      I noticed that meat such as chicken, turkey, or fish were not on your healthy food lists! Those are important proteins to get in, especially if you strength train! Also, doing HIIT before weights does have different results than doing weights before HIIT. Otherwise, I really enjoyed these tips! I was able to lose weight, gain muscle, and actually be motivated enough to work out consistently for the past 10 months when I had certain goals and wanted to be healthy instead of before when all I wanted to be was "skinny." Thanks for sharing your weight loss journey with us! :)

    • @anyamckercher2408
      @anyamckercher2408 6 ปีที่แล้ว +126

      Try to find something that you can maintain and, if it
      helps, work towards it in little steps. You aren't going to wake up one day and eat completely differently for the rest of your life. Just try to eat better from meal to meal and generally make small good decisions. Things like halving the carbs or grabbing another serving of veg will add up in the long run and help avoid binging compared to trying a whole new meal plan.

      @user-zh2cx9vv2s 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I feel you. My weight has stayed the same for months even though I try so hard.
      You have to be positive no matter what. Look back on how you looked/felt/weighed when you started.
      Also don't focus on the numbers. You can check your weight regularly but you should focus on getting healthier, being fitter and looking different.
      We'll overcome this, don't give up. If you just binge and stop trying you'll set yourself back so far.

    yes! muscle burns calories! the more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism is! strength training is so essential for maintanence, everyone is so scared of getting "bulky" but it all depends on how you train!

      I’ve heard that females don’t even have to worry about getting bulky since they don’t have as much testosterone as men. The ones that are bulky take supplements in order to gain that body type. But I guess that it does depend on the person’s body, their genes, and what they’re doing.

    three quick tips that really helped me!
    1) no added sugar or refined carbs on Mondays and Wednesdays! those are my busiest days usually with non-friend activities so it's easier to commit to those two days sugar free. if I do end up eating sugar on those days, I'll move my no-sugar days to Tuesdays or Thursdays, etc.
    2) the days that I don't workout, I aim to walk at least 10,000 steps. I live in NYC so it's a bit easier for me, but I'll go on a longer walk during work if I know I'm not exercising that day.
    3) If I feel like binge eating, I'll roast a ton of my favorite veggies and eat them until I can't eat anymore! Brussels sprouts and broccoli coated in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic salt, roast for 30min at 400 degrees F. yummiest things ever.

    As a yoga teacher, I can tell you the number one thing to help you lose weight, and it is something you don't really hear from anyone-breathe. Try to match each movement of your mind and body to your breath, and I don't mean just in work put. If you think you're hungry but you know you're not, focus on your breath. If you need to move but you don't want to, match your breath to your movements. Take a deep breath in, deep breath out as you stand, and continue to match your breath to your movements as you do whatever it is your doing. Being conscious of the breath in these ways anchors your mind to your body and does help you lose weight. Just remember: when in doubt, breathe it out.

    Breakfast being the most important meal of the day has been debunked. It was a marketing line used to sell Kellogg's cereal and other breakfast foods way back when. Research has shown there is no harm to the body if you skip breakfast and likewise, there isn't any extra benefit if you do eat breakfast. In terms of weight loss, again, skipping breakfast (or having it) has not appreciable effect on body weight (given you eat a reasonable amount and type of food for the rest of the day). So basically, do whatever is right for you and your body...if you can't eat in the morning and you function fine, then breakfast isn't necessary. However, if you just can't last until lunch and find yourself feeling out of sorts until you get nourishment, then by all means eat breakfast. Find out what works for you and do it!

    • @vp3841
      @vp3841 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      So ironic how Kellogg's is inventing "healthy" rules, considering how most cereal is just a pile of sugar and empty carbs that has to be literally sprinkled with nutrients 😂

      Finally I found someone that knows that not everyone is the same. My cousin's daughter doesn't have to have breakfast everyday while I go a while after waking up and feel light headed if I don't eat breakfast.

