I see people are complaining about the old design. I like the unchanged design and this still has a frame. If you want an ugly euro piece of trash, Ford and Ram has the van for you.
Mercedes is just the same as bad as those. I like the body on frame design, proven. Skip the displacement on demand engines and you have a good van. The conversion vans are such great vehicles, roomy, comfy and a great ride
Bulletproof van... 30,000 is very reasonable. Those hipsters paying upwards of $125,000 for a Mercedes Sprinter is ridiculous. I know of 3 owners of Mercedes Sprinters who regret paying so much. They're payments are $1,500 a month.
Yeah, throughout the drive I really started to enjoy the experience! It’s a blank canvas. Camping van, race van, cargo van, etc! I can’t believe people spend so much on a van…😕
Haha yeah, they’ve basically been the same van for 20+ years. But they’re good for many things. I personally think it would be sweet to build a sleeper/race van out of a Chevy express.
Dude making a modern conversion van out of one of these, wirh like...a turbo 6.2 in it with all the cool interior lights and captains chairs and stuff would be so sick. Put some cool wheels and fat tires on the back, you could easily make 800whp reliably with a turbo 6.2. Even a 5.3! Then just have fun. It'd be fast, comfortable, a great camping experience with a tv, or sick stereo, the possibilities are endless!
Am saving to buy one and I will with the help of God this van can carry my one column sound Amp rack everybody plus my uncle use to own a older version and I did love it emagine this version
That would be sick! I’d love to build a camper someday, but also a short (135” wheelbase) race van with maybe a Whipple 3.0 supercharger on the 6.6 V8 engine this can come with lol. 😂
The v8 models are the ones to get. They also come in AWD. Honestly the best cargo van out when comparing directly to other brands. Most reliable drivetrain. Parts are a dime a dozen and you don’t have to take it to a specialty shop to work on the dang thing like the pro masters and transits. All around this thing is a winner. Great overview!
They don't come factory with AWD anymore.. they discontinued that in 2014 with the 1500 version.. you can, however, get a quigley 4x4 conversion for about $10k as long as the van is new, or it meets certain criteria if used.. other than that.. these things are immortal
I wanted to pick up one of these of these for a large amount of homeowner projects I have lined up for the upcoming years. It was either this or a pick up but I was leaning this because I wanted to put a sick wrap of a wizard fighting a dragon or something on it. My girl was the final decider and suffice to say we ended up with the truck lol
Hahahaha, I would have voted for the wrapped van if it helps you feel better, that would have been sick! At least in theory and short term lol. I want a short wheelbase Express to build into a race van lol. 😂
They wanted to kill em off, but cause Ford killed off their full size van first they had to keep making it as the last full size van made, and they sell well
Chevy makes a good vehicle really? Every time I've read consumer reports Chevy has some of the worst reviews and all my older relatives say American cars are trash.
It seems hit or miss. I’ve really enjoyed the 2 Chevys I’ve owned, one bullet proof and not a single issue in 7 years and the other was questionably bad but fun lol.
@@Weathernerd27 Since 1970 Chevy/ GM has simultaneously built very good and bad vehicles, just got to know which is which. Plenty of 400,000 milers and plenty of 80,000 milers.
The middle cup holder is for the ghost living in the van... 😂😂😂 lol. Great video 😂😂. Most everyone has these thoughts... lol. Thanks!!!' You made my night!!! 😂LOL 😂 LMBO!!!!!
You’re too phobic lol, no one cares about the “creepy” van, and the window tint, us service techs rely on them to make a living, plus the tint keeps the temp down when it’s a hot work day, Nice van btw, that 6.6l v8 they have available is a beast.
Haha after driving it I realized that no one else seemed to care. It might just be part of my generation who was taught growing up to avoid white or windowless vans. I’m sorry if this was ridiculous or offensive to you where it in no way applies to you. I agree, the 6.6 and with a Whipple would be so sweet!
👍🏻👍🏻 As a condition of my early release, I am prohibited from riding in, driving or being within 500 hundred feet of white panel vans. Additionally for some reason I cannot be in possession of bulk candy. Only small amount for personal use. #chestrecantcatchabreak
Oh gosh haha. 😂 I have no idea why I wanted to drive this, but I did. 🤷♂️ And it was actually a pretty fun van. I definitely now have a better understanding of why so many people modify these into campers. I know it’s silly, but I could imagine a 6.0 vortec V8 panel van with a supercharger being a pretty fun work or company van. 😛
Is this a 2024 I cannot find any at my local deal to test drive in South Florida also in researching I found that this is now available with a backup camera and navigation I need to get to a dealer to get more information
Longevity wise these vans make it into 300-500k easily, of course very dependent on how you take care of them. My 96 has 220k on the engine and it purrs. No ticks or odd sounds. Older ones get less MPG.
The windowless Vans are for security . You don't want to window in your back door as well. It's so easy for someone to walk up and look in with a flashlight even with tinted windows and see if there's valuable items, tools in the back and that's very easy to hit however if they come up to a barn door they can't see through they're going to probably keep on going because it's not worth the hassle. Unless they're a professional thief and we're going to get in regardless to your security. I refuse to drive a V6 van.
I will buying one in the next 2 months and will building it out for Boondocking , I will have at least 300 watts of solar on the roof , I will camp in Quartzite Arizona, Yellowstone, Yosemite EtC , I will get a You Tube Chanel and post Videos , looking to buy my van in the next 2 months with Cash, Have a great Day
Haha, it’s pretty cool huh? I personally would love a short wheelbase new 6.6 V8 Express to Supercharge and make into a race van. Or eventually a camper. 😅
i strongly believe its all in your melon!!!! that people will look at you different?? If you drive a white window less van!!!?? that is call PARANOIDIA!!!!! Usually of excessive drug use!! I strongly suggest go gets some help!!! and The Chris Farley clip sort of gives away! also!!!
I think you’re right haha. Honestly, I don’t know why but I thought it would be interesting to drive, and it was. I do think the 6.6L V8 version of this van with a Whipple supercharger would be hilariously awesome. 🤩

