Ditto to this. I feel like you are the only TH-camr anymore (that I subscribe to, anyway) that does reviews and tutorials and gives advice and critique. Don't get me wrong -- I love a good haul or collection video! But when I'm considering a new product for purchase, you'd better believe I think "hmmmm, I wonder if Emily has a review for this." :)
+Elizabeth Anne I love Emily too! You should check out Tati (glamlifeguru) if you like watching "useful" makeup videos. She does reviews and tutorials with high end and drugstore products and she's super fun :)
I'm loving the fact that you are reaching so many people and letting them know it's ok to buy inexpensive brushes! Alot of them are great quality and the best thing about "drugstore" brushes is that they go on sale AND sometimes there are coupons so you really can save alot instead of feeling like you have to spend $150 on a brush set. Also always always check out Amazon and the reviews on sets. My friend got a great synthetic kabuki face set for $10! She said the brushes were so similar to her Sigma and Sedona lace brushes. I have so many brushes and 75% of the time my favorite ones are the no name ones!
Just an FYI - on Target’s website - Up & Up are buy one, get one 50% AND buy one Up & Up, get 2nd for 25% off.. so for 2 of the complexion set - it comes out to be $16.50ish.. You can get free shipping over $25 OR select in-store pickup (for free).. TY for the video, Emily!
Emily, you are 100% absolutely my FAVE beauty guru on TH-cam! I just have one request: I would love to see you do more makeup tutorials. I love all of your videos so much and I find them so helpful and informative. But I also LOVE the way you apply makeup and it seems to me that you don't post regular tutorials or getting ready style videos as much. I would love to see more of them because your way of applying makeup is so gorgeous yet easy! Thank you!
Emily is such a natural beauty. I love that there is not such a dramatic difference with her before and after makeup look cuz she looks just as good w/o makeup
Im in love with the complexion brush! Iv'e recently bought the Tarte amazonian clay powder foundation and saw that it came with an airbukki that cost 26$!!! After hearing your review and checking out the brush and seeing that the brushes were similar in size and density, i bought the brush and IT WORKS LIKE A DREAM! The brush fits perfectly in the mesh net and gives the most beautiful airbrushed coverage just like the airbukki! Bottom line- this brush is amazing for applying not only liquids, but powders too! Incredible! Thank you Em! You're the best!❤️❤️❤️
You probably have the must unique but useful videos on the Internet😍 I love how detailed and informative your reviews are without being boring☺️ you're probably my favorite TH-camr☺️
You are the one who got me hooked on that darn complexion brush, I literally use it every single day!! Great video now I need to purchase more of their brushes lol.
Whenever I'm in the makeup aisles of the drugstore and I see a product I'm not sure of, I always pull up your channel because I know you would have reviewed it!
Priscilla V It's just the Rite Aid store brand, it's called Renewal.. I'd give you a link but unfortunately they are not sold on the website (at least not that I can find). Here is a link to an older post that has photos of the packaging for reference. There is a large powder brush (haven't tried that one), an angled blush brush (I love that one for contour, it's not very dense and just the right size), a flat/fluffy lid brush, a smudger (adore, it's wider and fluffier than most but still dense.. really smudges out softly), a crease/blender brush (also adore).. and there may be a couple more I can't recall. I'm thinking either an angle or a brow brush/comb. The bristles are very soft, the construction is great quality, and the handles have that "nars" matte slightly rubbery finish. The Rite Aid brand goes on sale pretty frequently too.
I tried so many foundation brushes, from the cheapest to most expensive, and not one have ever worked for me. I always end up with an uneven and streaky application, so I rely on my Beauty Blender. However, based off your recommendation, I bought the complexion brush from Up & Up and I fell in LOVE! I have been using it non stop because I purchased 2 more 😊 Thank you so much Emily!
All of my Up & Up brushes have been bought on your recommendation and I love them!!! I was unsure about buying the complexion brush set but that angled brush is so perfect for contour and I reach for it everyday, it's worth it! Thank you Emily!!!
This couldn't have come at a better time! I saw it just before I was headed to Target to use a beauty coupon, and these brushes were all BOGO 25% off. $20 got me six brushes! Thanks, Emily!
Love all of your videos! You are my favorite beauty youtuber. Thanks for what you do. I just found you earlier this year, and I have enjoyed catching up on all of your old videos.
You have really inspired me to try out more pink and berry lip colors. They look so beautiful on you and I'm starting like them quite a bit. Thank you ❤
My 16 year old sister just got into makeup and she uses the mini travel set! With my prompting, she uses the fluffy eye shadow brush with her concealer. It's a great little starter kit for younger girls.
I've always heard you mention the up and up brushes from Target, and waited so long for you to do a review on them. Thank you so much for this review!! 🐝🌻🐝
Although I'm quite sure that you're told this often, I just wanted to still mention it to you...I think you do such an amazing job in your video's! You're so thorough and your demos are also so helpful. If I am going to make a new purchase, I ALWAYS come to your channel(s) to first find your reviews and swatches to get an idea/opinion about the product and or about the shades, etc....So thank you for the time you take, especially with a new baby, to do the amazing job that you do for us! MUCH love, xoxo
You definitely inspired me to buy these when you first talked about them and I'm so glad I did. The blush brush and setting brush are regulars in my routine. Love your channel and your snaps too!
I was so happy to see you posted this video! I've been waiting for it ever since you announced it was coming. I saw your original video on the complexion and blush brush and went out to get them right away. I love love them! thanks for your reviews. They are so honest and informative-keep it up! 😊
I have to check out those brushes. I have a small face and like the control and precision of smaller brushes. I love your makeup here, without liner or false lashes. It's very chic and really highlights your eyes.
I bought the blush brush about a week ago since I've heard you raving about it and I can totally see why it's Emily approved! It is perfect for bronzer and/or blush and I love reaching for it everyday! Thanks for your solid reviews and recommendations! 😄👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼
YES! Awesome video. I eye these brushes every dang time I'm in Target, based on your reviews, but just never pull the trigger (I'm always finding another splurge, I guess!). So glad to see a comprehensive guide so that I can really decide what I need/want.
Emily, I swear, you are just so amazing! I absolutely do not like video's on brushes. They have never held my attention and I am just not interested in them. But you, being your wonderful self made this video so interesting and viewer frendly by showing the brushes in use that I watched it till the very end and totally enjoyed it. Now I'm going to purchase some of those brushes. You still never cease to amaze me even after all these years. In my book you are still number ONE! 😊 💟
You're so funny... You can tell that you love what you're doing when you refer to your brushes as "this little guy" and "the mama and the baby". 😄 great video!
my favorite brush ever is a crown eyeshadow brush i got in an ipsy bag. no matter what else i buy/try, that one is my hands-down favorite brush. i am going to try the up and up complexion brush.
I was looking forward to this video! You got me addicted to these brushes. I bought the bronzer brush which has a shorter fatter handle than the other brushes in the line and it's a pretty large slightly fluffy but still a dense brush and it's PERFECT for bronzer or applying powders all over the face and it's nice for blending too. :) I love finding good quality inexpensive brushes! I have the complexion brush, the complexion brush set, the blush brush, and the eye brush duo and I love them! They are my go to's :D
Hiya. I hack those "flat foundation brushes" to apply sticky peel off or mud masks. So much less mess and it feels a bit more spa like. Silly but at least they get used. Big Summers end love to all ♥ive&MB
Patiently waited for this video lol! Can't wait to go to target to purchase a few brushes. As always thanks for your superrrrr thorough videos. Love your snapchat, Belle is adorable ❤️
the complexion brush and the blush brushes are definitely my favorites as well! the blush brush works amazingly for contour as well. I've also found that I like the powder brush for bronzer and the bronzer brush for powder, go figure.
Thank you! Brushes can be so expensive and it's a bummer if the don't perform well. I'm going to add these to my Emily List. Everything I've purchased off of your recommendation has been superb! Thanks for saving me time and money. You're the best!
Great Video! The UP and UP brushes are Great & like you say, Little Hidden Gems. You got me hooked me on the complexion brush and now I must get the blush brush. Love the mini set as well, so cute. Thanks for sharing this with us, enjoyed as always
I'm sooooo glad you posted this! I've been looking for some good affordable brushes to get for my aunt. She just told me she's been using makeup that she got 20 years ago and the brushes she showed me were just scary! Thank you for the awesome suggestions! This video couldn't have come at a better time :-)
I was looking to purchase some of these but remembered you mentioning this video and was waiting for it! Thank you for being to dedicated and informative!
I bought several brushes on your recommendation. I especially love the complexion brush and the blush brush. The blush brush is the perfect size for my Mary Kay palettes so that you aren't dipping into the shadows when you want blush. Now I need to go out and buy "the set."
I have purchased a few of these brushes after hearing you talk about them so much and am happy I did! I'll be going back to Target to purchase a few more. Thanks for the great review!!!
This video was very helpful. Thank you! Up and Up sensitive facial cleansing wipes are also really great. I prefer them to the Neutrogena and Simple brand wipes.
Great guide, Emily!! I can't believe how big the powder brush is - I already think the Elf complexion brush is pretty darn big, so that Up & Up one is just humongous haha!
You never know if Target may stumble across this video and take your suggestions into consideration. The black handle pointed round brush is still displayed at my Target. I guess I better head on over and pick it up, before they discontinue it. Thanks again for a great video Emily.
I've gotten some of the brushes based on your reviews. My faves are the complexion and blush brush. I also like the majority of the ELF studio brushes.
nice brush collection. I wish I lived closer to a Target. I really think I would like that blush brush. I'm with you on big eye brushes, I can't do them either. Makes a mess actually. Yay to Kristin for the shadow!
I bought the blush brush after I watched your original video of the brushes and it is the only blush brush I use now. Next time I am in the U.S. (I am from Canada) I plan on picking up more. Thanks for sharing.
the blush brush really is amazing! and I also bought the kabuki brush cause I needed a new one and it is also really really good! super soft and dense enough to blend out my contouring/blush but not too hard. I have found that cheap kabuki brushes tend to be not dense enough to do that but the up&up one definitely does!
I just got the Up & Up Complexion brush and it's amazing!!! I was using the flat foundation brush from Elisabeth Arden. I don't know how I applied foundation without it!!!! Thank you so much, and I love your videos!
I recently started using the paddle foundation brush from "the set" for applying face masks!! A little extravagant I guess but my gel peel off masks go on evenly, and my blue or green etc ones go on without blue fingers!
You make youtube videos that actually matter. They are so helpful and make sense, yet are creative and fun to watch. You are just great!
You are so kind! Thank you!!

