I have experienced free public transport in Denver and Salt Lake City in the US but that free transportation is limited only with in the down town area. Once that area is crossed it becomes chargeable.

It is also a financial center and a lot of people commute from neighboring countries to work there as the salaries are high. The second time I went there, we visited the historic German city of Trier which is only about 30 miles from Luxemburg.