I drove one of these for a day back in 2004. It was the short wheel base cargo version with a V8. It was a rocket.
Nice! Yeah, I was surprised how healthy the 4.3 felt in this haha.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208Imagine what my 6.6 L 2024 Express Cargo Van feels like.. at 75 miles an hour it's at 1500 RPM
That’s awesome haha.
A cargo van with a short wheel base and sliding door white in color, and move in. That works for me. I like it because it’s old school simple.
Bulletproof van...
30,000 is very reasonable.

And the Mercedes has a sheet metal frame, undersized engine, reliability issues and high routine maintenance costs.
Why do you even care what others think? Your life your rules do what you want with both of them. 😀
The backup camera is in the rear view mirror on the left side. Great vans!
Exactly lol. 😂
i want one of these so bad as a travel van. hotel-less travel across country is on the bucket list...
That would be sweet!
$30k is ridiculous for such an outdated vehicle
Haha yeah, they’ve basically been the same van for 20+ years. But they’re good for many things. I personally think it would be sweet to build a sleeper/race van out of a Chevy express.
A Mercedes sprinter is like $60-120k lmaoooo it's not for a family, it's for a corporation making $$$$$$$$$
$80k is ridiculous for a pickup truck
This van lasts forever. My last oil change was at 350 k , currently odometer is 466712. Still works great.
So you saying I got a 30 grand van. And mine 2007.
Here’s a van joke: someone told a van owner that he was either a cop or a pervert.
The van owner became indignant and said, “I ain’t no goddam cop!” 🤣
Haha 😆
If I see one in my neighborhood, I immediately think plumber, electrician, or HVAC trades person.
this van is one of my favorites. i think, i need one of those explorer top equipment express vans. i hope some day, i can buy one of those.

