@@marshawargo7238 I believe it's been going on since 2003. Sadly, Jousting wouldn't be possible, since horses are not permitted on the grounds. Ritual dueling is, however, a big part of the game, and sometimes you might find an enemy NPC champion calling you out for a one-on-one battle.
quick translation + context for "Feste der Vielfalt" and Tross: a "Tross" is the retinue of an army, meaning all the non-fighters travelling along them providing the necessary supporting duties like cooking, cleaning, mending etc. As in the story, the army travels to a certain spot on the continent to fight and it is not a stationary place every year, this field is called "Tross" instead of City or smth like that "Feste der Vielfalt" means "Fortress of Diversity/Variety". As the name suggests, it is a collective of characters from various different backgrounds.
I love how they just slowly backed away with the Marquis 😂 that must've felt so great for them! Also the drawing of the fighter riddled with arrows and knives was so funny, that poor guy really made the healers work. Great to see you had a wonderful time :)
I'm in Scotland and was resigned to never being able to go to an event like this as I thought they mostly took place in America. I'm so excited and inspired, I hope I'll see you in 2025!
Lucky for you, your neighbors in England have a really big one as well, called "Empire." Sadly, you are mistaken about LARPing in America; we doesn't actually have many big LARP events. Most cap out at a few hundred people. The biggest is the Pennsic Wars on the East Coast, and that's roughly the same attendance as Mythodea, albeit with far less emphasis on roleplay and far more focus put on the fighting, since it's run by an actual historical group, the "Society for Creative Anachronism."
Genuinely so funny to me the difference in long drives for north Americans vs Europeans. I'm in the middle of Canada and everyone here will drive 7 hours to the nearest big city for a weekend only. Long drives here are 12+ hours. Your adventures looked incredible! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for showing the world of LARP to everybody out there. I really enjoyed watching your adventures at Conquest. Do you even realize how amazing your little sketches are? The ones you used as payment? I wished I could have seen them up close. Stuff like that, that people recieve as little gifts during gameplay, are such amazing keepsakes. That is the true magic of LARP: people making others feel seen and cherished.
