  • Vision therapy is not cheap, so naturally, people are always looking for a way to do it themselves. Some of us are just built that way. "How can I do this myself instead of paying someone else?"
    In this video I go into the details of what would be required to do your own therapy and why it's probably best to hire a professional.

    In my experience yes. Our vision doctor practically gave up on my child but we persevered and we used video games and virtual reality to exercise eye teaming everyday and I'm happy to say my child has gained control of eye teaming where the only time we ever see the eye turn is right before bed when very tired.

      Way to go! That is amazing! With complicated cases, it definitely takes determination from the patient too!

    Great analogy with the bridge foundations.

    I just want to drop by and say thank you for such quality content. I had my squint correction surgery last week and still recovering. I look forward to working hard to have my brain use both eyes together.

    I did get surgery and after surgery was told I probably have to have it redone in six years. So that came to be true but I no longer had the money to get that surgery again. So I've been doing my own therapy and it has worked brilliantly I could not find the book that was mentioned here and may be out of print

    If I’ve been playing Equal Eyes and have been experiencing improvements in depth perception, that I’m quite confident aren’t placebo, would this imply I’d be a good candidate for vision therapy?
    also, thank you so much for sharing everything, it’s been a true god send!

      Definitely! That is exciting that you are seeing improvements with Equal Eyes, it is a cool program!

    My biggest issue is that I simply can't afford vision therapy. Nothing nearby takes my insurance. So even if they exist - it doesn't do me any good.

      That's how it was for me too. You can do basic eye stretches and work on your peripheral to build a foundation while you save up for therapy. Some offices also offer payment plans and discounts based on need, it never hurts to ask.

    This is great. I have just booked my first Vision Therapy appointment. Do you have binocular vision now all day?

      That is really exciting! I do not have perfect vision, but I have amazing fusion, especially peripherally that is consistent all day. My central vision is still a bit murky and I will keep working on it. I have some special issues that make me a bit of a worst case scenario.

    Do you have a good idea what was leading you astray when you tried the DIY approach?
    I’m guessing the problem might have been using diplopia as ‘proof of work’-you know you’re using both eyes because you’re getting diplopia. Of course, that can lead you to reinforce diplopia, which can become a new barrier to stereopsis.
    I’ve experienced that dynamic. I’m not sure diplopia is necessarily a bad thing-though it certainly *can* be a problem. Using it as ‘proof of work’ doesn’t seem likely to work long-term, though. It might be useful as a bridge, but only so long as you can get off the bridge when appropriate…

      I actually have a video coming out soon about this exact topic! I was focusing everything on central fusion and was doing everything I could to wake up my lazy, amblyopic, eye. Because my brain had never used them together, having both eyes awake just created double vision. I needed to start where my brain was already using those eyes together.

      @@strabismustostereopsis7799 Thanks, I look forward to the video!
      Regarding peripheral vision-have you ever tried low light? When things are pretty dark, the resolution from your fovea isn't appreciably better than the rest of the retina. Changes the dynamics between central & peripheral substantially. Most peole don't spend much time looking at things in the dark, though.
      In the dark without glasses, I can occasionally get 'distance' (meaning, like, things 3-15 feet away) stereopsis even though my eyes are still around 10° / 20 diopters esotropic and only converge properly at distances in the < 1 foot range. I'm myopic, so without glasses there's a lot less visual information to handle... of course, visual information gets pretty simplified by being in the dark, too.

    Mam, my age is 20 now can i do squint surgery?

    • @strabismustostereopsis7799
      @strabismustostereopsis7799  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Strabismus surgery can happen at pretty much any age. It isn't always effective. It's better when combined with vision therapy. strabismussolutions.com/findvt/

    Yikes. I just checked a vision therapist near me. £700 an hour for an assessment. £350 an hour for vision therapy exercises. It might have to be the planks across the creek for me.

    • @strabismustostereopsis7799
      @strabismustostereopsis7799  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yikes, that is expensive. May still be worth the assessment and then do monthly instead of weekly appointments. That initial appointment can give you SO much information.
