and tuned myself pretty much thanks to your videos
This was my first year shooting archery and first year hunting whitetails. Thanks to all the info I’ve gotten from your videos, a lot of practice and some luck I’ve managed to get 2 does so far this season. You should come to seven springs tac next year.
The rambling section in the middle of the build reminds me of some old Bob Ross chats in the middle of his paintings. I love it! Keep it real, talk to the audience like you've known them for 20 years, and make a masterpiece while you do it. Good show!
I can’t tell you which bow is the best bow this year because I haven’t shot all the bows….. tried the Hoyt AX2 32 and the Lift 33X and I can tell you that the Lift 33X is the best bow for me and really that’s all that matters for all of us. Shoot the bow that is best for you and the one you have the most confidence hunting with.
Took my first ever archery deer this season. Doe at 31 yards. I have taken some pretty good bucks with a rifle, but this one was entirely different. I am hooked.
A lot of people complain about the price of these things. I'd say my only one is about the cost of the backbar brackets for no more than what's in them. Other than that, you can get everything with that bow integrated (minus the sight) for a little more than the cost of a flagship Hoyt or PSE bare. But, this is like purchasing a Benelli or Beretta vs a Remington 870. Quality and efficiency come at a cost.
Killed my biggest bow buck with the lift 29.5! Hoping next year they bring a timing feature along with the new tuning system and keep the same 29.5 platform. I’m here in Arkansas
We've become unburdened from what has been, and has been to what it could be. You see, I come from a middle-class family, raised by a woman I now call my grandmother-not because she birthed me, but because she knew the secrets of flour and forgiveness. While working at McDonald’s under the fluorescent glow, we came to understand what ‘dead in the hand’ truly meant: not just to the burgers, but to hard-working Americans chasing the dream. A dream not of golden arches, but of golden horizons, where even the deadest clutching of bows in one hand, and wrinkled maps of eternity in the other, would rise, wandering these fine lands, majestic and aimless, as far as the eye could see and further, into the very marrow of the soul, without top hats
Got a spike last weekend with my new bowtech core sr. The titanium sevr hybrid worked flawlessly blowing thru boyh shoulders. Watched him drop within 30 yards.
Got 130 yards away from a 160 type mule deer tonight and watched him for 20 minutes as the light faded away. Couldn’t get any closer as I ran out of cover and they were across a barren meadow. I’ll be back at him tomorrow though and hopefully this time the stories end is different.
I really want to go to a TAC especially the Terry Peak in SD but don’t have anyone to go with so I’m out. I’ll just live vicariously through your and Dan’s TAC vids.
Mathews releases new bows. Mfjj goes on his podcast to say he’s not a fan boy or biased because he’s using a different bow to hunt with. Next video is him setting up new Mathews bow to hunt with. I’ve been a fan since the beginning. Been watching Elkshape, mfjj, and Tim since they all appeared on Elkshape. I don’t care that you have a favorite bow or company. We come here for education and insight. I just don’t like all the complaining about what you think people think about you. Just own it man. We all have busy lives just like you do, so we like to come to these videos for the run down about all things archery and hunting. I know I appreciate the time you put into this just please be you and not worry about the noise.
That's always been my stance. If you love Mathews because they help make you a lot of money and give you sweet kickbacks like free hunts for pushing them, then fine, I would do the same in his shoes. It's the phony act of pretending to be unbiased and not bought and paid for that's annoying. At least when you watch someone like a Chris Bee you know for sure you're watching a paid salesman, not someone who is still trying to keep up the facade of Impartiality
@@sethruddock5360 that’s exactly the point you missed… he really likes it so he’s shooting it… which he should. It’s him trying to explain liking it. You don’t need to explain to us it’s your favorite. But saying it’s not your favorite and that you are going to use another bow, while making the next video about how you are going to use it. Your comment is annoying and you’re just adding to the noise. Is like everyone to an explanation for everything nowadays. It’s a great bow so he’s gonna shoot it. If i owned an archery shop I’d shoot a ton of bows too.
