    I've struck a snag with my crank shaft bolt being stuck on. Attempted a number of methods to get it off, but suspecting that the last person to do it used thread lock on it. Just wish that it would come off like everyone else's as now I've got a new bolt on order and having to get it replaced at a shop with more gears than most DIY's.... Even the strongest rattle gun couldn't get it off, just ended up rounding it grrr... My lesson to share is that I (attempted) this first before taking out the alternator, dogbone engine mount etc, saving a lot of work putting all that back together to still have a running car.

      Oh no bro that’s a bummer!! Sometimes heat, or a welder are your best friend with stuck bolts. Although there on the crankshaft pulley you run the risk of blowing out seals when you use heat. Not a good situation at all my friend I wish you luck!

    So what caused the knocking chugging noise in the 1st place? Bad head gasket or bad timing belt?

    • @pnwvibe3123
      @pnwvibe3123  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never heard it myself it’s just the info that was relayed to me, but based on how the timing belt was shredded I’d say that was what caused most of the noise. If they skip one or more teeth the engine is gonna run like crap and sound horrible if it runs at all

    Hello, do you happen to know if these engines are time interference?

  • @aztec8870

    what do i do if the timing marks dont line up, is it ok to turn them one at a time with the belt off so they line up ?

    • @pnwvibe3123
      @pnwvibe3123  ปีที่แล้ว

      Like turn the cam gear without spinning the crank or vise versa?

    • @pnwvibe3123
      @pnwvibe3123  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can do that^ but just be careful if you ever feel resistance don’t crank on it you could bend a valve against the piston. If the spark plugs are out of the engine (which they should be) it should be pretty easy to spin the crank or the cams. Aside from the spring tension you’ll feel from the valve springs when rotating the cam. But long story short yes you will have to spin the crank or the cam separately with the belt off in order to get the gears to all line up when you slip the belt back on just be mindful that the valves can contact the pistons

      @@pnwvibe3123 also the 5sfe engine is non-interference so the chances of me damaging the valve with the piston is low right ? or no, sorry for the questions my knowledge on car repair is low and im still learning