    I feel like with weight loss, the most important is is motivation and being strong mentally to continue doing it. It's so easy to fa into cravings. I was starting so many times so I know how it is. Anyhow, I'm back at it again. Started today. I hope by next year, this time I will achieve the look I'm dreaming of x

    This past summer I also lost 15 pounds and a majority of the changes/rules you talked about completely fits the way I lost weight too! (I was more strict with my diet; however, keep in mind I lost the weight in about 3-4 months, compared to a year). I love what you said about finding the right reason to lose weight. For me, I started because I was in this really unhappy, post-breakup, negative place and I thought that by losing weight, I could become more attractive and therefore happier. This really wasn't effective for motivating me to stick to the diet. Once I started focusing more on making positive changes to my body, rather than the number on the scale, it was CRAZY how quickly I was losing weight.
    But it wasn't just about losing weight anymore. I could see my body toning up and gaining muscle. Every time I would go for a run, my body felt stronger. I became more driven, more positive, and most importantly, more encouraging/loving towards myself!! Now, my lifestyle has changed. When I put good, clean food into my body, I feel good. I love knowing every ingredient I feed myself. Working out makes me so energized. When I feel sluggish, I realize it's whenever I haven't had time to go for a run or had too much junk food. Truly when you put your energy and focus into making positive lifestyle changes, the results you want will follow!!

      Hi cn i ask how often did u weigh urself during ur diet?

    • @snowpandalovemusic
      @snowpandalovemusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I weighed myself once a week in the beginning; then by the 3rd month, I was weighing myself every few days or so. My diet was mostly fish/chicken, lots and lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, nuts, granola, yogurt, dried fruits, baked potatoes/sweet potatoes. I didn't add sugar/salt/sauces/etc. to flavor my foods, I cut out dairy and simple carbs (rice, bread, noodles, etc.), and never had drinks other then water, green tea, and sometimes fruit smoothies (fresh fruits, a little honey). Also tried to do an 1 - 1.5 hours of exercise 4-6 times a week!
      It sounds like a lot, but if you implement these changes little by little over time, it makes it much easier to build it into your lifestyle and maintain the changes, rather than struggle and end up giving up after a short time.

    I feel like a major reason you're so inspiring is because although you are goals for so many girls: an internet celebrity and incredibly beautiful, successful, etc, you have never not been honest about how you got there. You remind us that theres always highs and lows, and that every single day you still struggle with the same exact things the rest of us do, probably even more. You're humble and down to earth and in touch with your humanity and it always rings true in your videos. I really appreciate what it does for me and all the people that watch your content[':

    I just had a major leg surgery to try and correct my knee which keeps dislocating. I've had surgery before and my horrible knee has massively restricted the physical activity I feel comfortable and safe doing. I've found a motivation to get stronger, fitter, and more stable in my last surgery - they had to use a donor's ligaments to reconstruct some of the knee. I don't want somebody to have donated their body to helping others just for me to then be lazy and let my body stay weak and fragile. I'll get myself healthy to honour the incredible person who chose to be a donor 💖💪

    I love how honest you are with your fans and you don't try to hide things like superficial motivations or letting stress take over etc because it's human and something we all face! That was really cool and such a big reason as to why you're my number 1 youTuber! :-)

      From someone who started her fitness journey around the same age I'd say start slow. Don't work out so hard you can barely walk the next day. Give your body time to get used to the exercise. The first week will be hard, but you should be able to still breathe without being in pain. I actually worked out so hard I had to see a doctor for my joints. Obviously not trying to tell you what to do haha just some suggestions. Good luck and lots lots lots of health for you!

      I’m 17 I used to weigh about 190 to almost 200, and the doctor said I was overweight, but I wasn’t that bad because I was about 6 feet tall. But I lost weight and cut down to 170 by just eating healthy foods and taking small walk everyday/stretching. The foods I was mainly eating was less carbs and more veggies/protein. But also remember to be active everyday, now I take training more seriously. Mon-sat I would train and take Sundays off, but if you’re starting new to fitness just play sports or walk daily.