My 4 yr old boy was eager to hunt with dad this fall. He was involved from the start, setting up trail cameras, ground blinds, etc. I planned to shoot the first deer that came to the blind in hopes to not bore him and deter him from hunting. We had a few does come in and the boy surprised me by wanting to pass them up and wait for a buck. He gave me “the green light” to pull the trigger on a little 4 point (4x4). Seeing his excitement from the first time he spotted the buck, after the shot and following the blood trail (75 yards) until we found the animal, was the biggest trophy for me. Take a child hunting, you won’t regret it. Cheers
I got 165” main frame 10 whitetail with 18 scoreable points with the bow this year! I live and hunt southern Indiana. Love the videos! Good luck on your elk hunt!
Was able to harvest 3 does this year on my first year bow hunting, 2nd year hunting. 1st from 15 yards out of ground blind, 2nd at 42 yards from tree stand, and last one at 61 yards in the wide open. Shot my bow a lot preseason, had to do some self training with help from some of your videos to build my confidence and it has paid off. Really enjoy the sport and would love to upgrade my setup in the future
Hey Josh. As we both know family comes first then hunting. Well on the morning of the 26th of October I was suppose to go out and sit in a stand but I was not able to get to due to my wife and two daughters being sick I woke up that morning play the good husband and father staying home to a picture from my father in-law where he had shot a big 4.5-5 year old heavy chocolate colored rack 9 point whitetail. Where I was suppose to sit. I was ecstatic for him but bumped inside. I went out the next morning sat in the same stand and around 9:30 that morning I was able to shoot a 3-3.5 year old 9 point also. I appreciate your knowledge that help me tune and tweak my bow to achieve such a great animal.
Also, went to Big Sky for first time this year and it was amazing! It was great to see you guys on the course and nerve racking to shoot through with Joel in my face! Come to Michigan!! Would love to be able chat some!
You should do a video of putting the lift x limbs on a 24 lift. The bow shop is over 2 hours away from me and tuning is a big deal. I bought the new lift last year now I am screwed. But everything I can find is you can put the x limbs on the og. Riser. Keep us posted. Good work love the channel
I'm not sure that will be possible, at least not for a reasonable amount of money. It seems that the cam is actually attached to one of the limbs, and the screw moves the other limb in relation to that limb/cam assembly. If this is the case it might require buying a new set of libs and cams to install this system to the older Lift That would be a cool idea though maybe if enough people ask for it Mathews will produce an upgrade kit?
So far this year doing good. Killed a decent sized 5pt on public land in my home state, same night went to my buddies farm the next state over and got a really nice doe. First time for 2 deer in the same day let alone 2 states
I was able to go out with my father and get my first bow kill. Killed a nice 250 lbs 10 point whitetail in IL. I am officially hooked and looking into getting a new bow and going out and hunting turkeys this spring.
After years of trying, I was able to put it together and harvested my first bow deer a couple of weeks ago. A nice tall 9 should score around 120" weighed 140lbs dressed.
More indepth video on why or importance of lining up cams with laser first and then making equal adjustments for the visual learners out there. Thanks for the videos
I am looking forward to retiring in the next couple of years. I will be able to spend more time in the field! I harvested a nice Michigan 8 point during archery season this year.
Surprisingly, Glenwood Springs Colorado was my favorite TAC event last year. Smaller event and a great small town. Not nearly as "bourgesy" as Big Sky or SLC.
You've inspired me to shoot better, lightened my arrow system to 465 from 600. Rip v1s with podium inserts and titanium collars. Killed a buck in Ohio and in Pennsylvania! Learned how to tune from you. Been shooting 3D all summer and out to 70yrds, never shot past 30 in my 11years archery hunting BIG THANKS JOSH
Got a pretty nice Utah buck this year with an Arrow setup that you recommended to me. It worked incredibly. Almost too incredibly I never could find it lol

Of all the TAC’s last year, I enjoyed the IN/KY most. The courses were laid out awesome. Pretty difficult shots, and trails as well. I’ll for sure be going to IN/KY, and PA, but I’m hoping to make it to at least one more.
I'd love to see a video or description on how adjusting the wheeling can help with broadhead tuning. Love the videos Also shot my first elk this Oct in first rifle in Colorado. Needless to say I'm hooked
Got my first archery deer in Georgia. First weekend in a climber. First buck ever was a 10 points with a 29” Lift. I have been rife hunting for years, and it’s really hard to want to use the boom stick anymore.
