Argo would have loved it but he would have wanted to play with all of the dogs. Those dogs were working and the last thing they need is some very friendly red dog trying to distract them :)
This is a bit west of the Tahquamenon falls area, near Muskellunge State park north of Newberry. It was a lot of fun and I'm very glad the weather stopped when the race started. Made my job much easier, not having to contend with blowing snow and all of that :)
Hi Cody, Back in the Day, and I remember when the Dog Sled Races, used to be in Newberry in the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. The, weather down here in Detroit and we are having a Cold Advisory 🥶 in Detroit. The, temperature 🌡 is 6 Degrees, with a Wind Chill of 13 Degrees below Zero. I,hardly any Snow ❄️ to Move, and I still see 👀 Green Lawns and I, have been Salting the Sidewalk and Driveway, and I went through 4, 25 Lb. Bags of Rock Salt. Stay Warm and Stay Safe. 7:41
Wow, that is a lot of salt! We had a very cold morning today, -6 with a breeze that pushed the Windchill to -25. That is the coldest windchill I've experienced thus far in my life and I can't say I want to beat that personal record :). This sled dog race was north of Newberry, near Muskellunge Lake State park. They canceled it the previous two years due to lack of snow but that certainly wasn't an issue this year! I've also heard of a sled dog race they used to have down in Kinross but it hasn't been around for some time now.
Back in the Day, when I took Greyhound Bus 🚌 from Detroit to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. After, when Greyhound left the, St.Ignace Bus Station, and Greyhound would stop at Rudyard, and Kinross, before Arriving in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. Sault Ste Marie, Ontario was the end of the Detroit-Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Route. 7:35
I enjoyed your video it was really nice I don't know what the temperature you got up there put down here where I live in Allen Michigan it's supposed to get down to 2025 below windshield
Well, that's driving into the abyss! Bet that got unnerving after awhile. But sure made for great mushing conditions! Those dogs are amazing! Highly skilled athletes & they just thrive. I'm sure quite a few of the competitors you have there probably come out here to the Iditarod & Canada, even in Siberia & Europe. They have a circuit kinda like race car drivers. Hope you enjoyed the dogs & festivities. When you got home I'll bet Argo was very busy checking out all the new scents. 🐶🐕🦮🐕🦺🛷🌨❄☃🌲🌲
The drive was very unnerving, just driving into white and black. At one point these taillights just appeared out of nowhere, so we were going even slower then because I was not about to try to pass in those conditions! The sled dog race was fun, there is a much bigger race next month that I am also hoping to volunteer at as well.
Good Video Cody!
❤
How great you volunteered for this. Looks beautiful. Argo would have loved it. The Alaska Iditarod (sp) lives in Michigan!

That looks like a great time! Never knew they had dogs led races at Tequamenon.

It was!
I bet the drive up there was quite the trip. Looks like it was a hectic but fun morning. Nice video and great of you to volunteer 😊
It was definitely a hectic day but worth every minute! I finally saw a reason that I might, eventually, maybe need a snowmobile :)
