Levi I am 68 years old and shooting bow since I was 12 it is my passion I set up all of my bows myself and build my own arrows even at my age there is still so much to learn and watching you over the years I have learned so much more and I am so thankful thank you sir and god bless
I’m 68 and bought my first bow at 6, it’s my passion also to this day. I love learning and improving my shot, u tube has helped tremendously. I never got interested in working on my own bow but do make my own arrows. I shoot around 11,000 arrows a year, I shoot 50 a night year round inside or out after dinner. My first bow was an Indian green fiberglass recurve and have it to this day. Archery is my life and hunting. 🏹🏹🦌🏕️🏔️🦃
Lotta respect for just coming out and saying what's obvious rather than fanboying over how "new/awesome" this bow is. It's a Lift with a new tuning feature just like Levi said.
Levi, you make it look easy, ...of course, for a great shooter like you, that know precisely what is doing, is probably not very complicated. Congratulation and have a great hunting season. Roberto.
I’ve owned a lot of the Mathews target and hunting bows and I must say the Lift x 33 is by far my most favorite Mathews of all time. I can hold it for days!
Thanks Levi, I have struggled with pin low for some time, going to try your suggestion, looks like Mathew’s nocked it out of the park again, been shooting PSE my whole life until last year when the Lift came out, and just when I thought I had bought the best bow of my life they bettered it with that tuning system.
Definitely gonna try tweaking my knocking point. Glad you tossed that in this video, I have the same problem with my sight just wanting to naturally rest just below the center of the target. Awesome video man
Good evening Levi! Just watched your video on the Lift X. I have last years Lift and really like it. The 29.5 is perfect for saddle hunting. During this video you asked for someone to make a good lighted nock. I agree with that statement until a friend of mine recommended for me to try the CosiComu nocks of Amazon. I have been shooting the same 12 in my practice arrows for 6 months and they all still work and are super bright. Also I haven’t had any break. My draw is 28 inches and my weight is 71 pounds. My Altra arrows are 429 grains. I shoot at least 25-50 arrows a day 4-5 days a week. If you try them let us know what you think. I think you will be shocked on how durable and how bright they are. Thank you for being honest when you are reviewing this gear! I pray God continues to bless you and your family!
Love your collection of whitetail, try to get that many of Blacktail out west! Not many places to grow crops for deer out here!True Colombia blacktail in N California.💪🏻
Thank you for the setup info. Just wondering, how come you dont use the berger hole as a guide? Is it due to what you were saying about you finding your bows like to e a little nock high? And in theory, if you measured axle screw to axle screw, and placed your nock at the 1/2 way point, then moved it up roughly 1/16, would that accomplish the same thing? Sorry it makes more sense to me describing it like that. Thanks for the content
Thank you for tying in that peep!!! People missing an eye for not doing that! That was an incredible first and second 100 yd shot! Hey! The third was foam!
Great advice of some of your set up details. I was marveling at your 60 yard groups too until I happened to remember that almost everyone on ArcheryTalk shoots those same groups.
Levi you should let us see the arrow hit before cutting to the close up. It's satisfying to watch. Plus with the lighted nocks we can see pretty well on camera.
I bought two lifts this year and the new tuning system isn’t a real big deal for me so I’ll probably pass on this one. That said, I am curios about these limbs, with that tuning feature, going on my lift should I need to warranty the limbs I have. I’m sure they’re the same limb but, can I get a confirmation of that?
The reason you might not want to pull 80 pounds is potential injury. Shoulder injury, upper back injury, that might be a reason to pull 60. Just sayin. Your bow. Your choice. You're the man, so good luck man.
You put your knock in the loop on first before you put your peep sight in do you feel like that putting the pizza side in could honestly affect the knock position I've heard a lot of old heads talk about this