That complexion brush reminds me of the Real Techniques expert face brush-which is my absolute FAVORITE brush for foundation application.
Then you might like the complextion brush, because I love it and I love the real technique expert face brush as well.
You probably have the must unique but useful videos on the Internet😍 I love how detailed and informative your reviews are without being boring☺️ you're probably my favorite TH-camr☺️
The blush brush works so nicely with harder blushes like the Tarte blushes. Really good!
You are the one who got me hooked on that darn complexion brush, I literally use it every single day!! Great video now I need to purchase more of their brushes lol.
I use the concealer duo as blending brushes for my crease:) they work wonders!
Jessica Scherer I do the same with my Sigma concealer brushes since I didn't like them much on my under eye concealer. :)
Yay brushes that work for colourpop eyeshadows! I've been on the hunt for brushes that work for those! 💜
These brushes are amazing! I have the foundation brush and I prefer it over my it cosmetic brushes
Whenever I'm in the makeup aisles of the drugstore and I see a product I'm not sure of, I always pull up your channel because I know you would have reviewed it!
You need to check out the Rite Aid brushes. They don't have as many but all the basics are covered and the quality is outstanding.
waymire01 i randomly got one when I was out of town (when in NYC, visit RiteAid LOL) & love it!
+waymire01 what is their brand called? Thanks!