So was curious, will you do a video with a Mathews lift x 29.5 Wanna see the comparison between 70 and 80lbs limbs. 70lbs maxed out draw weight and speed compared to 80lb limbs backed off draw weight and speed. Or if you’ve already done a video like that with a different bow? Getting ready to buy the new lift x and wanna go 80lbs limbs possibly but be neat to see if and how big of a difference there is between the two limbs with draw weight, speed, or anything else. Thank you FMJJ, keep up the great content sir
TAC PA for sure should be on the list to mix it up. If you want to shoot a lot of video on the course, Vermont TAC is less hectic a location and usually falls on a long weekend.
Went elk hunting in colorado for first time this year! No shots, but saw elk and bear! Have been able to get a whitetail doe and buck at home so far, have 2 more tags still!
I’ve only owned Mathews, 3 so far. Had a Halon 32 (was stolen), then got a V3 27, and bought (and sold) a Phase 4, I’m shooting the V3 right now and love it. I’m going to get a new bow in the next 3 months. I am looking at the Bowtech Core SR because of how easy it is to tune and they are on sale now. Why is this Lift X tuning method so great, hasn’t Bowtech done this for some time?
Hey man could you add a link to the laser you use for your cam lean or will just any laser work? I assumed it had to have a flat surface or something. Thanks for all your info.
I hunted fifteen minutes this year and filled both my buck tags. One in five minutes and one in ten. Took my boys hunting for youth season, they are young, but one was able to maintain discipline and took a shot at a very nice ten point mature whitetail, but he got buck fever and shot under him. The other boy has room for improvement. Our freezer is full, but my bow rest got messed up. Got a new one on and need to retune now but no need to hunt anymore. I am thinking about a new bow this coming year to replace my VXR. What say you, @MFJJ? Worth the upgrade?
San Antonio was a great tac last year! I always love the sunlight mountain tac in colorado I want to try south Dakota one year. Maybe look at the mountain archery fest in purgatory colorado. I am going there this year just to see how it goes.
Have been grinding for 30+ days. Have had encounters at 18 yards with a 170 7 year old buck. Another encounter a 25 yards with a nice 140s 8 pt and just two days ago had a low hit at a buck at 26 yards. Hoping to connect late season
I always carry less out of the woods than I carried in. Clear mind, heart, and soul. Showing my kids where food actually comes from and the only viable way provide clean meat for ourselves is incredibly rewarding.
I just got a bow, it was a complete package for only $25, how do i remove the suction cups off the arrows to put a razor on the end of the arrow? my sister went into my bedroom and i need to defend it.
So far I have a decent freezer queen shot with my lift 33. Not done yet though. I'm about the same age as MFJJ and I went to contacts for up close vision last year. I'd encourage that or glasses for that up-close stuff.
Being left handed, hardly any bow shops carry bows I want to try out. Is the Lift X the safest gamble for me? Smooth, forgiving and quiet are my priorities w/o giving up too much speed. 28" draw. The 29.5" or 33"?
The only deer I’ve got this year was with my 300h&h… the numbers in this state suck this year. I haven’t been able to get close with a bow… closest engagement has been 200 yards…
How often do you need to adjust cam lean after initial setup? I think they would have been better working on a timing system. I know I wouldn’t upgrade my lift for a lift x as my lean is set. Timing that is another story.
My only gripe with the sight is for 700… we shouldn’t have sticker tapes and you can still move it with 1 finger when it’s locked down. Why can’t we get real tapes for 700. Thoughts MFJJ?
Tagged out on Indiana Public. My wife dropped off my 5 year old boy, and he got to follow the bloodtrail on a dandy 10 point that weighed 250 pounds! Having my youngest boy along made it the best hunt of my life. Made a video and posted it on my channel.
Hey MFJJ, what sort of paper do you print your sight tapes on from precision cut? I've tried some label paper that you can peel and stick on, but one small drop of water pretty much ruins them.
Still working on getting my first deer! I've had opportunity with a rifle while being out hunting with friends but I want it to be with a bow. More rewarding and I'm just passionate about archery in general.

I want to share and educate bow hunters here is Australia
Keep it up mfjj 🤙
Of all the TAC’s last year, I enjoyed the IN/KY most. The courses were laid out awesome. Pretty difficult shots, and trails as well. I’ll for sure be going to IN/KY, and PA, but I’m hoping to make it to at least one more.
