Ford has replaced the competent but uninspiring Ka city car with the larger, more appealing Ka+. Being based on the current Fiesta ensures the Ford Ka+ is an enjoyable car to drive, while a relatively tall stance means it’s impressively practical, too. It’s just a shame its engine has to be worked quite hard to make progress and the interior isn't quite up to the standards of the Fiesta. But we can forgive it that, as it's costs very little to buy.

It's one of the closer ones. I remember when the car was launched and Ford was pronouncing it more like car than kaa. It's an Egyptian word for something or other. Saying KAY A is totally wrong but most people including Ford people ended up saying it like that in the end.
If i were in the market for a car in that class, this would be up high on the list of cars to check out. thanks for a great review. Seems like a good car for the money.

While Ecosport and KA+ gave more importance to basic motoring by allowing more room for passengers,more comfortable suspension, adequate boot for class, good mileage,moderately powerful power train, affordable price tag.

Just look at Skoda Fabia, VW Polo, etc, see they are smaller than Fiesta outside, specially length wise and wheelbase the Polo is smaller, but inside it has got more room, more air to be free, the Fiesta has longer wheel base and yet it feels tiny and it is tiny inside, the rear passengers are punished hard in Fiesta
There is a reason Y Polo is best selling super mini all over Europe, I am 100% sure, if Fiesta had at least legroom and back seat comfort to match a Polo, it would have been best sold European car, also check how Fiestas back seats are made, very poor under thigh support and seat contouring is pathetically straight, feels like 1 sits on a bench, while all other brands if they make a back seat, they do it well, with well contoured seats, good under thigh support, space under front seats to access more free foot room,
Ford KA+ has 1 uped Fiesta in that matter, thats why I think its a well thought car and a better CAR to own

I think it's a handsome little car. I guess it's just a bit too conservative for many people but I'd be happy to drive one.

I've had a Ka+ for a month. Its the tenth new Ford I have bought over the years. I think its a fantastic car for the price. The interior space and the ride quality are amazing. I would recommend it .

In India is offered with 1.5L diesel engine producing 100HP which does 0-100kmph in under 10sec. Why such shitty engines for UK?
It's a budget car!!! Jeez the snubby attitude here iws evident. A city car is exactly that, designed to trundle around the city.
Why compare a car to the one above is beyond me, a rather pointless and dismissive report once again- why do Ford give these any car to appraise is beyond me- stick a VW badge or some Korean mark on 9it and it'd be a very different view on things. I give this report a massive thumbes down.

Yes owned one, a 2013 Fiesta with 94 ps tdci, and still I say KA + Is better in terms of overall comfort than Fiesta

Ponygt 662 Fair enough, though the Fiesta is so much prettier, so much more desirable and so much better to drive, that the price difference is hardly worth it. People who give even half a damn about cars will be better off with the Fiesta. They serve different purposes in the end, though.
Plus, a Dacia Sandero does all that for less than the Ka+, and better too.

It is, at least, less of a fright to look at than a Viva or Celerio.
The styling is "a far cry from the original Ka" - so, good news there then. The original Ka is top of my list of the ugliest cars ever to darken our roads.

'Very good for the city car class and only ten litres less than the Fiesta', what a joke! They're always banging on about the Up trio and the i10's boot saying they're massive, the the Ka+ has the biggest boot, most interior space and don't forget, not other cars in the A-segment has a telescoping steering wheel. He clearly hates this brilliant little car. A biased review from an actually quite good reviewer
Definitely not a sporty hi-tec car but It is practical, roomy and economical enough for a car in it's class. I found it nippy enough around town for and day to day needs. It's comfortable, quiet to drive and cheap to insure too. Plenty of higher end alternatives to choose from but it ticks enough boxes for me.

