Man I was just thinking the same thing, I was looking for another recording and stumbled across this (same audio, but hadn’t seen the performance). I am just in love with this song. When avey says “oh no, not now”, the whole thing is just beautiful. I hope they record it in studio, but this recording is one of my favs of all time either way.
You should’ve seen him night 2- he kept looking up at Deak before the harmonies and when they hit them DEAD ON he was grinning like a little kid. It was precious and amazing.
defeat is on banshee beat levels of goodness. Defeat is literally a fucking masterpiece holy shit. I CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR THE MASTER RECORDING FOR THIS SONG. To pick apart all the little intricacies of the song, all the little sounds layered within, I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
Beige Monk It will almost 100% definitely be a visual release. There were 2 nights, but 1 Show, at least 6 cameras set up, they all wore the same clothes both nights, the setlist was the same both nights, the venue is a non-profit so I’m SURE that 75-80% of the proceeds went to it because there’s NO WAY this place has EVER had 2 sold out nights in a row... so the boiz gotta make some money off it somehow! We will get a visual release of it. Bet. Meet me back here in this thread in December & see if you don’t own it. It was fucking phenomenal.
EWNP oh shit! well then! :3 That’s absolutely fabulous. Im glad to have been show brothers with you! I’m absolutely positive this will be their first official, live, visual release.
@@basielu The studio version just isn’t nearly as good. I don’t know why they decided to make it so much slower for the album. But live versions are always going to sound better. I did hear it in person last year and I still really like it.
how tf these boys gonna make these one off songs all of a sudden that are better than the majority of anything they've recorded in the studio since FBK and NOT RELEASE A STUDIO VERSION
I haven’t listen to a single song off of it yet, but I’m excited. There was a compilation of live stuff on TH-cam a month back that has reworked version of at least 1 of these songs.
postaffe Thats because it was a site specific show. This material had never been played before and will likely never be played again. The venue itself was a centerpiece to the whole thing. It’s hard to explain without having been there, which is why I am positive that this will be their first official live audiovisual release. It’s just gonna take some time. I have some videos of the performance of my own if you would like to see them. Most of them aren’t focused on the band like this, because the ENTIRE venue was set up to be a visual accompaniment. PM me if you want those. :)
he and Avey wore jumpsuits during the Centipede Hz tour.... i guess Deakin just likes em. Avey's was blue and Deakin's was white tho, orange is an interesting colour choice..... but i guess he just likes jumpsuits
Defeat is one of the greatest songs Animal Collective has made.
thisisnotandrew (A Not Suite) ❤️
it's like the song alvin row combined with the entire albums feels and mpp
@@darualid I was thinking the absolute same thing. MPP meets Feels. I can't believe they are still this great.
Long live AC!
I 100% agree. Hope they record it in studio, I’d love to hear some more versions of it.
Looks like deak just escaped prison
I listen to this almost every day. Defeat is just stunningly beautiful, one of the best songs they've ever done.

Oh shit is Avey playing bass on tri kid? That's some shit..and deak on piano for defeat, these guys can do anything they want
Thank you for dedicating your night to documenting this experience so that all of us who couldn't travel for the show got to also experience it!
Avey looks so happy during "Magicians from Baltomore"
You should’ve seen him night 2- he kept looking up at Deak before the harmonies and when they hit them DEAD ON he was grinning like a little kid. It was precious and amazing.
Wow....Defeat has come such a long way since this show.
I like this version better tbh
This is definitely the best version
It was way better at this show
Defeat is unbelievable

This is better than there past two albums by a lot love ac hope they release this stuff on vinyl or anything!
absolutely incredible set, prester is one of the best things they've ever written, you're doing the world a favor for recording this

Brandon Gibson someone took the set list out of Avey’s notebook after the show and posted it. I just transposed it

EWNP who would take that, from Avey, man?!

Sundown With Cecil sounds like some damn Godspeed You! Black Emperor, seriously. I LOVE it
Anyone know if this is going to make it to an album?
isn't it noooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwww...DEFEAT...oh no not now
ISN'T IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Prester John sounds like a magick ritual
This live version of Defeat is so damn good. I feel like it would be tough to top it with an official studio recording.
what do you think of the studio version? :3 i also prefer the live versions

Maybe! I honestly have 0 idea
Ayo so how about that Time Skiffs

This is fucking dank. Thank you!
Just finished, feeling very emotional.
Unbelievable
Is it... "Down, Down" or "Downtown"?
Jordan Randall down down
DownDownDownDown
Brahbrah, not Barbara.
Maybe a dumb question, but are these new AC songs or if not, what?
jen rickert indeed new songs! They wrote them specifically for the venue
LOL
This was without Panda Bear?
CerealDefender yes. He is touring right now
Yes. It was honestly a refreshing new take on Animal Collective.
A day without the homiez
Does this have anything to do with tangerine reef????
El Muertho No
I feel like it does though.. I've never heard these tracks from any of them before

Play_ Dead72 iPhone 8
Dat new Panic Blooms yall
It's so incredible
Ok iam not imagining anything Deakin is wearing an orange jumpsuit correct? Is this a reference to Brockhampton at all?
why would it? just because a member of that group is in public trouble? i doubt brockhampton is on the radar of animal collective tbh
Joe Lendabarker you never know
he and Avey wore jumpsuits during the Centipede Hz tour.... i guess Deakin just likes em. Avey's was blue and Deakin's was white tho, orange is an interesting colour choice..... but i guess he just likes jumpsuits