I know !!! They are really nice quality too!!! And sometimes they have buy one and get one free which makes them even better
thanks for the tip. I was apprehensive about them. I'll definitely give them a try now.
Nuevo cheap always raves about the Right Aid brushes
I bought the complexion and blush brush based off your recommendation! Love them!

This couldn't have come at a better time! I saw it just before I was headed to Target to use a beauty coupon, and these brushes were all BOGO 25% off. $20 got me six brushes! Thanks, Emily!
The complexion brush looks like a great dupe for the Urban Decay optical blurring brush(my absolute fave for foundation). I will NEED to try that!!
I have the complexion brush, and whenever you use yours in your vids I get so stoked! Love mine!
The complexion brush is wonderful!

They're having a sale on them this week too-buy one, get one 25% off and there's a 5% off on the Cartwheel App.
That's awesome!!
I got the up & up complexion brush like two weeks ago for my liquid foundation and I haven't put it down since. It's amazing!!!

Thanks-this is great! I am so pleased with all the Up & Up brushes I've purchased. I reach for them often.

Awesome job! I love how thorough you are...
This video was very helpful. Thank you! Up and Up sensitive facial cleansing wipes are also really great. I prefer them to the Neutrogena and Simple brand wipes.
I got the complexion brush right after you recommended several months ago. Love it!
Great guide, Emily!! I can't believe how big the powder brush is - I already think the Elf complexion brush is pretty darn big, so that Up & Up one is just humongous haha!
Great review! I love using those flat concealer brushes to apply eye primer.
I also like the majority of the ELF studio brushes.
snapchat prepared me for this video! lots of love for you emily 💕
just bought the complexion brush and had to check if Emily had a review on it!
I would love if you had your own drugstore makeup line!
nice brush collection. I wish I lived closer to a Target. I really think I would like that blush brush. I'm with you on big eye brushes, I can't do them either. Makes a mess actually. Yay to Kristin for the shadow!
Liked before I watched thanks for posting recommendations on lower priced brushes
i like your tips and videos very much, usefull and i like your voice, you are soo friendly. thank you xxx
Oh you should also try the big powder brush they have - really nice! 💋
I bought the blush brush after I watched your original video of the brushes and it is the only blush brush I use now. Next time I am in the U.S. (I am from Canada) I plan on picking up more. Thanks for sharing.
I bought the completion brush on your recommendation and I love it! It works great with my It cosmetics cream foundation.
I love the silver handles and two tone hairs.
the blush brush really is amazing! and I also bought the kabuki brush cause I needed a new one and it is also really really good! super soft and dense enough to blend out my contouring/blush but not too hard. I have found that cheap kabuki brushes tend to be not dense enough to do that but the up&up one definitely does!
I would love a tutorial on this look, so gorgeous!
lol @ "this one is the stud of my makeup collection!
I love up and up brushes thanks to you for the discovery!!!!
I was so excited for this video and you never disappoint! Super informative and useful!
Xxx love you Xxx
I feel like you are my teacher in my makeup :) thank you Emily
