- Once again on this episode of The Lateral Line, this is a strictly land-based fishing mission. Watch as the boys tackle New Zealand's toughest fishing month - August.
This trip has them hopping from one land-based spot to another by boat, guided by Gene from Strictly Land-Based Fishing who's determined to hook them into some epic fishing encounters.
Despite the challenges, day one heats up as a few big hungry kingfish make an appearance. They circle the live baits until one is eaten. Day two starts strong, too, with some early catches, plus Hamish from NaCL Lures joins the action. But there's an obstacle - without a proper bag to keep them chilled, the boys are forced to release their hard-earned catches.
That's why a top-notch catch bag that will hold ice is now at the top of the wish list. With this gear, the boys will keep their catches super fresh ready to be taken home to be enjoyed, because the number one goal on The Lateral Line is simple: to get a feed of beautiful fresh fish on the table. My name is Teroy...I've been living in Aussie for 13 years being a dad to my aussie born son Eli...we watch your vids all the time, I get to show him the whenua, and a couple of down to earth good ol fashion kiwi boys, my fishing journey started out of the far north with my great grand daddy n grand mother in the very early 80s..n do a bit on the east cape when i get to come home...we are so lucky as kiwis cuz there aint no fish in brisbane..my boy caught his first fish off the Mount when he was 4...

Another great video! I can never get enough of the New Zealand coastline. I visited the country a couple of times during my working life which was mostly spent in the merchant navy and enjoyed walking the coastal areas and remote beaches but unfortunately didn't have enough time to check out the fishing. A return as a tourist is at the top of my wish list!

Another excellent trek BOYZZ! I can't get over the fact that is is the dead of winter in August! So weird. Here in California it is just coming on Fall, or as we say in San Francisco, Indian Summer, which is the most beautiful fishing weather of all.

I will give you a tip. When fishing with braid and you get a snag it will always brake on the reel. Have a leather wallet in your pocket wrap the braid around the wallet couple of times and pull it will always brake at the leader

End of the month yey yey! I cant fish due to surgery last week. Recovery just got a heck of a lot better.

Your not kidding about August being a hard month.
I have fished 2 different weekends Friday - Sunday the first stint I used 9kgs of burley and got 4 snapper and a kahawai
The second stint I used 6kg of burley 2kgs of squid and 2 Kgs of Pillys and got 3 snapper 😅
We had a rule once upon a time that said no filming fishing from mid July to mid October 😂 it’s always good fun trying though, and I really enjoy our go fishing twice a month and what ever happens it’s a show format 😁 chur chur for watching 😎