I want one just like that, but with no windows in the back. Id get a high top and make a sick camper.

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 That sounds sick!
Maybe one day it will be a build series on my channel if it gets big enough to justify that ridiculous adventure someday haha.
Windowless is mostly so people dont break into your van and steal your tools. I need one of these
I need one I have a sound system and I play weddings and nine night and parties etc this van is unique
thats crazy theyve been making the same exact van for 20 years
They wanted to kill em off, but cause Ford killed off their full size van first they had to keep making it as the last full size van made, and they sell well
A modern day Shag Wagon, Motel Express for high schoolers
Lmao, I remember those days
Just got the same van but it's a 2023 and building it out to be a camper still at the insulation step
That’s awesome! I’m excited for you.
I can recall a time when these GM 1/2 ton vans came equipped with a standard 250 or 292 I6 engines.
Nice! I’d love to drive the new 6.6 V8 Express.
Ah the G series. Under appreciated vans. Had a 1992 G20 great vans. Would love a first gen van though
Biggest problem with those is the paint peeling off in sheets, especially the hood. Reliable otherwise. The 4.3L is near bulletproof.
Good insight! And honestly the 4.3 felt pretty stout in the low weight of this specific van.

Jokes aside, they are virtually all business use vehicles and retirees vacation vehicles.
Good vans to have
Since driving this I actually really want one now haha. It would be so great to move stuff, make into a camper, or even a sleeper drag racing van. 😎

This example I think was a 2019 if I remember correctly. Best of luck! 🙂
Christ I need to buy a white windowless Chevy van and paint "Free Candy" on the side.
Hahaha, do what makes you happy I guess. 😝
Get one with windows and chase 70 degree weather. Its very simple. This isn't rocket science.
Whats the mileage when u bought it
I didn’t buy this one, I was just borrowing it to experience the drive and make my video about it. 🙂
NICE
What about the fuel consume?
I think these 4.3 V6 vans are rated roughly 16/20.
What kind of mileage can you expect to get?
According to a quick Fuelly google search it seems like a lot of people get 13-15MPG!
Longevity wise these vans make it into 300-500k easily, of course very dependent on how you take care of them. My 96 has 220k on the engine and it purrs. No ticks or odd sounds. Older ones get less MPG.

OR. Put a big ass rack on it, supercharged V8, straight axle 4x4 and make it a bad ass moto x van.
💯 🤩
no bud you need a 90s ford Econoline to get the creeps...trust me from experience 😆
🤪
From outside it's just a work van.
Inside tho...
The possibilities are endless!
Ahh yes the good ol' pervert/FBI/Homeless van. Nice review man!
😂 thanks!
If you want looks, slow down. About 5 mph should do it.
Hahaha that makes too much sense, But I didn’t think of that. 😅😂 Regular driving didn’t get any looks.
I have had people offer over 6k to buy my 2000 Chevy Express Van.
I will buying one in the next 2 months and will building it out for Boondocking , I will have at least 300 watts of solar on the roof , I will camp in Quartzite Arizona, Yellowstone, Yosemite EtC , I will get a You Tube Chanel and post Videos , looking to buy my van in the next 2 months with Cash, Have a great Day
That sounds like a fun plan! I wish you the best, thanks for watching!!
That really looks like a 2000s car
Blindada!
This is a creepy van for sure. As some might buy this, could fit 30 dead hooookers.
That’s a good selling point.
Do not stare directly into eye-searing yellow highlighting in thumbnail.
Lol, oops… 🤕
can i have it..
Haha, it’s pretty cool huh? I personally would love a short wheelbase new 6.6 V8 Express to Supercharge and make into a race van. Or eventually a camper. 😅
Im gonna deive as slow as i can.
Goes 40 mph in a 25
Haha 🤷♂️😅
You're too self-conscious 😅
Haha, probably. I blame it on needing good bedside manners working in healthcare, and my upbringing and family. 😛