Well of course it is , “the quietest, smoothest, dead in the hand bow we have ever built.” Is that not there slogan every single year. Only to have charged a very minute thing, and clam it’s changed the entire industry. Levi has to agree, he really has no choice. $$$$$$$
Do you have anyone or any hookups that have a left-handed lift XD I'm 6'8 with a 33-inch draw length, and i think I'd have a better chance finding a unicorn at this point and it's also going to be my first bow ever just got into it, it's been rough finding bows
The best Matthew’s bow is my super old solo cam that hasn’t let me down yet. I still take more deer with it than all my broz with their new $2k tacticool bows.
Has anyone ever setup a chrono at 30 yards to see if a 545 grain arrow going 288 fps is actually going faster than a 500 grain arrow at 300 fps or seen at what distance if any, the lighter arrow starts to move slower?
I would re test your chrono numbers cause it should be much faster. My V3X with the exact same set up 80lb (don't ask) 31 inch draw (31.5 actual) with 545gr is 299fps on the same chronograph. 304fps with 535gr
No its not. The Switchback xt and Z7 are the best bows Mathews ever made. Who can afford all the Gen Z archery junk nowadays. Still kill deer every year in my old black sweat shirt and pair of old camo pants from the 90s with my tennis shoes on. Switchback gets it done every time. You guys keep on seeing who can pee the farthest.
Matthews has become a disappointing company, they left solo cam behind for the speed scene, don't understand why they can't make both, these 2 cam bows with short brace heights will never be as smooth and shootable, I'm just disappointed they didn't release a updated switchback for the 20 year anniversary, been shooting mine since it came out, guess I'll have to look at the bear hunting public bow as it's the only solo cam I see on the market
"...these 2 cam bows with short brace heights will never be as smooth and shootable..." BRO! Jeff Hopkins, Levi, and more pros were winning in the most competitive 3d competitions in the world with Mathews longer ata hunting bows.
They actually move the limb not the cam like Bowtech. Same idea just different parts moving. Mathews didn't want Bowtech to sue them like they did Bowtech a few years ago. All the manufacturers copy each other's ideas they just put a little different spin on it. Great for the consumers, I just wish they didn't try to rob the consumer when they only make incremental changes from one year to the next. I'm glad I only change bows about every six or seven years.
@@sammyhughes6769 Honestly I find the archery "community" getting slightly greedy in what they expect from manufacturers year to year. It seems they want a completely new bow with new tech and the companies to knock it out of the park year after year. It doesn't seem to be quite that way with other things. Many rifles are the exact same as they were decades ago and people have no issue. I do believe bows are reaching a point where they will plateau now since the technology limits are being reached. Its going to get very gimmicky if people can't start to accept some very small incremental changes each year and be happy with it. I don't know... maybe I am wrong... its just my take on things after reading so many comments with such high expectations I guess. I think all the companies are making phenomenal bows right now and you honestly cant go wrong with any one of them. Bow technology has come a long ways in the last 10 years with dual cams becoming the norm and companies making them reliable, tunable, and shootable... So, I feel we are at the point of a technological plateau from what can be pulled out of a stick and strings, lol. I am more than happy with current bow technology... Heck, my 2018 PSE evolve still shoots with the new bows and my TRX target bows are more accurate than I could ever be.
Not a huge fan of the new tuning option. I mean if you a pro and a great bow tune it's awsome but for your an average shooter they have no clue how to tune a bow anyway so its not going to help
Good thing we’re on TH-cam and the internet in general. Where you can learn quite literally anything you’d like. If you’re gonna be in the sport might as well educate yourself and know everything you can.

