As much as I love how successful she was at Wimbledon, I’m still saddened to this day that she never won the singles trophy at my home slam - Australian Open. 😢
Unfortunately for her she ran in to Serena both times she made the finals. A lot of factors went against her. Ranging from injuries, Auto immune disease, her peak coinciding with Serena's peak in 2002-2003. When I see people use her not winning the Australia open and French open against her, I get kind of upset. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it

Venus sucked on slower surfaces. Made the semis or better at the FO only ONCE in 24 attempts. And we must not forget that until 2008 (her best years) the AO was played on the very slow ReboundAce surface. At the USO her last slam final was 22 years ago in 2022. Venus was a grass court specialist with 5 Wimbledon titles and 4 more finals. The 50s or 60s would have been her time when 3 slams were played on grass.
The problem is that final was anticlimatic. Marion Bartoli had no business being there and score showed it. Justine Henin should play in final. She would probably lose to Venus as she was extremely scared of Venus on grass, but we would have a proper final, not a very 1-sided final like we've had with Bartoli.
Her level from the 4th round was incredibly high. Her fore hand was so lethal. I don't think any of the all time greats on grass could have beaten her in this tournament including Serena. She was quite vulnerable in the 1st 3 rounds, but after that the rest is history.
True, the year before she was also very scrappy in the early rounds and lost to Jankovic (a tough draw) in round 3. Had she won that match I think she would have won the tournament that year also.

The semi final 2007 against Henin was insane, an incredible level. I have my doubts about Henin being a clean athlete though.

They both were executing shotmaking so well, but V was there to let Maria know that she knew she was ranked higher and having her moment but I have been here before and I came to win!
Venus established her dominance in this run! If it were not for Serena she would have won Wimbledon 2000-2003 and again from 2007-2009 and another time in 2005! That’s 8 Wimbledons!

Probably the most physically gifted WTA player we have seen - tall with long limbs, but super fast, powerful, flexible, and very good footwork when on. 400m would maybe be her discipline.
Venus Ebony Star Williams is a Goddess on grass! When she's injury free and in full flight, you have to throw everything at her including the kitchen sink to win a point lol.

When I watch over their games I noticed Serena was never happy when she lost against her sister Venus. To me she wasn’t happy for her because she probably thought she should have won instead of Venus.
Venus is so erratic and it’s nervous to watch her play at times. Her unforced errors erodes her game, she could be fast moving on the court but her ground strokes some can goes off and she lost her matches a lot of times because of her own unforced errors

Grunting and some of the shrieking has been commonplace for about 30 years now. Like it or not, it's a bit too late to make any meaningful changes around grunting.