Don't understand why you sound as if you're bringing up half a pint of phlegm in order to pronounce 'Ka'... it's really not that difficult.
No heated front screen, even as an option. Even the Mk1 Ka had that. Electric door mirror switches from a 1990s Escort and interior door handles from the 2002 Fiesta. Ford is really going downhill. The driving dynamics are being watered down across the range and now they're churning out bland tat like this, and crap tat like the EcoSport. As a Ford fan for years (and a current Focus owner), I don't see a desirable model in the range any more. They're all a bit meh

See the big reason is they are more PRACTICAL, see Fiesta has the worst back seats of any super mini, a car is a machine that should be able to haul 4 in good comfort and Fiesta is SHIT, its good for 2 people thats it, KA+ is way way way better,

My point is that for most of the last 20 years Fords have been the default choice for the keen driver who can't afford an expensive car - and, in the right trim level, also came with a heated front screen, something other manufacturers couldn't offer. Two unique selling points, and they were top of the sales charts, as the Fiesta and Focus still are.
As time has gone on though, the handling has become watered down, the build quality hasn't kept pace with rivals from the VW group, the warranties haven't kept pace with the likes of Hyundai and Kia, they're no cheaper than direct rivals and now the one remaining unique selling point, the heated screen, is being omitted from one of the models which used to have it. The new releases are bland They're on a downward spiral. Bland, meh models with no unique selling point at all. I'd have an i10 over this.
I miss fun fords there all miserable and default looking indeed, the original KA was funky and interesting, perfect for nipping around town, I've had 4 fiestas and two focuses, I've left Ford now I just find them a massive dissapointment!

Cariing only about ride and handling wont make a brand survive, One has to care for the passengers too and Ford is doing that inorder to stay in market for the long term benefits.
Old Fords had hydraulic steerimg, no emissions issue, no major safety bottlenecks, etc...
So engineers were free to make something smart and fun,
Nowadays its all about emission,small outside yet large inside,light electrical and less mechanical systems,
Its a phenomeneon that affects not just Ford but all other brands, heck even BMW has lost its BMW nature.
How about the RS?
I actually think this is one of the best looking cars in the class, it's a lot better looking than the Vauxhall Viva, Suzuki Celerio, Citroen C1 *shudders*, and arguably the Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto. I also think if this car was named as the new Hyundai i10, people would be singing its praises. Ford has faltered lately with the likes of the EcoSport, but overall is still a good car company if you overlook questionable auto gearboxes. Quality isn't the best, but neither is it in more highly regarded brands, Volkswagen for example, put so much effort into making a car refined as an experience, the mass seem to overlook the fact that their engineering is inferior in many ways. Fords however face up to the test of time, how many MK1 Focuses do you still see on the road today? A lot, they last. Fords cars don't lag behind any other manufacturer much at all, hence why they are so popular in the UK, people seem to get this syndrome where in the case of non-premium brands, they'll criticise the more popular option and praise the sort of "hippie" uncommon option, for example Hyundai.

its not exactly a small car though imo.. I have a 2001 ford ka as a cheap beater and its far smaller than this, its a shame people dont know how to build a compact car these days. Ive got a 1978 volvo 240 estate and its actually easier to dive than the Citroen ds3 i passed my test in, because it has nice big windows, no blind spots and its narrower (which is the most important dimension) TBH all modern cars are just disappointing

milosilic23 no you're right and that the difference between an iconic classic thats fun to drive, and yet another overweight ugly massive hatchback (new mini) I also think that its bs, my volvo has one of the strongest frames of any post-war production car, and it can take huge side impacts, one example, my friend drove into the SIDE of a volvo 740, the clio was a total write-off, but the volvo was barely dented, and drove home.
Modern cars are just inflated with plastic bollocks everywhere to gurth them out, very little frame strength
Samuel Brooks yeah haha nice, im going to be putting a b230ft (volvo 940 turbo engine) in mine, with stock internals and a manual boost controller you can make around 12psi and 200hp, upgrade the tiny turbo and get a decent set of fuel injectors and you are looking at 350hp on stock internals! because the 1991 onwards motors used 13mm thick conrods, very strong engine, my motor's got 300,000 miles on it right now :D

SRS Productions no, actually it was developed by Ford Brazil, launched in Brazil in 2014 as Ka (hatch) and Ka+ (sedan), and in India as Figo in 2015.

Makes a lot of sense. As a European I think cars for the Indian market look extremely ugly, and I never understood how Ford could be serious about this design.

