@@smoli this is fair, but i can't help but prefer what they were doing here with the track, and i'd also probably like it more if they just generally went deeper into this direction. as good as a lot of their newer stuff sounds it is maybe the most plain they've ever come off and i am wanting a bit more in eccentricity
Seeing this live twice will change your life. Thank you Avey, Deakin, Geologist, Panda. I hope I die before you guys because I cant live in a world without you.
They just played this live at Columbus last night and jammed it for closer to 20 min I think. I lost sense of time during it so I couldn’t tell but damn it was magical live.
I saw this in Chicago and I remember the whole time trying to memorize the lyrics so I could find out what the hell this song is. One of the most beautiful performances I've ever seen.
First song I'm pretty sure I'll have uncurable demoitis of. 04:30 is beautiful. If the album version manages to capture this middle section the way it came out in this performance, it''ll be a miracle.
@@masonbhunter First, thanks for the heads up, I didn't know this was released. Beautiful track, thank you, God. Thank you, God. Finally, God. Song is worth crying over, I hope it gives long time fans something, too. Praise for the underdog (that was you)
Good news... They played this last night for their newest tour so it's pretty much set in stone it's going to be on their next album. Here's the link if you wanna hear the newest version - th-cam.com/video/Cmq9p_wz6KE/w-d-xo.html
@@众𠈌BRĪÅN𠈌众 Bridge to Quiet is amazing! Definitely top tier music for these guys' discography, and a very beautiful contrast/new direction. It inspired them to work on new material. So either we'll get purely new material for the next one and Defeat will come later, or it'll be a mix of new material plus Defeat, or something else I can't predict.
Getting medieval festival vibes from these unreleased cuts. Even got a song called Dragon Slayer. Are Anco bout to coin a new genre of psychedelic-medieval-jazz-rock? From Meow Wolf to your local Rennaissance Festivals nobody knows what they're gonna do next.
It’s funny seeing this, due to time skiffs coming out around the same time as Elden Ring and me listening and playing them both around the same time I always kinda thought they both went together kinda well due to their theming. And it’s totally due to what your saying. Time skiffs does give off a medieval festival vibes.
Have you heard Bridge to Quiet? I've never heard Avey so lost, cold, shivery, desperately sad, etc. than in Rain in Cups, and the whole journey to the last song (the Bridge to Quiet if you will, hehe) is beautiful and wholesome, and at the same time deeply bizarre. Listen on good headphones at your loudest comfortable volume if you didn't catch it fully otherwise. I personally loved Centipede and Painting With though. I think they're perfect for what they are, just like all their other projects. My only wish is that they made Honeycomb/Gotham into an album. I personally would have preferred an album in that vein and a shorter project in Centipede's vein, but I'm grateful they exist at all. These guys changed my life and my whole perspective of music.

this is so so much better than the studio version, less drawn out and more ornate. grand sprawling jazz baroque opus

The middle section is so much better here, can’t believe how much they nerfed it in the studio version
hope it will get official release (part of the concert already did)
I love the released version personally and I think it's a classic song from their discography already

might be their greatest song. idk yet
dendy one of them atleast my dude
It's definitely up there with tracks like Safer
I really need them to record this song and put it on an album or ep
...and couple years later they did and the studio version is amazing!

That part kind of reminds me of Graze with how the song transforms to a new section and the panflute comes in (in Graze, not this).
Animal Collective eats and shits miracles for breakfast! Hahaha
well what do you think now that the recording is out?

They played this tonight in Chicago. Had to look it up and here’s where I ended up.
I just saw them in detroit and the new version is even better im dying for a more recent upload
Parts of this remind me of Song for Jerome from Aveys solo tour in 2011. Probably my favorite song by him. And it was never, ever, released.

Thanks Ben!!!
Whoa
I hope they release this before we all die in a nuclear war
Holy Shit. This is epic and beautiful.
Unfortunate this wont be on time skiffs but still excited for the new album nonetheless
In a way it's a really good thing. Time skiffs was recorded remotely because of covid. This song will likely be recorded without those limitations.
They just released an official version
Grand song, it takes a couple of hearings to click but when it does maan