Please come to southeast tac! I know it’s not up to the views you are use to on tac’s but a lot of people would love to see y’all here!
Proud of my 5x5 elk this year! Eats good
I promise guys, I’m not a fanboy!! Comical at this point. 😂
Pennsylvania TAC is a good time. My buddies went last year said it was a blast. I'll hopefully make it this year
Close to $3000 with all accessories. That’s eye watering fellas. Dear lord.
Dont buy the accessories if you are worried about price
They all are
Building a Mathews bow in a Hoyt tee shirt. I am entertained.
It's EVERY TIME. Has to do it on purpose at this point.
I'd love to see a video or description on how adjusting the wheeling can help with broadhead tuning. Love the videos
Also shot my first elk this Oct in first rifle in Colorado.
The one in the upper peninsula of Michigan Wakefield was awesome!!!
TAC PA for sure should be on the list to mix it up. If you want to shoot a lot of video on the course, Vermont TAC is less hectic a location and usually falls on a long weekend.
I’m just curious why are the arrows blurred out 🤨🧐
Not for sure.. But I know Easton has a new arrow that’s coming out 1st of the year. Some guys have been testing them.
Easton 5.0 lower GPI…… Reviews already posted
What length is that stabilizer? 12” ?
Went elk hunting in colorado for first time this year! No shots, but saw elk and bear! Have been able to get a whitetail doe and buck at home so far, have 2 more tags still!
It’d be cool for you and Dan to come to Michigan tac at crystal mountain! Not crazy terrain like out west but still a fun shoot!
Would love to see you and the gang at Oklahoma TAC. but I’ll try to make the Tennessee TAC and visit your shop 🎯
What size stabilizer is that?
Hopefully replacement sight pin cartridges will be available in case you may want to change them out at some point
Are you going to do the video on broadhead tuning the lift x?
Does the wrist strap that you have work with the onnex hinge?
I hunted fifteen minutes this year and filled both my buck tags. One in five minutes and one in ten. Took my boys hunting for youth season, they are young, but one was able to maintain discipline and took a shot at a very nice ten point mature whitetail, but he got buck fever and shot under him. The other boy has room for improvement. Our freezer is full, but my bow rest got messed up. Got a new one on and need to retune now but no need to hunt anymore. I am thinking about a new bow this coming year to replace my VXR. What say you, @MFJJ? Worth the upgrade?
PA but Vermont could use you guys to increase the numbers. It’s an amazing place to shoot, just no big names go there 🤞🏻
San Antonio was a great tac last year!
I always love the sunlight mountain tac in colorado
I want to try south Dakota one year.
Maybe look at the mountain archery fest in purgatory colorado. I am going there this year just to see how it goes.
No luck on a mule deer this year, but did shoot a mid 150’s 9pt a couple weeks ago with my lift 33.
Any dramas with mounting the epsilon and the new "thumb" cutout in riser? Thanks.
I have a camo riser, the UA reaper camo and black limbs but love solid colors way mor. But i mustttt say. The Kuiu Verde looks sickkkkkk on a bow
Can you do a video of how to change strings and cables with the new cam system/ disassembly and re assembly. Thanks in advance
PA! Biggest one of the tour!
What offset or heo do you have on your arrows with your AAE hybrids? What are your length when you’re shooting broadheads or field points?
Helical
How often do you need to adjust cam lean after initial setup? I think they would have been better working on a timing system. I know I wouldn’t upgrade my lift for a lift x as my lean is set. Timing that is another story.
Oklahoma TAC, you and possibly Dudley being there would be awesome. Love the content
I was laughing at the comments and looked up and saw mfjj's face printed on top of the arrow he was shooting. This is my favorite day😂
My only gripe with the sight is for 700… we shouldn’t have sticker tapes and you can still move it with 1 finger when it’s locked down. Why can’t we get real tapes for 700. Thoughts MFJJ?
Someone's been watching Average Jack...
@ who’s that?
The 7 springs TAC is amazing
First archery deer will always be special even if it's not your first deer. Hope you can put some meat in the freezer this year either way!
Hoyt shirt and working on a mathews bow love it lol . 😂
Georgia TAC was a fun one! Would love to see y’all there
what is that laser called you put on the cams?
Looks like an older Spot Hogg laser alignment tool
