    "Deep ripping is not new, we had them at least twenty years ago."
    Soil science and bigger, heavier and higher horsepower equipment led to a change in farm practices.
    The compaction of soils has increased, especially below the frost layer demanding a host of equipment options seen at the farm show.
    Productivity “gradually goes down” according to Lynch, should a farmer not “deep rip” the 12 to 24 inches of soil.