Lotta respect for just coming out and saying what's obvious rather than fanboying over how "new/awesome" this bow is. It's a Lift with a new tuning feature just like Levi said.
That's exactly what it is,with 5 year old technology that other bows use , for the price it should have been on there last year.
Levi, you make it look easy, ...of course, for a great shooter like you, that know precisely what is doing, is probably not very complicated. Congratulation and have a great hunting season.
Roberto.
Very good stuff right there an thanks for the tip on helping maybe fix the dreaded low pin holding problem, besides a touch of target panic
I’ve owned a lot of the Mathews target and hunting bows and I must say the Lift x 33 is by far my most favorite Mathews of all time. I can hold it for days!
Halo nocks have always done me right. Even with 4mm they light up everytime. Great video man! Love watching.
Agreed. But noticeably dimmer then nockturnals.
Had some durability issues with the 4mm Halos, but not the 5mm. Shot two elk this year with BE X-Impacts and the 4mm Halis blew up on both.

Awesome job Levi. Thanks for good videos. Don’t forget the modules BOOM

Heyyyy a Sportsman's Refuge reference! They're a great family down there. Always a pleasure.

The goat Levi Morgan awesome bow brother great video
I’d love to spend a day in the shop and on the range with you . Great video as always
Love your videos and bow builds

I just wish I could have one of those rest!😂 seriously though. This whole set up is absolutely amazing! One day.
Awesome bow Review can’t wait to try one out myself!

There are some Facebook groups where that group would be to big 🤣🤣🤣
Great Video thanks of the content buddy!
Pretty incredible shooting, man.
Obviously, you're known for it, but none the less, that was impressive.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Can you do a video on your arrow builds please!
LIT nocks by flex fletch, super consistent for me this year
Agreed, SOMEONE MAKE A GOOD LIGHTED NOCK!!!
Couldn’t agree more. Bought 15 halos and maybe 2 worked after a week of shooting. Pretty disappointed!
Never have a problem with Halo nocks
Levi you should let us see the arrow hit before cutting to the close up. It's satisfying to watch. Plus with the lighted nocks we can see pretty well on camera.
Agree with ‘good lighted nock’ for .166. John Dudley’s got a lot of info on lighted nocks and that’s half the reason he prefer’s .204.
What color is that riser is that the green or brown I can’t quite tell but I love it
What riser color is that? Hard to tell on camera. Is it ambush or shale?
I bought two lifts this year and the new tuning system isn’t a real big deal for me so I’ll probably pass on this one. Well there’s a tip I’ve always set the peep in the archery shop in the back room I’m thinking that’s 10 yards tops!
The reason you might not want to pull 80 pounds is potential injury. Shoulder injury, upper back injury, that might be a reason to pull 60. Just sayin. Your bow. Your choice. You're the man, so good luck man.
What do you think that little vibration noise was coming from and add a couple cable twist for 300fps
When raising the nocking point, does you then raise the arrow rest to level the arrow?
You put your knock in the loop on first before you put your peep sight in do you feel like that putting the pizza side in could honestly affect the knock position I've heard a lot of old heads talk about this
Can’t wait for this!!
Can you talk Tim Gillingham into reviewing the Lift XD?
What paper tuner is that ? I need that simple setup
How do i find those TAC Vanes on those arrows? or the TAC Vanes sold separately but i can not find them anywhere
What hinge release is that? Scott Select?
What specific d loop material are you using, I use BCY 23 with spectra coating, is that what you are using
How far are u shooting to paper tune and chronograph
How do you find a number of sight tape for a 5 pin axcel sight
Doesn't putting your peep sight in change the tension on the string so dead center would not have equal tension from the top and bottom
What sight do you have in that bow Levi ?
Every year it’s the best Mathews bow….Hoyt, bowtech,Pse,…they all do it…
Halos! Stay lit and durable.
What's your let-off?
Have you tried the Halo .166 lighted nocks?
what kind of arrows are those?
Try firenock best lighted nocks I've used.
What release is that?
Anyone know how he got a lanyard of that Scott select release?
Most people set their nock so the arrow is 90 deg to the string. Interesting that you do a sixteenth above center of the string.
he sets it 1/16 above center of axle to axle, his arrow is still 90 of the string. That's how I understood it anyhow, could be wrong.

It's like a v3x. They just add more rubber an a x in the name lol

Elkshape has a video of him building a site tape using lab radar, which picks up arrow speed at distance. Might answer your question
its going to be very close either way. A low 500's arrow for elk is the sweet spot in my opinion
That heavy of an arrow at 288 is still insane. What’s your DL?
he said 31"
I would re test your chrono numbers cause it should be much faster. My V3X with the exact same set up 80lb (don't ask) 31 inch draw (31.5 actual) with 545gr is 299fps on the same chronograph. 304fps with 535gr