Its cramped, its stiff riding, its back seat is pathetic, its boot is pathetic for its class, its bult quality is as cheap as the Ford KA+ too,
So Y do 1 pay more, if its just for the looks its OK, but if 1 thinks with brain, the KA+ is way better choice than crappy Fiesta

I think this is a good looking. Having conservative styling will make it age better like Volkswagens. I agree, the 1.0 liter Ecoboost should be in all Ka models.
Google Ecoboost reliability, it's a nightmare. We are now in 2024 and Ford have just admitted that fact.
What a let down, I have a mrk2 Ford KA diesel and it look great sporty looking but this 5 door is terrible and engine choices are terrible. Come on Ford get a 3 door version with a better engine

It looks.. aright, but it's a shame Ford didn't give it a different name and save the Ka alias for something more fun and inspiring! Like it or hate it, the first generation of Ka is a distinctive design and I reckon will be a proper cult classic in years to come (assuming they haven't all rusted away by then - Boy do those cars rust).

Took the 2006 fiesta and gave it a face-lift, iphone SE all over again.
Ford should have put the one litre at least the 99 horsepower engine it would have made a massive difference

Shivraj Parab look at the amount of people in the UK who use fiestas to do 20K a year plus. there is a market for small diesels yet a lot of companies don't do them.
DanWarrenTV . The Ford Ka plus is sold out here in India as the Figo in hatchback form and the Aspire in notchback form and we do get the 1.5 Tdci as well as a 110 PS, 1.5 lt NA petrol mated to a dual clutch transmission. So it is available as an option. Fear of cannibalization maybe?

Looks a lot better than the fussy, cluttered dash & high windows of the Fiesta. However, why this obsession with steering which has to adjust for reach? Has anybody been physically unable to drive a car without it? And what is all this "city car" crap? Aren't you allowed to drive it in rural areas or on motorways? Are you suggesting that we are all able to afford more than one car depending on where we want to drive? Don't even get started on the "budget car" garbage. if I'd just spent £9,000+ on this, only to be labelled a "pauper", I'd be insulted. Would you say the same to somebody who'd spent the same amount on a second hand BMW? :-D

Ford is selling in India with the name of Figo 2nd generation. I am using this car since 2016. Ford has released two version of car by petrol 1.2l and 1.5l Diesel. The Diesel engine give more power and milage comparetevely to petrol in this segment. In India it's value for money amongst other vendors in this segment of car. It has a advantage of pricise steering control to the Indian road, So obviously it would work good to the other countries. I have driven maximum speed of 180Kmph with out no discomfort.
It needs a 1.5 like the Mazda 2 forget 3 cylinder turbo engines!!!

So this gets a leather steering wheel but the new Hilux 2.8 GD-6 gets a plastic one..
Couldn't be any worse than the standard Ka which looks awful...possibly the oddest, narrowest car on our roads! Nice review again.

I test drove a 1.2 Zetec one of these recently.
It's quite nice to drive (and definitely reminded me of the Fiesta) but the engine is basically breathless out of town and I didn't feel hugely safe on a dual carriageway. There was an annoying flat spot where you put your foot down and nothing happened, which actually was quite worrying.
You have to really spend time with the engine to learn how to get the most out of it. They probably didn't use the Ecoboost because that would inflate the price and take sales away from the Fiesta.
Shame, because the rest of the car isn't all that bad. Nice boot and it's reasonably well specced, but the Fiesta is much better equipped and feels bigger on the inside.
Definitely not the worst car I've ever driven, but even at that price, I wasn't excited enough to just buy it. Not by a long shot.

This car in India equipped with 1.5 litre, 100hp diesel engine which is really fun to drive and gets 25km/l average economy. It reaches 100 km/h in 9 sec and top speed of 190km/h easily which I could do so far.
Unfortunately the European models don't have such good engines. I think Ford are worried about losing sales on the Fiesta if everyone bought this instead.

@@shainazali4395 we still have it 4 and a half years later and it’s been fantastic. It’s done 65,000 miles and has not broken down once and is very economical and it’s also surprisingly quiet and refined when on the move. Can’t fault it at all😁
